Year 6 Abandoned Amusement Park Stories For our first writing project this year, Year 6 have been working hard to build their writing skills so that they could write a short story set in an abandoned amusement park. Over the unit, we expanded our vocabulary, developed descriptive writing skills, looked at how varying sentence length can improve stories and then planned, drafted, redrafted and published our finished stories. To publish the stories, we had to use ICT and we developed our word processing skills. We hope that you enjoy reading our short stories!

Beating faster and faster! Suddenly, I woke up and wondered where I was. I sat up and looked around. I was scared. I stood up and looked out of the window. Straight ahead, I saw rusty, old rides. The wind was blowing the rust off the rides and blowing it towards my window. I quickly got dressed and left. I was starting to become petrified. I saw the black darkness coming and the bright moon was shining on my face. I saw shadows from the moon coming towards me I kept on walking and walking and without warning roots were grabbing my feet, the strong wind was blowing in my face, trying to tell me to go back, but I couldn t. The strong roots had my feet. I was getting more scared, I really wanted to go home but I didn t know the way back. I saw an old, still rollercoaster. It was gloomy, creaky and dull. It looked like it had been abandoned for a long time. I kept on walking. Shadows started to dance across the ground. I walked towards it. The wind was that strong it started to move. I started to hear the wind whistling, trees started falling and my toes started to tingle! I kept on walking and I saw an abandoned, out of use fun house. It looked spooky, haunted. I heard a tune being whistled by the wind. Terror struck me harder than before. The wind was warning me. I kept seeing weird shadows coming towards me and when I walked they followed me. Where were they coming from? I kept on seeing things. I think they were trying to scare me so I walked faster and faster but I still saw them so I ran as fast as I could! As I ran I tripped and fell over. I got back up and continued to run. The wind became silent for a moment. Suddenly I heard a squealing voice. It was deafening my ears. It sounded like a girl was telling me to go back. All of these voices were telling me to go back but I couldn t go back because I didn t know the way. I walked again and I saw a bright orange slide, my heart was beating faster and faster. I was daring myself to go down it. I went up the stairs slowly so I could think about it. I decided to slide down... BY CASEY

Frightened, Alone Suddenly I opened my bright, blue, tired eyes. I was laid alone in a dark, foggy, terrifying place. All I saw was a creaky, wooden, destroyed rollercoaster standing there. What could be happening? Where could I be? I was surrounded by petrifying, gloomy shadows. The wind blowing, trees swaying horrendously from side to side. The night was a tremendous terror. There was silhouette in the dusty Ferris wheel window The wind was howling like it was telling me not to go any closer, or else I crept quietly towards the merry-goround. All I could see was the shadowed, trashed faces on the old horses. It began to get frightening Could this place be haunted? As I lumbered, the roots kept getting tangled in with my feet. I tripped over, thistles scratching my delicate face. I heard a spooky voice saying, Are you okay my dear? What do I do? I cried. I was heartbroken. Tears rolled down my face. A thistle was stuck in my bruised, worried cheek. It was covered in crimson blood. I wanted to get out of this place immediately! I rushed around, trying to find the gates. I was so relieved when I thought I had found them but I was wrong. I was upset as the leaves began to fall like the tears falling from my eyes. I put my hat, gloves and scarf on the damp, cracked floor. I went over to the doom slide, shall I take it or shall I not? You probably won t keep sliding... it says on the large, black and white sign. I took the doom slide as it was the only slide there! I sat on my bottom on the slide it was very solid, not at all comfy. I pushed myself and set off. I slid down faster and faster! There was a little boy standing shouting Don t bump into me please! I was relieved, it wasn t a real boy but it was a card board cut out with sound effects. Then the slide went even faster than a rocket. I went dizzy. I screamed. I wanted to get off! Although I wished the little boy was real so I wouldn t have to be alone and scared. I hit the bottom. There was still darkness. Because of this place, I was still worried. My hat, scarf and gloves were gone and I was freezing. Time was ticking. All you could hear from the nearby clock tower was the chiming of bells. It was one hour until midnight! I needed shelter as soon as possible. The freezing cold was piercing my skin. I laid collapsed to the ground and passed out... By Alicia

Lost in the Dark Walking through the forest with my basket in my hand, I tripped over a dirty, brown, rotten tree stump. Stood in front of me were some metal, ruined gates I put my basket on the damp, wooden floor to open the rusty, wrecked, abandoned gates, but I couldn t. They were too rusty and too old. There was a black brick wall next to me that would lead me in. I climbed up the wall and fell, my eyes shut tight as I hit the ground. Passed out. As I woke up, my eyes hurt. It was too dark and I was alone in the middle of nowhere. There was no sign of a gate anymore. My heart began to beat as fast as lightning. All I could do was panic and panic. My heart still pounding, there was nothing in sight I squinted. Was it a dream? I could see a person, or at least something, in the distance. It started to come closer. I tried to get away but my long blonde hair was stuck in an old leafless tree. I tried to untangle myself from the tree but the thing just got closer and closer. I freed myself and it was here It stood in front of me however I didn t know what it was. My eyes hadn t adjusted to the dark. It said WELCOME! and disappeared. Now I was petrified. I strolled through the place, not having a clue where I was. I pulled my watch out of my pocket and the time was 11:59pm. A note came swaying in the cold air. It flew down to the floor and I put my foot on it so it wouldn t blow away. I lifted my foot so I could pick it up. It said Beware of midnight... I started to run. My heart was pounding, I was sweating! My watch said it was 12:00am. Midnight. The thing came again and this time it seemed a little bit stranger. It said Come! A thunder storm began. I remembered that I had my coat in my basket and there was a log next to me I sat down on it and opened my basket. My coat was still there. It was a black coat with fur around the hood. I looked further into my basket and there was my brother s old torch. Now I had my coat and my torch I set off to find my way home again. Why was I so stupid to climb over that wall? I wished I could smash it up. I was cold and alone as the rain pounded down.

