3 Introduction ET100 is a intelligence telematic device, developed to obtain GPS position of the controlled mobile assets, collecting and transferring data about position and sensors sate through GSM/GPRS channels. ET100 mobile device is easy to install, it doesn t need permanent service. Device can be installed on trucks, private vehicles, ships, containers and any other mobile and fixed assets, which status is needed to be monitored in real time or on request basis.. With ET100 devices you will be able to obtain up to date information about vehicle position and status. Object position will be shown on a dispatcher electronic map with 10m sensitivity. ET100 is a powerful tool for logistics managers. Using this operative information, managers will get outstanding possibilities for fast and reliably orders completing. This will increase planning efficiency and reduce the time of fleet waiting and down time. Operative data transmission, analysis and full control on fleet operation fill bring you possibility to increase efficiency and reduce fleet operation costs. ET100 is a new communication platform, which basis unit is specially developed for use for mobile assets management. 5 Installation Device installation must be made by certified auto electrician. Please keep in mind, when you made installation by yourself you can make permanent damage not only for ET100 device, but also for vehicle on-board electronic equipment. Carefully read this installation manual before starting installation process, and follow all necessary precautions during this jobs.. During the installation process it is necessary to fulfill such terms: Install and remove SIM card only when device power is turned off. Connect to external devices only when device power is turned off. Use only 3V external GPS antenna (I.max ma). When ET100 outputs need to work with inductive load (relay and so on) it is necessary to install external protective (damped) diode. Device usage precautions Electrical safety Maximal input power voltage for ET100 device is 50V, there is not necessary any additional high voltage protection when this condition is complained. ET100 usage with flammable substance presence: Customers must be warned about limitation of radio equipment usage in fuel storage places, chemical production places and places with the risk of explosives detonation. Other radio equipment affection: For best performance it is recommended to install device and external GPS antenna as far as possible from other radio transmitting equipment. Medical equipment affection: Modern radio transmitting equipment and GSM modems can affect working of not protected medical equipment. What to do if your ET100 device and SIM card is stolen. If your ET100 device is stolen together with SIM card, you need immediately ask your GSM operator to block operation of this SIM card. 5 P age

7 STEP 1 PRELIMINARY DEVICE PREPARATION Before installation, make sure that the device has installed and active GSM SIM-card. Important Note! You must disable pin code request on your SIM-card. You also need to ensure SMS and GPRS connection possibilities of your SIM-card. In case if you wish to use Hands Free system with your ET100 device you need to activate also voice calling service for this SIM-card with your GSM operator. Insert prepared as described above SIM-card (SIM must be active, with disabled PIN-code request) into the sim holder. Now you can assemble the unit, and move to the installation process. Important Note: For the future unit configuration in NaviFleet Client software you will be asked for such information: GSM number of your SIM-card installed in the unit GSM SMS centre number of your GSM operator SIM card id (19 digit number, which is printed on the back side of your sim card, this number you can obtain also by sending special System command from the NaviFleet software ver ) APN, login and password for your operator GPRS data connection Report this parameters, and also vehicle model, manufacturer and registration number to our regional distributor, or directly to EcoTelematics Group support centre support@ecotelematics.com. 8 STEP 2 (Trucks) OBJECT INSPECTION Depend on the tasks what installation of ET100 must resolve, unit may be installed visible or hidden. ET100 devices are well protected to work in aggressive environment (IP67 class protection). Unit must be well fixed, to avoid any possible movement during the vehicle operation. On the picture below is shown possible places for device installation. Place 1. In most vehicles in this place you can found all necessary power or vehicle busses connection. Also in this place is enough free space to put the ET100 device and fix it. Place 2. This place, same as the place 1, is situated near the fuses box, what give you a opportunity to make fast connection to vehicle power line and CAN busses, without using long connection wires. Place 3. In many cargo vehicles dashboard can be easily dismount. ET100 device can be fit in space behind the dashboard if a free space can allow this. As a advantage of using this place is that behind the dashboard of most vehicles you can found Fuel Tank sensor wires. Connection to this wires, will provide you with a data about fuel tank capacity (check STEP 4) Place 4. This place is mostly used for installation of client equipment to almost any cargo vehicles. Many free space and closeness to a fuse box makes installation in this place easy and comfortable. Place 5. This place is used rarely. But it can be used, if the construction of the vehicle gives you a chance to get behind the sheathing, and make installation in this place. When unit need to be installed in wet places, will be better to fix it in vertical position, with face plate down. 8 P age

9 STEP 2.1 (Trucks) INSTALLATION OF GPS/GSM ANTENNA Installation of GPS antenna, as installation of ET100 device, can be done hidden or not. When you choose the place, where to install GPS antenna you must to remember, that all metals will block signal from GPS satellite. So you must place GPS antenna in place with clear sky view, without any metal cover over it. In the pictures below, you can see how changes the visibility of GPS signal depend on GPS antenna location in the vehicle: When you wish to install GPS antenna outside of the cabin of the vehicle, you must remember, that not every GPS antenna can resist weather circumstances during the seasons changes with periods of high heat and rains in the summer, and low temperatures and ice in the winter time. Recommendation: choosing the place, where the GPS antenna to install, think advance about the ways to make cabling of GPS antenna wires until the place, where the ET100 device will be installed. GPS antenna must be installed in the place with clear sky view, and with «Face to satellite» mark up. 9 P age

