3 1. Introduction This guide is for learners taking EDI s Functional Skills ICT on demand assessments. Learners are instructed to save all work produced during the assessment into a designated folder. Following the assessment you will need to upload this work via the EDI ICT Portal to enable it to be marked. System requirements The EDI ICT Portal is a web-based tool. You will need a computer with an Internet connection and web browsing software to use the portal. The EDI ICT Portal has been tested in Internet Explorer 8, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. You will need the ability to compress folders of your learners work in.zip format (either through the built-in functionality in more recent versions of Microsoft Windows or by using the WinZip program). It is highly recommended that you use a broadband connection when uploading via the EDI ICT Portal. Slower connections will work, however they will be slow to upload and it is recommended that you do not try to upload large volumes of work via such connections. 4 2. Logging in The portal can be accessed via: Logging in Your login details for the EDI ICT Portal for Functional Skills are the same as those which you use to login to Campus. If necessary, login details can be obtained from EDI Customer Support who can be contacted on or To login to the EDI ICT Portal for Functional Skills, enter your Centre Code, User Name and Password, then click Login. Please note: You will be logged out of the portal after 30 minutes of inactivity. 4 Guide to using the EDI Functional Skills ICT Portal

5 3. Finding an order Finding an order Once logged in, you will be presented with a list of all outstanding orders relating to Functional Skills ICT Qualifications for your centre. Please note: An order is a group of learners scheduled to take an assessment on a specific date. The Order Number, Unit code, Product Description, number of Candidates and Exam Date are displayed: Available orders within this screen can be searched/filtered by entering the required order number in the search field and/or selecting the appropriate unit code from the drop-down list and then clicking on Search. 6 4. Uploading a learner s work You will now see a list of all learners scheduled to the order selected. In the example below, two learners have been registered. The top part of the screen shows details relating to the order. The current status for this order is awaiting upload. Click on the paperclip symbol to upload each individual learner s completed assignment to the portal. In this instance the learners to be marked are Philipa Brown and Victoria Beckham. You will then see the following screen: Click on Browse to locate the zip file you want to upload for the chosen learner. 6 Guide to using the EDI Functional Skills ICT Portal

7 Please note: The ICT Portal will only accept.zip files. You will need to zip each folder of learner s work before attempting to upload. The ICT Portal will not accept.zip files over 10MB in size. How to zip a learner s folder of work To zip (compress) a folder of learner s work, right-click on the folder and select Send To and then Compressed (zipped) Folder. This will create a zip file within the current directory. Please speak to your IT department if you require any assistance or are unable to do this. Browse and select the zip file which you want to upload. Then click Open. The zip file you selected will be shown in the File window. Guide to using the EDI Functional Skills ICT Portal 7

9 You will then be taken back to the screen which shows all the learners within the order. The uploaded.zip file will now be listed under the specific learner s name. Clicking on the + / - next to the learners name will hide or display the uploaded zip file. To view the completed work of a learner, double click on the zip file. If you need to remove/replace any uploaded work, click on the X icon on the right-hand side to delete the.zip file. You can then upload another file by clicking on the paperclip icon. Please make sure that you upload the correct.zip file against the correct learner s name. You can only upload one.zip file per learner. The system will display a warning message if it detects that two.zip files uploaded against different learners have the same filename. Absent learners If a learner has been absent, click the red flag to indicate that the learner did not take the assignment. The flag will change colour (to green) to indicate that the learner has been marked absent. This process is reversible if the button is accidently clicked. 10 5. Sending files to EDI When ALL learner.zip files within an order have been uploaded (or learners have been marked as absent), the order can be submitted. Please note: You will not be able to submit your order until all learners either have a file of work uploaded against their name or have been marked absent. Please note: At any point before you press submit, you will be able to make amendments. You will be able to save your changes, leave the system and return to make further amendments. However, once you press Submit, files will be passed to EDI for marking. You will no longer be able to make any amendments. You are therefore advised to thoroughly check which files have been uploaded (and against which learner) before clicking submit. To submit your learners work, click on Submit. You will be asked if you are sure you want to submit and you will then need to click Submit again. Once you have submitted your work, the order will no longer be visible in the ICT Portal.