The terrifying lightning struck a nearby tree and the tree fell down, setting fire to the malting grass. What if it set the whole place on fire? I started to run! It was the fright of my life, not even the heavy rain would put it out. What could I do? I carried on running away from the fire. I must have been far away from it now. I saw a building in the distance. I couldn t run anymore so I had to walk. It wasn t that far away but I was really tired. I could hardly move. I hadn t had any rest at all. Finally I was there, at the building. I walked inside and it was an old gift shop. It had many old toys like yoyos and skittles. There was a door that had a sign but no words on it. I tiptoed towards it, I didn t want to be too loud. There was a button, a red one. I pressed it and loudly it said 3, 2, 1!!! The building came crashing down, toys breaking and I felt like I was breaking too. I escaped the falling building and stood there. There was a dodgem cart in the corner that looked like a bear about to pounce. I moved towards it and there was a tap on my shoulder and a pull on my hair. I turned around and nobody was there. I fell to the floor... By Kelsie

Monster Mash I was in the middle of nowhere. How had I arrived here? I was surrounded by large, overgrown bushes while dead leaves fell from the trees that towered above me. The wind howled like it was telling me to go somewhere, I felt nervous. Then I heard a thud and it wasn t silent any more I began to run. It was getting louder and louder, almost like it was chasing me! I was terrified. I felt like my heart was going to explode, like it was going to come beating out of my chest. I was stood in the middle of a lifeless, leafless forest. I heard a high voice from the trees. It sounded like nails scratching a chalk board. Suddenly I tripped, but what had I tripped over? I heard music, fairground music. I followed it. If I could get there then hopefully I could ring my mum and tell her. Tell her that I am safe am I? The music got louder and louder and suddenly I was stood, hopelessly staring at a goblin that was holding a grubby, mouldy, old piece of wood that had the words Charlie s Fun Fair carved into it. A tunnel stood in front of me. I took a deep breath and ran through it. I could see the other end. I closed my eyes. Before I knew it, I was there, a fun fair... Or was it? The music got louder. I was up for a little fun and besides, some of the rides looked epic! I ran up to a ride called Cyclone. It was a long, steel, red train that followed a moss green track with a humongous drop right at the end. I sat in the cold, ancient seat, anxiously waiting for the ride to start. I heard a voice say Hold on tight - we don t use seatbelts! Confused, I looked for a speaker but there was nothing, not even a person. What was I going to do? Before I could get out of my seat, the ride started. The wheels squeaked and the blood red cart began to move... What could I do to stop it? There was nothing I could do... It got to the drop. I couldn t look. This ride was going to finish me off! I opened my eyes and it was all clear to me now that the ride was over.

I got off the ride and ran to find the exit but I couldn t find it. Suddenly I felt something was pulling me towards the Fun House. I couldn t stop the force of it. I couldn t stop it. What were they going to do with me when I was in there? I heard people screaming with laughter but I couldn t see them. What was I going to do? I opened my eyes to find myself stood in a room of mirrors. All I could see was myself and then I heard the children laughing again. It was like a wind of laughter flying towards me. I couldn t see anyone. I couldn t see a door. There was no way out, I was stuck here looking into the mirrors forever, listening to the laughter forever. By Tasha

No Way Out... All of a sudden, I didn t know where I was. How had I arrived here? In the distance, there was a rusty, towering staircase, leading to a broken merry-go-round. I started shuffling towards it. I got closer and closer. Suddenly, slowly, it started to move Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a small silhouette on the top. I blinked and when I opened my eyes it had disappeared without a trace. I wondered how to get out of this place. Then I saw it again, that small silhouette. It started to linger towards me so I started to walk slowly backwards. It got closer and closer and closer. I quickly turned and I started to run. Beneath my feet, stones stuck into my delicate shoes. I tripped over, cutting my knee and thorns protruded my face. Luckily, the silhouette had disappeared. I heard a faint voice coming from the FUN HOUSE. I wondered whether or not to check it out? I slowly walked past the fun expecting something to jump out at me. As I walked past, the floor creaked in the dismal air. Darkness began to fill my eyes and I started to wonder if anyone knew about this place or if anybody was here? I started to try and find a way out but it was no use. There was just no way of here! I saw a big, black, slimy gate. Was this the way out? By Emily