10 STEP 2 (Cars and mini busses) OBJECT INSPECTION Depend on the tasks what installation of ET100 must resolve, unit may be installed visible or hidden. As a rule, behind the vehicle computer, or car audio system you can found some free space, which will allow you to install ET100 device, and also found all necessary power connections.. Place 4. This is an optimal place to install ET100 device to a car or mini bus vehicle if the free space allows to do this. Nearness of the Place 1 will allow you easy to connect ET100 device to vehicle power, also the nearness of the Place 6 will allow you to connect to vehicle fuel sensors wires. Place 5. Because of nearness of the vehicle airbag system, you must use this place of possible ET100 installation with caution. Place 6. ET100 device can be fit in free space behind the dashboard. As a advantage of using this place is that behind the dashboard of most vehicles you can found Fuel Tank sensor wires. Connection to this wires, will provide you with a data about fuel tank capacity (check STEP 4) Place 7. This place is rarely used on cars, but can be well used on mini busses. Installing the ET100 device in that place, you probably must be use a long power and sensor connecting wires. Please take care about the wires length before the installation process is started. Place 8. Armrest of the vehicle can also be used as the installation place for ET100 devices. But installing device here, you probably will face with difficulties of wiring. Also car trunk can be used to install the unit in cars. When unit need to be installed in wet places, will be better to fix it in vertical position, with face plate down. 10 P age

11 STEP 2.1 (Cars and mini busses) - INSTALLATION OF GPS/GSM ANTENNA Installation of GPS antenna, as installation of ET100 device, can be done hidden or not. 12 STEP 3 CABLING AND VEHICLE POWER CONNECTION Please follow instructions of Appendix 3 and Appendix 4 when prepare the unit to be installed. It is important to keep unit protection class (IP67). Also you need to connect external GPS/GSM antenna to NaviFleet ET100 unit. GPS antenna must be installed in the place with clear sky view, and with «Face to satellite» mark up. The minimal connection ET100 device is needed to provide GPS position of the vehicle is vehicle power connection. The pins of ET100 connector used to connect vehicle power, is shown on the picture below: Positive power (PIN21) of ET100 device must be connected to permanent vehicle power (ACC; +30). Possible working voltage for ET100 device is between 8,5 and 50 V. Negative wire (PIN35) must be connected to vehicle ground. Note: You need to ensure of good contact on both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE power wires connections on vehicle side, when connecting power wires. You can use soldering if it is necessary to establish good contact. Ensure that connection places, was discovered correctly and necessary voltages will present at this points all the time, independently of vehicle ignition key position. Warning! For getting all the best from NaviFleet reporting system, we hardly recommend to connect also SENSORS, INPUTS and OUTPUTS of ET100. Connection of the following sensors is described in STEP 4 of current manual. 12 P age

13 STEP 4 SENSORS, INPUTS, OUTPUTS AND BUSSES CONNECTION The optimal connection of ET100 sensors and wires is shown at the picture below: Connecting to the vehicle buses (CAN, FMS, RS485) Connection to the vehicle CAN bus will provide you with the vehicle internal data, such as fuel consumption, tank fuel level, distance and much more. Parameters obtained from the CAN bus of the vehicle by ET100 device depends on vehicle model, and may be vary from vehicle to vehicle. For CAN bus connection it is necessary to connect PIN11 to CAN Hi, and PIN22 to CAN Low wire of the vehicle bus. How to find a place to connect: CAN bus wires is always a twisted pair wires, contained of two wires CAN-High and CAN-Low when vehicle engine is on, this wires voltage is: for CAN-High from +2,5V to +3,5V; for CAN-Low from +2V to +3V twisted pair is consist of two wires with opposite colors (cold - warm) CAN-High wire, mostly has the cold colors grey, green, blue, violet and so on CAN-Low wire, mostly has the warm colors white, orange, yellow, brown and so on CAN bus twisted pair is mostly available in the places, where the electronic control equipment of the vehicle is located (ECU, VDO, VECU, ABS, EDC). Also CAN bus wires can be found behind the dashboard (mostly when the dashboard contain LCD screen of the vehicle trip computer). Please note that on some models of the vehicles CAN bus must be activated by the authorized service center of the manufacturer to make it available to third parties electronic equipment. RS485 data connection For RS485 data bus connection it is necessary to connect PIN33 of the unit to RS485 (A) of connected equipment, and PIN10 to RS485 (B). Analog Input sensors connection Analog Input sensors of your ET100 device can be used to control tank fuel level of your vehicles, and also for voltage and current control in places where you need it. 13 P age

