5 1 Discontinued 1/1/2012 Effective 3/18/13 Page 36: Update Description of Certificates and Degrees to read: Stratford University offers several certificates and degrees in its academic schools. Certificates are 14 courses equal to 63 credit hours. They do not require any arts and sciences requirements. They are typically completed in five quarters. Associate degrees consist of twenty courses equal to 90 credit hours. Seven arts and sciences courses equal to 31.5 credits are required. An associate degree takes 15 months or two academic years to complete. Bachelor degrees require 40 courses or 180 credit hours and 14 arts and sciences courses equal to 63 credits. It normally takes 30 months or four academic years to complete a bachelor degree. Master degrees require twelve courses equal to 54 credit hours. Depending on program content, concentration, or specialization, students may be required to fulfill lab, externship, or capstone hours for successful completion of a program. Page 21: Update Satisfactory Academic Progress to include the following three sections: The Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy fulfills the requirements expressed by the Higher Education Act (HEA), U.S. Department of Education, and Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Students must maintain a satisfactory level of academic progress toward completing a degree in order to remain enrolled at the University and/or receive federal student aid. All students are measured against qualitative and quantitative standards. The Office of the Registrar and the Office of Student Financial Services generate and monitor respective SAP reports and issue SAP status notification letters unique to the department. After grades are posted, student CGPAs and completion percentages are calculated to determine if a student is making academic satisfactory progress. These reports are conducted each term for all students for courses taken at the student s current academic level regardless of whether the student is a federal student aid recipient. If a student has a break in enrollment and is re-admitted, his/her previous status(es) apply. Academic SAP Statuses A student may be placed on the following academic SAP status and must take the required action associated with his/her status. A student who is placed on academic SAP status, but meets the requirements in the subsequent quarter will return to good standing status. A student who does not meet the requirements in the subsequent quarter will be placed on the next status. A student is eligible to enroll and receive federal student aid until he/she is dismissed. Good Standing: Students are in good standing when the minimum CPGA and completion percentage is met or exceeded. Students in good standing are eligible to register for courses and receive federal student aid. Alert: Students are placed on alert status in the first term the CGPA and/or completion percentage falls below the minimum. Warning: Students are placed on warning status the second term the CGPA and/or completion percentage falls below the minimum. This status requires students to have their course schedule approved by the academic advisor and meet with an academic advisor monthly. Probation: Students are placed on probation status the third term the CGPA and/or completion percentage falls below the minimum. This status requires students to have their course schedule approved by the academic advisor and meet with an academic advisor bi-weekly. Caution: Students are placed on caution status the fourth term the CGPA and/or completion percentage falls below the minimum. This status requires students to have their course schedule approved by the academic advisor and meet with an academic advisor weekly. Dismissal: Students are placed on dismissal status the fifth term the CGPA and/or completion percentage falls below the minimum. Students who are academically dismissed are no longer active students of the University and are ineligible for federal student aid. Students who reach the maximum time frame are dismissed and no longer eligible to enroll or receive federal student aid. 5
6 Financial Aid SAP Statuses Students who are on academic SAP status at the end of his/her second academic year or sixth quarter also receive a financial aid SAP warning. Students who are on financial aid SAP warning are eligible to receive federal student aid for one quarter. At the end of the first quarter of the third academic year or seventh quarter of enrollment, students who meet or exceed SAP standards are removed from financial aid SAP warning and academic SAP status. Students who do not meet SAP standards are dismissed from the University. Students may appeal their financial aid SAP dismissal and regain eligibility to register for courses and/or federal student aid. Students who successfully appeal must establish an academic plan with his/her academic advisor in order to remain enrolled at the University. A student who has been reinstated after a financial aid SAP dismissal must meet SAP requirements until he/she complete the program. Page 22: Update the Qualitative Measurement and Quantitative Measurement to state the respective calculation and assessment will be made each academic term. Students develop positive perception of cultural diversity. The course examines the most important elements of cultural diversity, understanding, and awareness. By understanding the concepts of cultural competence students have a better grasp of diversity categories and the characteristics and systems of cultures. The overall goal is to exemplify the challenges and benefits of diversity and strengthen the possibilities of living and working together in a multicultural society. Prerequisite: None. Update prerequisite(s): CUL170 Advanced Culinary Theory Prerequisite: CUL111. CUL215 Dining Room Service This course has a supplemental instructional fee. CUL291 Current Topics in Culinary Arts I This course has a culinary and baking lab fee. CUL293 Current Topics in Culinary Arts III This course has a supplemental instructional fee. CUL380 Culinary Cultural Traditions Prerequisite: CUL121. There is no fee for cancellations. Continuing students who do not attend the first three course meetings will be administratively withdrawn. A No Show fee is charged for students who are administratively withdrawn under this circumstance. The No Show Fee is 10% of the tuition and fees for each course. 6

Documentation is required at the beginning of each academic year and instructors should be notified before the start of each course.