One Heart Pounding Day Suddenly, I opened my stiff, tired eyes. I looked around the ground where I was laying. On the concrete I saw a magnificent entry ticket to the theme park. Quickly, I picked it up and ran to the gates of the fair. I looked to my left and saw the ticket man. I handed it over to him and he disappeared at the speed of lightning but the gates opened I was terrified! I was I freaked out! My heart was pounding and my hair stood on end. Part of me wanted to run away, part of me wanted to investigate more. I ran and ran to the dodgem cars so I could hide in one. My body was shivering, I had goose bumps crawling up my arms... I laid in the dodgem scared out of my skin. I took a big step out of the dodgem cars and quickly sprinted to the Ferris Wheel so I could check it out. It creaked yet it was as still as water. I took a step in one of them and there were bodies on the ground with blood in their mouths. I started to run, I was scared again. I didn t like this place, it was definitely scary and I wouldn t return! Next I went to the abandoned, lonely rollercoaster. I had a look inside and there were dead rats and a weird smell. It smelt like a rotten egg. This place is full of bodies, rats and a rollercoaster with a rotten track... By Harley

One Pitch Black Night One pitch black night, I stood up with nothing around me except an old, rusty abandoned Ferris Wheel. It started to move slowly and gently, someone or something was on it In the blink of the thing was gone. He had disappeared from the top cart. I saw the dodgems. I started to walk over towards them. Every foot step I took, my heart pounded. When I got there, I saw the roof in disrepair and the dodgems sat lifeless, alone. As I moved away from the dodgems, I saw the fun house.it was not fun anymore, it was garbage, trash I stood at the front door and all that I could see was broken planks Moving away from the dodgems, I found and went on a train. Everything went pitch black and then all off a sudden something leapt out of a massive gap in the wall. I bounded out of the train and ran as fast as my legs would take me. I stopped, out of breath, and I could see a massive building before me so I went closer. I entered it. I climbed up the stairs and I saw lots of signs saying Don t pick the doom slide! I saw lots of slides from 1 to 20 so I picked number 10. I pushed myself and began to slide down. I was going so fast that I felt like I was falling until I did a loop the loop and blasted through a freezing cold area. By Kyle

Petrified I don t know why, I don t know when, I don t know how but I got there. Alone and scared. I stood still, frozen, observing the red, rusty Ferris Wheel ahead. It was rotating, slowly. The wind was blowing onto my terrified, cold face, like it was trying to tell me not to go there, but I had to. I wandered quietly over the overgrown grass to the Ferris Wheel. I was petrified, petrified of the moon, petrified of the darkness, petrified of the lonely abandoned place. Suddenly, over the towering trees, a red light appeared It crashed down onto the ground with a loud BANG! I ran and ran. I got onto the Ferris Wheel platform. It stopped moving. I got on, dreading what could happen. I went up and up and up. Then the green light appeared. I jumped out as soon as the ride stopped. I ran. I stopped running and looked around. I breathed heavily. No sight of any light. A merry-goround. Music started playing. As I got on a carousel horse, it started moving. Music turned into laughter, the trees swayed from side to side, footsteps echoed from the woods behind me. I jumped off of the merry-go-round. That s when I realised that someone, or something, was following me. I thought that this place was lifeless. But I didn t know that it was I wandered around the merry-go-round looking for any sign of life. I was hopeless and helpless. I paced back and forth telling myself that I m brave. I had my courage. I glanced at the ticket booth and saw a shadow on the wall. I followed it to the booth My heart was pounding to the beat of my footsteps. In the booth, someone was calling my name. As I lumbered towards it, two ride tickets appeared in my shivering hand. I read one - The Ghost Train. I wanted to get to the bottom of this. I looked around and saw the creaking, old ride. On the wall, a sign said Ghost Train, enter if you dare. I saw the red and green light shimmering down the ride. I sat in the old seat, peering around. I heard my mum s voice. Get out of here, get out of here. Get out of here while you still have the chance! she whispered. Her face appeared in front of me however it wasn t there for long. Hold on tight. The ride has started! boomed the voice from the speaker. The red and green light came closer and closer and closer, there was no way out of here now. I had to be brave. Now I could see that the light was actually an exit. But where did it lead? Would I come out of it alive? Suddenly a heatwave hit me. Fire. The track blazed below my feet. I closed my eyes, praying that I would get out. Praying that I would survive. I opened them. I could hear the voices of many children talking. I was one of them now. By Gabriela

Play Land All of a sudden my eyes opened. The shadowy night filled them. I felt like I was moving. I glimpsed up and saw a bright, blue cracked wall. Turning my tired eyes to one side, I saw a train track and an everlasting bridge. I was on a train My heart pounded fast. I ran, trying to find an exit. Suddenly the train door opened and a tiny sign popped out. I wandered over to take a closer look. In big, bold, red letters it said Play Land - just a few steps away! I hurdled out of the train, almost missing the platform. I lumbered a few steps, hoping to find Play Land. With every step I took, I felt danger ahead I saw a large ancient stone which was in the form of stairs. I climbed up them and saw a giant, run-down Ferris Wheel standing in front of me. I knew this was Play Land. I moved towards it while the wind was blowing me back, trying to keep me away, trying to warn me. I could hear a small, dainty voice saying Don t go! but I had to. The Ferris Wheel was moving from side to side. I heard a loud howl and in the corner of my eye I saw red, bulging eyes peeking through the green bush. I was paralysed in terror I sprinted back and tripped over the scattered sticks and stones on the ground. I sat while salted tears rolled down my round pale face. Where was I? How did I get here? Who is here with me? I needed to get out of here I heard a dismal song that sounded like it was being sung by a small, delicate, little girl, trying to warn me as the wind had before. I strolled along trying to find a telephone, a person, help. I saw a silhouette cross the bushes with a spooky laugh I didn t want to admit it, but I knew that this was the end for me

