1 PROCEDURES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 2014/2015 Dear students, Firstly, welcome to our University. We hope your study period here will be satisfactory and pleasant. It is our intention to make enrolment as easy as possible. You will need to complete and submit various forms to register for courses at the university. Please pay attention to the following steps: 1. MODULE REGISTRATION FORM In order to register for courses, please click on the following link: It is VERY IMPORTANT that you fill in this form correctly: - ATTENTION: Learning agreements could contain a 20% maximum of courses different from the student s faculty. - Look up the name of the module in the academic offer. Write down the code and number of credits of the module you have chosen. - If your study period is only one semester, choose modules which only run for that semester.

2 - Please fill in ALL the information required: o Teacher/Professor: He or she is the person in charge of the course you are taking. He or she will teach the course and you will take exams and tests with him or her. (Advice: ask the professor his or her name during the lesson as this could avoid future problems with your records). o Degree code: You will find the degree code in one of the documents provided on the website : /Degree Codes o Group: You should specify if you are going to be in a morning or afternoon group. If there are several groups in the morning or afternoon, you also need to specify which group you will attend. Ex: M1: morning group T1: afternoon group T2: second group of the afternoon. - Inscription period: it will be told by when avalaible. - REMEMBER: If you do not complete the form, we will not be able to provide a certificate to your home university. 2. STUDENT ID CARD The student ID card allows you to use all the services and facilities the University offers (e.g. borrow books form the library, use computers in the computer rooms, access the WebCT, etc.). With this card, you may benefit from some additional discounts offered for students in the city.

3 In order to obtain your student card, you need to give us an ID photograph at your arrival. 3. SCHEDULE You can download see schedules via the following link: Basic concepts about schedules: Every subject is divided into two parts: EB: Enseñanzas básicas: Big group lectures (up to 60 students) where the foundations of the different disciplines are approached. EPD: Enseñanzas prácticas y de desarrollo: Small seminars (up to 20 students) where various activities and tasks are put into practice so as to assimilate knowledge. Please, note that you will have to attend both EB and EPD in order to pass the course. Usually you will find the classroom within the schedule document.

4 4. SOME ADVICES - You need to give a student form ( FICHA ESTUDIANTE ) to all your professors. Write on the top Erasmus student or International student. You can buy this Ficha from the book store located in the Celestino Mutis building. - We encourage you to talk to your academic coordinator as they will be able to advise you about module choices. You can find the name of your Spanish coordinator in Internet: 5. INTENSIVE SPANISH COURSE A FREE SPANISH COURSE for BEGINNERS (A1) is offered to all international students with little or no knowledge of Spanish. The course is designed for students who really need to improve their knowledge of Spanish language in order to take full advantage of their time at our University. The course is 50 hours long and it takes place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30. If you are interested in taking this course, please write to lrobper@admon.upo.es and mjruisut@upo.es, indicating your name, nationality, address and if you have studied Spanish before.

5 Important dates: - Inscription deadline: September, 16 th - Test date: September, 18 th - Start date: September, 25 th 6. ZONA ERASMUS - CERTIFICATES From the Zona Erasmus you will be able to download some documents as the certificate of arrival or the transcript of records when these were available. In order to access, please enter your username and password:

6 IMPORTANT: The Certificate of attendance will be signed at the end of your study periods and will be given only to the student concerned. If you cannot bring it by yourself, the departure date will be that of the last exam done.

7 7. WIFI-CONFIGURATION You will have access to internet by introducing your user name and password. Nevertheless it could be necessary to configure your laptop; in that case, please go to the Centro de Informática y Comunicaciones, in building 6, ground floor. 8.
