3 CHRISTIAN BROTHERS UNIVERSITY Prior Learning Credit Prior learning credit may be granted for up to nine credit hours of approved graduate level studies, such as a Certified Financial Planner certificate, military training, studies at the Barret School of Banking, Alliance for Non- Profit Excellence coursework, or other previous businessrelated graduate work. There are no undergraduate-level prerequisites. Free Tutoring To ensure your success, we go well beyond the classroom, offering free weekly tutoring (up to two hours on campus) and refresher courses for economics, accounting, finance, and market research. A Personal Touch Our cohort model means we ll be working together closely to make sure you get the most out of your studies at CBU. Working together starts before you even enroll in the program. 4 COHORT MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Program formula: 7+1+3=MBA Before beginning any classes, an intensive three-day, twocredit Orientation will introduce you to the entire CMBA experience at CBU the distinctive nature of Lasallian education, the faculty and staff who will lead you through this unique course of study, and your fellow cohort members with whom you will work and share and grow throughout the core courses. The 35-hour CMBA curriculum consists of 11 courses taken in sequential order, one course at a time. The curriculum is designed so students focus on one subject area at a time, allowing for more in-depth learning, concentration, and application of each business discipline. Our SEVEN CORE COURSES, which interlock and build upon one other, are offered in the following order: 1. Business Ethics 2. Managerial Economics 3. Financial Statement Analysis 4. Financial Strategies 5. Strategic Management 6. Analytical Business Research 7. Strategic Marketing

5 CHRISTIAN BROTHERS UNIVERSITY ONE CAPSTONE PROJECT is conducted individually or in small groups under the supervision of the Dean and the Graduate Faculty Committee. It provides you with the opportunity to apply the principles and skills you gained in the small-group oriented core curriculum. You can structure your project in one of four ways as a thesis, a marketing plan, a business plan, or as a business simulation. Finally, you take THREE TAILORED CERTIFICATE COURSES as electives, which primarily focus on a particular field wherein you may receive your concentration. 6 COHORT MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How long does it take to complete the program? Courses are taught one night per week in eight-week sessions (on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights) throughout the year. This allows you to graduate in just over two years. Does the schedule of classes change from year to year? No, the schedule and course sequence will remain consistent throughout the core, so you can start and finish with your cohort. New cohorts begin every March and October. Do any courses have prerequisites? There are no undergraduate-level prerequisites. You are required to take a two-credit hour Orientation course which serves as an introduction to common business concepts and computer skills, as well as an introduction to the value of a Lasallian education. If you feel you might benefit from gaining prior knowledge in a particular field before beginning related course work, you can attend special Prep Courses. These courses will be taught by professors during off weeks in the areas of Accounting, Economics, Research, and Finance. Do I need an undergraduate business degree? No, this program was developed for working professionals We seek experienced and successful students who have a desire to develop their business skills in a rigorous and exciting academic environment. Our program is designed for working adults who want to pursue a graduate degree, but do not want to give up other aspects of their lives while going back to school. 7 CHRISTIAN BROTHERS UNIVERSITY who are seeking to excel relationally and analytically in their current and future business endeavors. Can I transfer credits from previous graduate classes? Up to nine hours of business-related graduate credit may be accepted, if approved by the MBA Director. What is the program format? The program follows a true, lock-step format. This means each cohort starts and completes their MBA as a cohesive group, which should resemble the students work environment. Once you complete the two-credit hour Orientation course, you begin classes in the MBA core. These courses provide you with the analytical and relational skills necessary for today s work environment and prepare you for the business analysis course. Upon completion of the MBA core and the business analysis course, you must complete nine credit hours of elective concentration course work, for a total of 35 credit hours. What are possible concentration areas for my MBA? Some of the concentrations currently being offered are in Accounting, General Management, Global Business, Human Resources, Marketing, and Project Management. The list is growing all the time.