Up ahead I saw a merry-go-round. I went in the other direction. I couldn t go over there. I d had enough warnings I began to walk away, but the merry-go-round was closer to me. What was going on? I ran and ran to trying to get away. But it was no use. My heart pounded faster than it did before. It was still behind me. I jumped on to a glimmering piece of metal that led to stairs. I hurried up them, trying to get away At the top of the stairs stood a dark, green slide and there next to it stood a tall woman with glowing blonde hair. Where am I? I cried. There was no answer. Please, please tell me where I am! Still no answer. I tapped her on the shoulder. Suddenly she dropped down to the floor. I screamed and jumped down the slide in fear. I flew faster than a rocket It was pitch black and I couldn t see a thing. Without warning, I began to see light. I felt a sly grin appear on my face. I thought this was the end of the slide I was wrong I saw water. Lots of water. Very deep water... Help! Help! I can t swim! I screamed. My face touched the water. It was freezing cold. I went under I couldn t breathe I couldn t breathe I couldn t... By Faith

Shadowy Moonless Sky Suddenly I opened my worn out, aching eyes. I looked up into the shadowy moonless sky and saw leafless trees that looked like crow s feet. The trees were swiftly swaying from side to side as the wind was howling like it would never end. I heard screaming from every direction. I turned and then the screaming stopped! For a split second, ahead of me, I saw my mum and dad shouting me. I ran towards them, stumbling over the sticks and stones on the uneven ground. As I approached them, they disappeared I knew that my mind was playing tricks on me I turned to see the old carousel softly creaking as it rusted at the same time. I was daring myself to go nearer and nearer to it, I knew I wanted to but there was a familiar voice inside my head saying, Don t risk it, Don t risk it. The voice started to fade I had to risk it, I had no other choice. I ran across the overgrown grass as it was hanging on to my feet, grabbing at my ankles. I felt determined to get to that scary looking carousel. As I was got closer, the creaking got louder and louder and the carousel began to turn different colours. I realised that in the colours was a message Get out of here while you have chance and then the message changed Run! I wondered what was going on. I ran away as fast as I could as I yelled Help, Help! But nobody was there. Nobody was going to help me. All I could hear was my own voice shouting back at me, echoing around the empty place. I thought back to when I was younger, how my parents promised that they would always be there for me. Where were they now? Something else caught my eye. It was a building that was flashing every colour you could imagine, but then I stood and stared at it for a moment I realised it was a picture of my parents I was puzzled. I began to tip-toe towards the enormously tall building hoping that nothing would jump out on me or hear me coming. I was trembling at the same time, but this time as I approached the tall

building with the flashing colours, I thought it strange because my parents disappeared last time but not this time. What was happening? As I reached the inside of the tall building, I looked down and I felt dizzy. Bubble, bang, fizz! Hot lava surrounded me. It sounded like it was going to erupt like a vicious volcano. I felt my heart skip a beat. I lost my breath. There was no way out other than the slide that sat before me, patiently waiting I had to take that slide or my flesh would burn I would burn... By Maisie

TERRIBLE, RUSTY ANDTERRIFYING ROLLERCOASTERS I suddenly opened my green eyes. I couldn t see anything. Not one thing. Where was I? I quickly stood up and all I could hear was the faint drone of some freaky music. My heart started beating like a thunder storm. I was so freaked out. There were no other people around me. I was alone. My hands began to shake faster than ever before. I looked around for my mum and dad but I could not find them. It started to get light and I could see a broken rollercoaster in the coldness. I went a bit closer to it but I felt like something was following me so I ran. I started to become tearful. I looked and looked but couldn t find a way out. All I could see was broken rollercoasters and it was just laid on the floor, just left alone by someone. Abandoned. There was BLOOD EVERYWHERE! Where was I? How did I get here? There was a dark tunnel up ahead. It had a sign saying way out. I didn t know if I should believe the sign... I screamed for HELP because I was so frightened! This place was full of terrible, rusty and terrifying rollercoasters. I was scared. Scared to death... By Lily

