V O T E S O C I A L S E R V I C E S The decrease in appropriation reflects transfers to the 2001/02 year for the Family Start Evaluation and Family Dynamics initiatives, due to timing changes, transfer of the purchase and monitoring role of housing to the Ministry of Housing, partially offset by increases in funding for the set up of Ngai Tahu whanau development workers, and the Australian-NZ Social Security negotiations. D2 Information Technology Services to other Departments Total Appropriations for (Mode B Gross) Non-Departmental Output Classes 50, ,021 - Provision of an IT infrastructure for the Department of Work and Income, the Department of Child, Youth and Family Services and the Ministry of Social Policy. 81,390 - (233) - 81,157 - Commissioners
5 O1 Commissioner for Children Purchase of services from the Commissioner for Children including the identification of aspects of law, policy and practice that might adversely affect children and the development and proposal of remedies. It also includes discharge of the Commissioner's duties under the CYP&F Act. O2 Retirement Commissioner 4, ,783 - Purchase of services from the Retirement Commissioner to develop and promote methods of improving the effectiveness of retirement income policies. This is achieved through evaluation, the publishing of information and the delivery of a comprehensive public education programme on retirement savings issues. Total Appropriations for Non- 5, ,735 - Benefits and Other Unrequited Expenses Housing Assistance 1,000-2,921-3,921 - Payments made to Housing Corporation of New Zealand and other providers to cover the difference between the cost of funds borrowed and the rate at which funds are lent. The increase in appropriation reflects Cabinet approval to fund initiatives to improve housing for Maori. B.7 Vol.I 5 Income Related Rental Subsidy 144,586-19, ,564 - Subsidy provided to Housing New Zealand to compensate for the difference between assessed income-related and market rentals.