14 To connect Analog Sensor, you need to connect PIN26 (Analog Sensor 1) and/or PIN14 (Analog Sensor 2) of ET100 connector to the vehicle fuel sensor. Working voltage for both Analog 1 and Analog 2 Sensors is from 0 to 40V. Note! Analog Sensor connection to vehicle fuel tank sensor is possible only if this sensors use analog signal to operate. If vehicle fuel sensors utilize digital signals it is impossible to connect Analog Sensors to this type of vehicle. Useful hints: On most vehicles manufactured until 2002/2004 year, the best place to connect to fuel sensor is the dashboard (if it is equipped with fuel sensor arrow). Signal voltage on fuel sensor can change during the fueling straight from minimum voltage to maximum (minimal voltage will means an empty fuel tank), and also backward, from maximum to minimum, on another vehicle models (maximum voltage will means an empty fuel tank). Signal voltage can be vary from 0 to 5-10V. Warning! Don t make attempt to connect to the unknown wires, doing so you can damage not only ET100 device, but also vehicle on-board electronic! Note! Power cables, sensors, input and output wires of ET100 device must be placed away from any mechanical moving parts of the vehicle, reliable fixed, and additionally isolated if it is necessary. 15 STEP 5 EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT CONNECTION For external equipment for ET100 device, we mean any equipment that can be connected to ET100 interfaces (RS232, RS485, USB, IN1-8, OUT1-4, An1-2). External equipment brings you a possibility to significantly increase the possibilities of ET100 device. RS232(1), RS232(2), RS485 communication interfaces Analog 1, Analog 2 analog inputs USB USB Client connection 1W 1 wire Dallas ibutton interface IN1-IN8 ET100 Inputs OUT1-OUT4 ET100 Outputs HF Hands Free connection Note: During the external devices installation and connecting process follow the instructions of external device manufacturer. Make all jobs according of accident prevention norms and techniques. All manufacturer requirements for installation process must be described in attached installation materials and manuals. You can found short list with description of external equipment which is possible to connect to ET100 device in the Appendix No.1 of the current manual. 16 STEP 6 UNIT PLACEMENT, FINISHING AND QUALITY CONTROL Carefully fix all wires and cables connected to ET100 device throughout all the length of the wires. Remember, that the power cables, sensors, inputs and outputs wires of ET100 device must be placed away from any mechanical moving parts of the vehicle, reliable fixed, and additionally isolated if it is necessary. Connect external GPS and GSM antennas to the ET100 device. Connect main connector to the ET100device. Make sure, that device is functioning. You must see device LED activity on the front panel. Reliable fix the ET100 device in the place you choose to install it Contact the dispatcher or project manager of installation process for confirmation of unit working status, and confirm that all attached external equipment is working as desired. Warning! Installation process can t be considered as finished, while confirmation of working status of all installed equipment, sensors, buses, inputs and outputs was received! 16 P age

17 Appendix No.1 ET100 EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT 1. Fuel level sensor LLS: sensors provide exactly data about quantity of any liquids in any kind of storage capacity. 2. Flow control fuel sensor Aquametro: sensor can be used for exactly control fuel consumption and any other liquids flow on any kind of vehicles, such as trucks, cars, ships, trains or standalone fuel storages. It is possible to exactly control straight and forward fuel flow using of a couple of such sensors simultaneously on one ET100 device 3. Hands Free system with Spy mode: system is used for voice communication with driver. You can make calls and answer on incoming calls with this system. Also it is possible to activate SPY mode to make sound monitoring in the vehicle cabin. 4. Garmin nuvi navigation system: personal navigation system combined with ET100 device on your vehicle, allow you not only easy found your destination on the road. This system will bring you much more opportunities, such as two side message communication between driver and dispatcher, new tasks sending to the driver with ready to navigate coordinates and also task execution control system. 5. ibutton driver identification system: using of this identification system will allow you to register and control working time of your drivers. Even if they change a number of vehicles during the day. 6. Vehicle diagnostic system ElmScan OBDII: ElmScan system is used to remotely collect and transmit to dispatcher information about vehicle technical status. Dispatcher will know about any fault codes appeared on the vehicle. And also many other technical parameters about vehicle status. 7. Temperature control system: this system is used to control inside and outside temperature in refrigerators and in every place where such control is needed. 8. Passenger counting system IRMA: system will allow you to count passengers flow at every bus stop, and compare this data to date and time when, information was taken. 17 P age

19 Appendix No.3 Inserting pins to NaviFleet ET100 main connector. Pull red part of the connector to the position shown on picture 1 (but not remove it at all). Insert all necessary pins as shown on picture2. Fix connector by pushing red part as shown on picture 3. PICTURE.1 PICTURE.2 PICTURE.3 Move the red wedge lock to the open position as follows: Insert the tip of a screwdriver having a blade between 2 and 5 mm [.078 and.196 in.] wide between the edge of the plug assembly housing and one corner of the red wedge lock Gently pry the edge of the red wedge lock until it is released from (but not completely out of) the housing. Repeat these steps for the opposite corner of the red wedge lock. Gently pull the wire of the contact to be removed while rotating the wire (a quarter turn each direction) back and forth until the contact is removed from the housing.