The Abandoned Suddenly, I was awoken by what I think was the unknown! As I stood up, I saw no I felt terror! I smoothly tip-toed up the lifeless, greasy, stone steps: surrounded by the poisonous air. In the distance, through the thick, smug fog, I witnessed an ancient structure. I progressed rather rapidly and began to jigsaw together what this unclaimed monument actually was - the Ferris Wheel, which stood there, forgotten, alone, unwanted. I was startled, still looking at it, but then the whirlwind like air pinned me back and then threw me into a cart, which I entered with a BANG! It started rotating slowly, slowly and slowly until it spewed me out with a crash on the unstable, misplaced, wooden platform. I landed besides the fun house; well I assumed it used to be! As I stood to straighten myself, something appeared to my peeled eyes, it was a shadow in the once beautiful and loved fun house (which I can now announce is nothing but a death trap!). With caution, I carefully walked into the destroyed, shattered fun house. As I walked in, I heard voices from the corner of the room, whispering Come here Come here I tried to run back, but the unknown once again came to haunt me and in an instant it flung me into the traumatizing wall of doom, which I hit it at the pace of a back-breaking throw. But mysteriously, the cranky, old doors opened. I was amazed. With a sigh of relief, I happily ran through the doors, the first time I d been happy in this horrible, petrifying place which I call The Abandoned! As I cautiously crawled through the doors, I realised there was a ride in the corner. It was the Ghost Train! It was time to go, but then a fright of ghosts behind me started forcing me towards the lost ghost train. The ghosts pushed me up the steel steps leading to the ride, which was as terrifying as the fun house. I got into the ghost train and not even fastened in, it started slowly, gradually picking up the pace. It slipped off the railings, flying into a gloomy hole. I couldn t see anything but the darkness of fear and horror. Unexpectedly, a deep drop. With the wind brushing past my face, with my cheeks sticking back, it took a quick turn to the left and then I felt the air get warmer and the darkness burning away, until I saw a glow. I was relieved to see light but I felt my body get warmer, warmer, hotter. Fire! Was it a special effect? Would it go away? Was I safe? The answer was no. By Ben

THE BETRAYAL OF A GIRL Suddenly, I opened my weary blue eyes only to see pure darkness. Where was I? What had happened? As I rose to my wobbly legs, I seemed to be in a destroyed, rotten and gloomy FUN HOUSE. There was nothing but deadly silence hanging in the icy air. It seemed to have fallen into disrepair. I stumbled wearily out of the fun house and fainted in fear. I woke and I was in the middle of an abandoned theme park. I was in terror... I paced myself, running towards a rollercoaster called THE CYCLONE. As I jumped into the rusty mine cart, it shot off at an incredible speed. I looked back and there was something coming my way. My spine tingled. It was getting closer. What should I do? The ride stopped and I picked up a wooden board. I hit it. Peeking over, I saw nothing but a jet black cloak. What was it? It must have vanished. Alarmed, I moved away from the deadly ride. I ended up near the Ferris Wheel, the leafless trees moaned in the deadly sharp wind. All of a sudden, I saw a girl! While sprinting towards her, she seemed to fade away, disappear. Out of nowhere, I heard a hurtful scream. What was happening? The old, rusty Ferris Wheel started to move, very, very slowly. I sprinted to a GHOST TRAIN. I read the sign DO NOT GO ON. Surely this was someone s joke? At that moment, I saw that girl again but this time she ran to me. I was so scared. She stopped in front of me and said Come with me, it s not safe here! I put out my hand and touched her. She was not a ghost but a real person. She told me she had been trapped here for 7 lonely years. She took me towards the Tunnel of Doom, telling me it was a safe place. So I went. The tunnel was nice and calm to start with but it became a pitch black darkness. I saw an orange light. It was so bright and as we moved closer it became warmer, hotter. It was fire! I was heading right for it could this be the end of me? I cried for help as I heard the girl laughing. She had set me up By Euan

THE BOOM BANG! Suddenly I opened my eyes I stood up in shock. Where was I? I looked around trying to understand my surroundings. I was in a room full of rubble which was what I had been sleeping in. The room was very dusty. I walked around and I found a staircase leading to the surface. I went up the stairs. When I reached the top there was a decayed, rusting merry-go-round. I started to walk to the merry-go-round. I walked closer, closer and closer. The merry-go-round was pulling me towards it. It started to move and then, before I knew it, I was riding it. By now I was terrified. It stopped but then tilted to the left and tilted to the right. The ride started falling to the ground very slowly. When it was about to crash to the ground I quickly jumped out of the cart and landed on some grass. Luckily I was safe, for now... I saw a wrecked house lying there so I quickly ran in. I heard another BANG! I ran back out and now saw about 5 tonnes of rubble, stones piled on top of one another. It was the merry-go-round. I started to run. I approached an old rollercoaster. There was a sign on the rollercoaster saying BOOM! I walked up to the rollercoaster and it started to move. There was a silhouette on the rollercoaster. As it started to move, I started to move away from it. By now my heart was pounding and my mind was racing. I really had to find out where I was now. I saw a ticket on the floor. I picked it up and the date said 1932 and under it said come along to the amazing theme park... By Jake

The Day I Woke Up As I sauntered past the dark, rusty gate, it creaked at me like a warning I took a slow glimpse at the silhouette of the Ferris Wheel, it turned slowly, slowly I looked up at the purple sky. An orange moon was hanging in the midnight air. I put my foot on the first step and the dirt swept away like a cloud of bats. I edged closer, trailing my feet across the floor. As I got to THE CYCLONE rollercoaster, my heart pounded as fast as the speed of light The rollercoaster began to move, it started to build speed, flying faster and faster over the beaten track. What was going on? Was I alone? I peeked around the corner. I saw some sort of shadow. When I got to the shadow, it disappeared into the purple sky. I got to the fun house but there was no fun anymore. A rush of air was coming at me. I heard the last laugh as I put my foot to the broken floor. It was creaking. Creaking... I walked past the ticket booth. I got faster and faster, running back to the gates but they were no longer there. They had disappeared into thin air... By Dominic

