4 EACH about us Established in 1991, EACH is one of the foremost Asian-specific alcohol counselling services in the UK and a pioneer in the field of developing culturally sensitive services. We work with diverse communities to help people address their alcohol, drug, mental health and domestic violence concerns. Over the years, EACH has developed specific services tailored to meet the needs of black and minority ethnic communities who experience cultural and linguistic barriers to mainstream services. EACH provides a range of community-based services that help people to gain the self-confidence and independence to rebuild their lives....the counselling service has really helped me become a stronger and braver person and supported me to move forward in life. Hansa (service user) 2

6 EACH our services Services at EACH are provided in a safe, confidential and accessible environment. We take a client centred approach, considering individual needs based on background, personal experience and circumstances. Information, advice and support This is provided to encourage safe and responsible drinking and drug use, make referrals to detox or rehab facilities, and meet the practical needs of clients in areas such as housing and welfare. Counselling Using a range of therapeutic approaches, we provide short and long-term counselling in a number of mother-tongue languages to help people to talk through their concerns and achieve positive changes. Structured Day Care To help those with a long history of substance misuse to achieve abstinence, the Structured Day Care programme provides weekly support groups on topics such as anger management, confidence building and relapse prevention, combined with complementary therapies. EACH has helped me recover my life after many years of addiction. I am now able to look forward with confidence and enthusiasm. Peter (service user) 4
7 Enabling Change u Rebuilding Lives Family therapy and support Substance misuse can have a significant impact on families and children. Our family service provides advice, information, counselling and peer support groups to help families to cope. Women-only service To meet the multiple and particular needs of black and minority ethnic women and the difficulties they experience in accessing services, EACH provides targeted support for Asian women and girls through our specialist domestic violence project and through home visiting, GP satellites, and women-only groups. Volunteer Empowerment and Training EACH enables volunteers and service users to access training, employment and further education in order to develop their skills, confidence and experience and build on their strengths. 5 5
