The program includes specializations for candidates interested in teaching in bilingual classrooms where the students language of origin is predominately Spanish. An additional specialization in Teaching and Learning in a Global Society is designed to provide non Spanish speaking

Master of Arts in Teaching The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree helps teachers enhance their skills, broaden their intellectual and professional understanding of educational theory and practice, and continue to grow as instructional leaders in K-12 settings. Specializations are offered in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Autism, Best Practices, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Educational Technology, National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) Leadership, Reading, Special Education, Teacher Leadership, and Teaching and Learning in a Global Society. The NBCT specialization is uniquely scheduled to align the NBPTS portfolio submission dates and serves as the thesis project for the MAT degree. Courses for this degree meet the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requirements for a preliminary credential and a master s degree. National University is able to partner with districts to combine a teacher s work in the Induction program with the University s requirements for a master s degree. Currently offered in offsite cohorts only, this program combines the work completed in the preliminary teaching credential, the district induction program, and the Professional Clear SB2042 credential requirements, with a particular focus on preparing teachers for National Board Master of Science in Applied School Leadership (ffered in partnership with Santa Clara County ffice of Education [SCCE]) This program is offered in collaboration with the SCCE Leaders in Educational Administration Program (L.E.A.P), and is comprised of six courses leading to the Preliminary Administrative Services (Tier I) Credential. Students must also take an additional six required National University courses for the completion of this degree. Master of Science in Educational Administration In this program, students will gain expertise in matters related to educational leadership and develop the capabilities and personal characteristics essential for efficient school administration. Master of Science in Educational Counseling The Master of Science in Educational Counseling is aligned with national standards and prepares students for the position of school counselor. Master of Science in Instructional Leadership/NBCT Developing leadership skills for students interested in becoming a school leader or administrator, this degree combines the five National Board Certified Teaching (NBCT) courses with five leadership courses from the Educational Administration program. Development of the NBCT portfolio serves as the thesis project. Adding three more courses within seven years may earn the student a preliminary administrator license. Master of Science in School Psychology This program is aligned with national standards and prepares students for the position of school psychologist. Interns must have an offer of employment from an approved school district or non-public school that either has, or is willing to enter into, a partnership agreement with National University. The University Internship credential students meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Teacher Education Credential Programs In these programs, you can earn the specific credential you need for various teaching environments. Earn a multiple subject credential to teach in a selfcontained classroom, typically in grades K-12. The single subject credential authorized the holder to teach in a departmentalized situation, typically at the junior high or high school level. The SB2042 multiple subjects credential and the single subject credential include an authorization to teach English language learners both in the general education classroom and in designated classes. U N I V w w w. n u. e d u California Reading Certificate The California Reading Certificate Early Childhood Special Education Certificate school and virtual school instruction, and online instruction in higher education. 11 authorizes the holder to assess student reading and provide reading instruction in response to those assessments. Reading Certificate holders are also authorized to develop, implement, and adapt the reading content curriculum and assist classroom teachers in these areas. Early Childhood Education Certificate This four-course program is designed to give students the teaching experience necessary to meet the unique needs of children from birth to age 8. For individuals who have completed Level II coursework in special education and hold a Professional Specialist Credential, Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disabilities, completion of the certificate extends teaching authorization from birth through age 22.