The Dead Day One spooky, horrifying night, all I could remember was waking up in a deep, dark abandoned fairground I hated fairs! I would go anywhere other than a fair. The thing I hated most was clowns. I started to walk. There was no one. Not a soul around, until I saw a man, he must ve been a teenager. I yelled, Hey! but it seemed to startle him as he ran away. Was he a thief? I doubted it, why would anyone steal from this place? There was nothing here I crept over to the dull, hideous merry-go-round. I tried to open the door in the middle of the ride but it was locked. There was a broken window next to me so I climbed through it. There was nothing there. I wondered about the man again. He could have been homeless, seeking shelter? If there was someone here there had to be someone else? If not he couldn t have gone far and he could give me some information. This must be a dream! Why am I here? I was sweating like mad. I just wanted to go home! I continued to look but I still couldn t find anyone here. All I could remember was waking up but I was in the same place. I tried to find the man again but there was no hope. Everything was hopeless. Then, without a noise, I saw a man run into a strange door. I yelled again but he didn t stop. I started to chase him around the merry-go-round, around the broken food stall and through the old rotten log flume. But he was gone. I had a feeling that I would never escape! By Corey

The Deserted Theme Park Suddenly I arrived. I said to myself, Where am I? I looked around to check the coast was clear. Slowly I walked into the deserted theme park, my heart was pounding faster and faster. I walked to the deserted ticket booth but there was nobody there. I was puzzled and confused. The Ferris Wheel stood high above my head. I did not feel like going on it but I had no choice and there was no way back Darkness! When I got on the terrifying Ferris Wheel it started to go around. It went faster and faster until my head was spinning like the Waltzers. By the time it stopped I couldn t stand on my own feet. Later I managed to stagger to my feet. I slowly walked to the dodgems while I was trying to get my breath back. I was half way to the dodgems when I saw a man. I asked him where was I and he answered in croaky voice You are in an abandoned theme park and there is absolutely no way out! I screamed What? Is that what has happened to you? Without waiting for his answer, I ran to the exit as fast as I could. The exit gate was solidly shut. I went back to see if the man was still there but he was gone! My heart was pounding faster and faster. I ran to the fun house for safety but I knew I wouldn t be safe for long I took some deep breaths and checked again that the coast was clear. It was so I went out to go and find some help. I hoped I would find it... By Thomas

The Historic Ticket Suddenly, I opened my weary eyes. In the gathering gloom, darkness filled them. Where was I? What was I doing here? I walked to the empty ticket booth as sluggish rain drops dripped on my pale face I shoved against the peeling paint of the old wooden door. It scraped against the damp floor, pushing the historic tickets away I picked one up and looked at the date I feel like I have gone back in time! Could that be true? I walked away from the dilapidated ticket booth, wondering My heart pounded, my mind raced. I peered through the towering trees. I craned my neck, trying to see (but the trees were too high). As I moved through them, I glimpsed at the wooden, splintered rollercoaster that stood tall before me. I ran to it in a rush. All of a sudden, I stopped and walked through the overgrown grass. It clutched heavily at my feet, trying to drag me to the ground, trying to keep me away from the abandoned ride. Even though I knew that the grey metal track was defective and nothing could really run on it anymore, I could see the silhouette of an abandoned carriage balancing at the top of what was once The Death Drop! An instant later I heard a screeching and scraping of metal I looked up to see sparks flying into the dark sky as the carriage hurtled down towards me like a pouncing,

dangerous wild animal! I dived to the right like Superman trying to get to safety and out of reach of the carriage. Pulling myself up, I sprinted as fast as a cheetah over to the (un-fun) Fun House. From the state of the building, I knew there was going to be no fun in the Fun House anymore! The murky, trashed windows looked like unseeing eyes. Should I go in? Or should I not? I decided to walk in the unused Fun House. To my surprise, I was met by many colours From the floor, I picked up a ticket. I read it, not quite believing my eyes the date was 2014! By Kaden

The Last Day Of My Life Slowly, I woke up, my head hurting, my back aching. I looked up and found myself in an old car park with a large gate. I read the sign, Beware! There s no coming back I opened the old, rusty gate. There was a shadow of a Ferris Wheel, casting over me like a spiders web. There was a constellation of stars hovering over me like a cloud of bats mocking the thick air. After I saw the wheel, a scary theme tune began to play Suddenly, a murder of crows pounced like a cheetah from the abandoned dodgems. Cautiously, I approached them. The carts shadows looked like an animal about to attack. The wind howled and swayed. I was petrified of the hair-raising sight before me I ran to the rusty, wrecked rollercoaster. The wind barked, howled and whistled. I climbed up a tree, determined to get away from my worst nightmare A creeping shadow chased me to the tree but then disappeared. My heart pounded as my mind rustled like a leaves in a paper bag. My leg got caught on the tree as I was going down, but I still ran away, was there a way out? I rushed as my leg throbbed in pain, trying to find a way out, I then realised that the sign was right. I began to question myself. I was trapped, it couldn t end for me, not yet I had to go, I couldn t give up. The voice in in my head told me that there was a way out of here. Or else it was the end for me. I had to take that chance. I ran to the death dropper and I reached the top. I was on a tall mountain, waiting to go on the ride. Then I dropped from the mountain, down the death dropper. I was helpless, falling. I suddenly saw a bright light... By Stevie

