Network Administration. Studies communications architectures, protocols, and interfaces as they relate to network operating systems. Topics will include communications networking techniques such as circuit switching, packet switching, broadcast networking and internetworking. Also included will be installation, configuration, client handling, basic security, and troubleshooting of a network operating system. A modern network operating system will be used to provide extensive handson experience in configuring and administrating a network. Prerequisite(s): ITNW 2321 or CISK 347 or approval of department chair. 2. Course Objectives: ** Students will be familiar with the background and development of the computer networks, to include components features and architecture ** Determine the network design most appropriate for a given site ** Differentiate among network standards, protocols, and access methods ** Master local area network concepts and terminology ** Understand the use of directory services and scripting in network administration 3. Skill Outcomes: ** Study Organizational structure ** Understand network configurations ** Knowledgeable about System and Network Administration ** Troubleshooting Network problems ** Learn different types of communication media. ** Study Protocols and Ports. ** Learn Network Monitoring System ** Troubleshoot network problems - Ping, ipconfig, tracert, netstat and nslookup. ** Learn to configure a switch ** Troubleshoot layer 2 and Layer 3 problems

4 you must go into Warrior Web and confirm that you are no longer enrolled. If you are still enrolled, FOLLOW-UP with the records office immediately. You are to attend class until the procedure is complete to avoid penalty for absence. Should you miss the deadline or fail to follow the procedure, you will receive an F in the course. 8. Librarians will work with students in the development of critical reasoning, ethical use of information, and the appropriate use of secondary research techniques including: exploring information resources such as library collections and services, Identify sources such as subject databases and scholarly journals, executing effective search strategies, retrieving, recording, and citing relevant results correctly, and interpreting search results and deciding whether to expand the search. Students are responsible for obtaining information about assignments, material covered by lecture, and other class activities from another student when they miss classes. Students are expected to make arrangements with the instructor before missing a series of classes due to job requirements.
