3 Data Set Credit: Victoria E. Mitchell, Ruth E. Vance, Earl H. Bennett, B. Benjamin E. Studer Data Quality Information: Attribute Accuracy: Attribute Accuracy Report: Mine locations visually checked against 1:250,000 Mines and Prospect Series maps for completeness. Logical Consistency Report: Mine and prospect data in this compilation were visually compared against topographic maps and other mining record sources to determine errors. Completeness Report: Sources or data: published and unpublished reference materials, the U.S. Geological Survey's Mineral Resources Data System (MRDS), and the U.S. Bureau of Mines' Mineral Industry Location Subsystem (MILS) Positional Accuracy: Horizontal Positional Accuracy: Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report: Horizontal accuracy is difficult to quantify for point location data of this type. Data was compiled from many sources and plotted on 1:250,000-scale maps. One location was selected for entire mine. MOST LOCATIONS ACCURATE TO 800 METERS OR.5 MILES. Lineage: Process Step: Process Description: See ReadMe.txt file for compilation history. Process Date: Process Step: Process Description: Each mine or prospect contains sections of information from the IGS's files and selected fields from the U.S. Bureau of Mines MILS database and the U.S. Geological Survey's
4 MRDS database. Process Date: Process Step: Process Description: The IGS's latitude and longitude (fields 12 and 13) are the best available location for the property and were determined by digitizing location points from the original 1:250,000 scale Mines and Prospects publications. Overview Description: (Database of the Mines and prospects data) Entity and Attribute Overview Description: Published and unpublished reference materials, the U.S. Geological Survey's Mineral Resources Data System (MRDS), and the U.S. Bureau of Mines' Mineral Industry Location Subsystem (MILS). See ReadMe.txt file in data set for more information. Every effort has been made to make the database complete and accurate; however, any additions or corrections should be directed to the Idaho Geological Survey. Periodic revisions of this database will be issued as new information is added. Each mine or prospect is identified by its map location number, which is also the property number in the IGS's mining property files (See ReadMe.txt file in data set for more information). Latitude and longitude fields are the best available location for the property. One location was selected for entire mine property. Production figures were compiled from U.S. Bureau of Mines' unpublished records (See ReadMe.txt file in data set for more information).