THE OLD ROLLERCOASTER Suddenly I woke up and heard a big sound in my bedroom. But then I realised I wasn t in my bedroom after all I was laid in a tree! I fell out of the tree and THE GATE OPENED I looked around and I heard another sound! I was so scared my eyes closed before my mouth let out a terrible scream... I felt so frightened. I said Hello, is anybody there? and nobody answered me. I began to walk but every step I took I was more scared. I walked further and an old man was laid on a pile of bricks with BLOOD EVERYWHERE I was about to ask if he was okay but he wasn t there anymore... After that I ran away feeling frightened then stopped running. I had a big shock on my face! Where was I? How did I get here? I was so scared because it was so dark and damp but sticky. There were cobwebs everywhere. The theme park was very dark and dull. There were rollercoasters that were very old and broken.i was scared to death! It was becoming so dark that I couldn t see a thing. It was spooky. It was terrifying. By Ellesse

The Park of Terror I woke up. It was a stormy day. Where was I? I looked around. I was in a horrifying, terrifying FUN PARK. I paused for a moment. I was alone. I was scared. I SCREAMED! I heard a noise. What was it? I didn t know Suddenly there was a little girl in front of me. She started to lead me towards the creepy fun house. I was terrified. We walked all around the FUN PARK. Suddenly, a ghost appeared out of nowhere. He grabbed the girl and went into a dark cave. I was looking everywhere. There was a sign saying no exit so I walked in and the girl was in there but it was too late... I went on the Hollywood ride and it went really fast! I SCREAMED really loud. I tried to get off of the ride but it held me in. I knew then that I couldn t get out of the fun park. The ride was too extreme. I started to cry badly. I missed my mum. I missed being with my family. Close by I saw a Ferris Wheel spinning around slowly. It got slower by the minute. Why is a nobody here I said to myself? And with that the ride stopped and I got off. Suddenly I felt something. I thought it was a ghost. I double checked if anybody was there and I saw it. Chains burst around my ankles. Would I ever escape? By Masie

The Quiet Place There I was, standing in the middle of the gloomy, ghostly fair. The darkness surrounded me as I stood still. I couldn t see anything while the fog was lurking around in the air, but then I saw a mysterious shadow appear on the floor. Anxiously, I started to run towards the Ferris Wheel. As soon as I got there, I saw a ray of light shine at the top. I glared at it, wondering what it was. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder. I screamed and ran as fast as I could, I stopped and looked around, a tear drop fell from my eye. I walked and walked and walked until I reached a dead end, I was terrified of where I was. I wanted to go home but there was no way out. I heard voices behind me. I didn t know what I could do. I ran but I didn t know where I was going. I still kept running until my legs couldn t take all the running and walking. I fell to the ground, sobbing in to my hands, shouting for help. No one answered me; it was silent. I wasn t used to such quiet places. In the distance I saw an enormous, black gate. I got up even though my legs were really hurting. I finally got there. I went to touch it but before I could a wind picked and began to blow me away. Then I realised that the gate I saw was a painting, a mural on the wall so I had walked all this way to find out that it was nothing. I d been so relieved when I thought it was a way out. I started to cry and walk towards the Ferris Wheel. I saw a sparkling light and when I looked at it I heard a voice. I realised that it was the light that was speaking to me. I spoke to it. I asked it for a way out. It told me that if you follow the muddy road with footprints along it you would find yourself in a better place. I started to move towards the muddy trail. I fell. Falling down a deep hole, unable to hold on to anything. It wouldn t end. I didn t stop falling. I fell for ever and ever By Lucy

The Rusty Ferris Wheel I woke up and my eyes were blurry but all I could see was a rusty, rotting Ferris Wheel towering above me. There was something on it... then, in a blink of my eye, it was gone! Behind me was a huge, deserted rollercoaster. As I approached it, I felt the weeds on the ground lock around my ankles like they were trying to pull me back warning me not to go on. As I got closer to the rollercoaster, I could hear it creaking and groaning as though it was trying to tell me to go away. In the shadows I could see something lurking, waiting for me Should I go on? Should I run while I still had a chance? In an instant the shadowy figure disappeared! I slowly moved closer, my heart was beating like it had never beaten before, pounding and hammering inside my chest. All at once I looked at the side of me, the only thing I could see was rust upon rust and a mine cart that came thundering down the slope as fast as an F1 racing car. I jumped out of the way as quickly as a flea. As I jumped out of the way, I landed on the cold, hard ground and banged my head. Blackness covered my eyes... By Cameron

The Rusty Gates Suddenly, I walked through some vast, black, rusty gates. I stopped for a moment. I didn t know what was happening. Then I took a look around - I saw a wet, creaky wooden rollercoaster standing all by itself, swaying gently in the breeze. For some reason, the rollercoaster scared me but I walked closer. The branches of the trees looked like gigantic spider webs towering above me and they wrapped themselves around the frame of the rollercoaster. I realised I was in an abandoned theme park. I walked away from the wooden rollercoaster and I saw a carriage of what was once the terrifying ghost train. I really couldn t believe eyes My heart was pounding. I wanted to run away but I heard the gates screech to a close behind me. As I walked towards the ghost train, I wondered if anyone else was there. Was it only me? Really was it only me? A voice in my head told me it was. I screamed as loud as I could. I was the most scared person on the planet. I took 10 steps and I saw a fun house, but was it going to be fun? All that was left was the front of the fun house. The doors were off their hinges, drooping sadly, knocking against the wooden wall. I saw a sign saying If you go through this door, you won t come back I didn t want to go in there but I had no choice. I had to go through the door to find a way out. I went in and all I could see was a gigantic murky hole. Here goes it is now or never By Dane

