Pre- prgram Specific Requirements Applicants fr cmpetitive prgrams must als meet all pre- prgram specific requirements prir t qualifying fr ranking. The fllwing is required fr all applicants: Cmplete a Surgical Technlgy Cmpetitive Admissins Orientatin in persn r n- line when available. Must file a degree plan with designated Health Success Cach. Current CPR Certificatin at the Prfessinal Level (Must be frm American Heart Assciatin Healthcare Prvider), must include AED. Cmpleted current Physical Exam Cmpleted Technical Standards frm Meet current immunizatin requirements. Cmpleted Hepatitis B vaccinatin series f 3 and Titer (can take 4-6 mnths t cmplete)/if a student has started the Hepatitis B series by ranking deadline June 1 st, he r she may be cleared fr ranking r registratin with the understanding that the series must be cmpleted in a timely manner prir t starting clinical curses. Dcumentatin f starting the series must be n file.

3 Tuberculsis Screening and/r testing annually, r chest x- rays and questinnaire (annual). 2 dses Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) and Titer 2 dses Varicella Vaccinatin and Titer Tetanus/Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap) every 10 years Influenza Vaccinatin annually Meningitis r bster (Effective January 1, 2012, a Bacterial meningitis is required fr all entering students under the age f 22. The term entering students includes new students t OC, transfer students, and returning students, Students must prvide prf f an initial meningitis immunizatin r bster. Prvide prf f health insurance which must be maintained thrughut the prgram. Additinal Infrmatin Prgram Start Dates: Fall Maximum Students Admitted: 10 students A student has three years t cmplete the Assciate Degree r level II certificate in Surgical Technlgy after fficial enrllment in the first Surgical Technlgy curse. Students will be expected t pay the fees that are assciated with TSI Assessment testing. Backgrund Check and Substance abuse screening are PRE Admissins requirements. Pst Admissins Requirements Students are respnsible fr the fllwing requirements AFTER accepting a seat in the prgram: PROGRAM ORIENTATION: ne day in persn rientatin. CLINICAL ORIENTATION (Online) HIPAA TRAINING: HIPAA Access Online. Unifrms, Specialized Equipment, Lab Supplies and Liability Insurance required fr clinical. Pint Ranking System As part f the admissin criteria, the pint values fr all Surgical Technlgy applicants will be ttaled. A rank rdered list f Surgical Technlgy applicants by pint ttal will be develped. The applicants with the highest number f pints will be admitted int the Surgical Technlgy Prgram each year until all available spts are filled. Alternates: Three alternates will be accepted. Ties: Applicatin packets will be time/date stamped and if a Pint Tie ccurs, applicants will be accepted based n first cme basis.

4 Pints are calculated based upn the fllwing criteria: Grade Pint Average (GPA): The GPA will be taken frm the High Schl Transcript unless the student has cmpleted 12 cllege credit hurs with at least 4 being in the Math/Science area. The cumulative grade pint average f 2.5 (4.0 system) will be based n the general educatin curses cmpleted within the Surgical Technlgy Prgram plan f study nly. GPA Pints Awarded Students requesting admissin with fewer than 12 semester credit hurs f cllege level wrk, r presenting a high schl GPA fr cnsideratin, will have pints awarded as fllws: GPA Pints Awarded

5 TSI: exempt based n SAT, ACT, r STAR they will receive the highest number f pints; if remedial curse was required t be taken the fllwing pints will be awarded: A= 6 pints, B= 4 pints and C= 2 pints.
