6 The Cittadella Politecnica Politecnico di Torino The Politecnico has students studying on 22 Bachelor's degree courses; 30 Master of Science courses; 14 Doctorates and 28 specialisation courses). 18 of them are held in English. The Politecnico has 813 Teachers /Researchers. I3P 171 start-ups hosted since 1999; A leader in supporting startups at national and international level; A strong network in Italy and abroad. 8 What is I3P? I3P is a non-profit joint-stock company, founded on Shareholders are:

9 I3P Target Groups Students, researchers and professors from the Politecnico of Torino or other Research Institutions. Firms willing to set up an entrepreneurial spin-off. Anyone willing to create an innovative company and who can benefit from the proximity of the Politecnico s labs.

10 What are its mission and objectives? To support the creation of knowledge-based start-ups with highgrowth potential. Providing consultancy services along the process from Idea to Company. Managing a high-profile marketplace and network linking entrepreneurs, professionals, managers and investors. Offering high-quality logistics services to host start-ups and foster motivation and collaboration.... and supporting national and international partners for the establishment of new hi-tech business incubators Experience, scale, and size of network as key competitive factors.

11 How? Who? For how long? How can you join I3P? Have your business idea or business plan assessed by the I3P Evaluation Committee, composed of experts in different fields. Who can be accepted? Companies not older than one year. How long can you stay in I3P? A maximum of 3 years (+1 optional), subject to a mid-term review process.

12 Costs for tenant companies An All-inclusive fee covering services (logistics, consulting, advisory, networking, etc.). The fee is aligned with market prices and grows year on year. Companies can choose to use the value-added services only and keep their premises outside I3P (virtual incubation). Part of the fee can be substituted by a revenue-sharing agreement with I3P, based on the turnover of the 4th and 5th year (after they have left the incubator). The Incubator does not take equity in the incubated startups companies.

13 Certification 2013 In 2013 I3P has been certified as Certified Incubator of Innovative Start Ups I3P is one of the first italian Certified Incubator of Innovative Start Ups under the law 17/12/2012 n.221. Actuallly, 57 our companies have been certified as Innovative Start-ups.

16 Pre-incubation Pre-incubation is the training period during which an innovative idea develops into a start-up company, under the guidance of a tutor. I3P provides the competencies and expertise for: Assessing the business opportunity of an idea Designing a sustainable business model Protecting intellectual property Developing a consistent business plan Building the entrepreneurial team Raising pre-seed / seed capital

17 Incubation Tutoring / Coaching The tutors are always in contact with companies to support strategic decisions, for the coaching in business development, and to enable the necessary specialist consultants. Company Check up Conducted by external consultants with extensive experience through strategic and management analysis for the verification of company s performance. Mentoring Corporate support service through introduction to clients and investors of particular importance.

20 Business Planning Courses Since 2004 Politecnico and I3P have coordinated Entrepreneurship and Business Planning courses for the III and IV Schools of Engineering and for the PhD school. Student teams work on BPs for real projects proposed by I3P (pre-incubation ideas or existing start-ups). Under the supervision of an I3P tutor, students work with entrepreneurs and acquire new competencies by learning onthe-job. 47 Best Science Based Incubator Award 2004 I3P WON THE III EDITION of Best Science Based Incubator Award (Oxford, UK) PARTICIPANTS about 50 incubators coming from all over the world, half of them from Europe and three Italians. JURY of worldwide experts award the performances in the category of best growth rate, return on investments and self-sustainability. I3P RECEIVED THE OVERALL AWARD which reward the most effective incubator basing on the mean of different parameters taken in consideration. The IV edition of the BEST SCIENCE BASED INCUBATOR AWARD has been hosted in Turin, December 2005.

48 Ranking UBI July 2014 I3P ranked 1 st in Italy, 5 th in Europe and 15 th in the world ranking UBI (University Business Incubator), the Global Benchmark Report annual ranking of the best academic incubators.