The Silhouette on the Ferris Wheel Suddenly, I opened my eyes. I looked to see where I was and I was puzzled because I was lying in a pile of dirty leaves. How did I get there? I was scared, I wondered where I was? Over in the darkness, I could make out, by the scary shadows, an abandoned fairground. I turned around and on the top of an old Ferris Wheel was a silhouette, standing alone, watching me. The silhouette was at the top of the gigantic structure but when it came back around it had disappeared. What on earth was going on here? I started walking again. I saw a shadow. I didn t know what it was at first but as I got closer, I realised that it was the ghost train. I got on and it started to move. I saw all these white mists. Then I saw a sign saying Danger. I wanted to get off, I was scared but the ride wouldn t stop. A voice said Thank you for riding Where had it come from? I made my way over to the merry-go-round. It had many horses with strange faces. I could see on one horse that its neck was bent. I sat on one of them and it started to move, slowly, delicately. From nowhere, someone started screaming. I didn t know where it was coming from. I was completely freaked out. After exiting the merry-go-round, I ran over to some gates. Surely they were the way out? I was wrong. I wanted to go now, I wanted to leave. I went into a building. I was in the dark, on my own, the silence drowning me. I just wanted to jump over the wall and go home. I kept reassuring myself but I didn t believe it. A tunnel up ahead said way out. I wondered if it was the way out of the theme park but I couldn t take any more risks I had already taken enough chances going on the merry-goround and on the ghost train. The tunnel up ahead was horrific. I didn t know if I should go in it or not because what if was the way to my doom? Or what if it actually was the way out? It looked creepy and petrifying. I didn t know what to do; I just really wanted to go home. Where was my mum? Where was my dad? I had to go through the tunnel, I had no choice. I had to take another chance and if this is the way out to my mum and dad or out of this fair, I had to take it. I started walking towards the tunnel and in I went. It wasn t too bad, except then someone was making noises. I started to become scared and it felt like someone was following me... I was nearly at the end of the tunnel. Was it the way out or not? I got to the end and it wasn t. It was the way to a place full of horrible things! There appeared to be a fun house with loads of wood inside, broken wood. I didn t go inside as I feared the wood might fall on me and trap me. I turned around to look the other way and I heard people screaming and wood falling! There were people inside the building. People trapped. Was it real or was someone, something trying to get me to go inside? I had to go in. It was dark. It was freaky. I walked past a lifeless body on the floor. Then, as the light glimmered, the body stood up... By Abbie

The Skeleton Hmm... Where am I? What is this? I looked around but I didn t see anything at first but as I looked around some more I saw a tall skeleton! I dashed away as fast as I could go towards a museum. Then I saw a corpse! It got out of the coffin and it began to chase me back to the tall skeleton but for some reason the skeleton protected me. He kicked the corpse s head off and then the skeleton said There s no escape, before running into the dark. Then I saw the exit and I ran towards it. I almost escaped but it pulled me back in. I walked to the merry-go-round. The music began slowly... I saw the bumping cars, they were all broken. Nobody could go on them and the walls were broken too so I left. I walked to a platform, there was a statue, it began to follow me. I saw a rollercoaster. I saw a sign. It said Do not go on it. Do not go on it. and below it said Hell is real! I thought it was the name of the rollercoaster. I ignored the sign and approached the rollercoaster. It went so high and then I fell out. I woke up and saw a tall skeleton... By Joshua

Without Warning... Without warning, I woke up thinking I was in bed. I was wrong. There were rides surrounding me but they were abandoned, wrecked, unused. I heard a loud noise. It was coming from the rollercoaster. I went to see what it was and suddenly the track fell, crashing to the ground, missing me by an inch! I wanted to go home but I didn t know my way back. I didn t even know the name of this abandoned park. I was terrified. In the distance I saw a man in an ice cream van. I went over to him but as I got closer I could see that there was no one there. The van was empty I moved on, biting my nails, feeling even more confused and nervous. I saw the train go down the rollercoaster, pushed by the wind how could that be? I saw the entrance gate and decided to go towards it, to escape. I tried to get out but I couldn t open it and it was too high to climb I m trapped! I began to panic. This was the end for me The nearby Ferris Wheel began to move slowly very slowly. One of the rusty parts fell off, crashing into the ground as the night began to draw in. The ride was once the greatest there but now it was past its best. The Ferris Wheel continued to move... I was famished and dehydrated. I saw a sign Danger Ahead! I went the other way. I saw a slide and it looked pretty long. I decided to go down it. It was wild and as fast as a rollercoaster. It was time to get out while I had the chance. I could feel a sense of doom, a sense that something bad was going to happen. I was right By Archie
