Are you ready totake charge? Today s business environment is changing fast and new competitive challenges and opportunities are continuously emerging. Lloyd s has maintained its position as a world leader for 300 years by constantly evolving. However, to stay ahead of the game the Lloyd s market needs to be agile, responsive, identify and capitalise on opportunities, whilst staying focused on the customer. Lloyd s future success therefore depends on the quality of its leaders. London Business School has designed a leadership programme specifically for Lloyd s, ensuring that the content is contextually aligned to the challenges and issues facing leaders operating in the Lloyd's market, whether within managing agents or in the Corporation. It aims to provide existing and aspiring Lloyd s leaders with the skills to anticipate, lead and respond to the changing nature of the global insurance industry, so they can drive their own businesses forward in positive and creative ways. The intensive three module leadership programme will take participants from the personal dimensions of their own leadership style and capability through to the organisational dimensions of leading change and shaping corporate culture. The programme is designed for: Potential leaders in Lloyd s and in the managing agencies Those who are motivated to develop their ability to deal with increasing levels of complexity and ambiguity and who wish to develop their capacity to contribute at the highest level Those who have the opportunity in their current/next role to implement strategic initiatives Group or project leaders who have responsibility for delivering broad business objectives Those who have just made, or are about to make, the transition from technical specialist to general manager/leader. 2
LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL London Business School, one of the world s top ranked business schools has partnered with Lloyd s to provide the skills, knowledge and networks the global business capabilities required to succeed in an everchanging business world. As a research-led business institution, our ground-breaking studies enable us to design programmes which go beyond established best practice. Instead they combine cutting edge thought leadership with innovative learning methods to address real business challenges. We bring together the best faculty and focus on relevant business issues to create an engaging learning experience that provides participants with a practical toolbox to use in the workplace. Our approach focuses on critical business issues but is founded on the belief that organisations are transformed by individuals who need the right mix of business knowledge and self-awareness to lead and transform their organisations. Leadership is personal, so the programme will enable participants to find their source of inspiration to lead with confidence and skill. London Business School recognise that the most valuable learning often occurs when we share insights with a diverse peer group. We won t tell participants what to think; rather we will inspire participants to think differently. We believe this approach combined with our reputation and access to faculty from more than 24 countries makes us ideal partners for Lloyd s.
LLOYD S Lloyd s is the world s leading specialist insurance and reinsurance market. It is the world's third largest non-life reinsurer, and is the second largest surplus lines insurer in the US. Lloyd s reputation is founded on its 300 year history, its flexibility and the expertise of its underwriters. The market s unique structure means that clients encounter a flexible and responsive approach. Today 75 businesses operate in Lloyd s, each with its own specialisms and areas of expertise. Together they interact with thousands of brokers daily, to create insurance solutions for more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Lloyd s insures 92% of FTSE 100 and 93% of Dow Jones Industrial Average companies. It provides insurance for eight of the world s top pharmaceutical companies and 48 of the world s top banks. The Lloyd s market enjoys strong financial security and is supported by an A rating from A.M. Best and A+ ratings from Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor s. 4

HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES? The Applicant Selection Process There are five stages to the selection process. Step 1 Applicants complete an application/self-assessment form. Applicants obtain sponsorship from a member of the ET or equivalent in market firm. Application form to be sent to Lloyd s HR or the equivalent market firm HR Department for consideration. Step 2 Lloyd s HR or the equivalent market firm HR department have a conversation with the applicant to explain the process and set up an interview if application meets selection criteria. Step 3 Lloyd s HR or the equivalent market firm HR department approach the individuals sponsor to request supporting evidence for application. Step 4 Applicants to attend a selection interview conducted by LBS and a member of Lloyd s HR. Individuals will need to exhibit the required capabilities and behaviours at a level commensurate with the ability to attend, contribute and benefit from the programme. Step 5 Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will receive feedback. You will be requested to attend this developmental feedback session, which will be conducted by a member of Lloyd s or the equivalent market firm HR department. 6
Note for Sponsors As the applicant s sponsor you will be required to complete supporting documentation to highlight areas of strength, development and potential of the applicant. Selection Criteria Role level 1 or 2 (or equivalent in Market firms). At least 1 year s service. 16 DON T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT... at London Business School The following are comments from participant evaluation forms. These have been completed following modules 1 and 2. Amazing amount of detail presented by experts in a varied and encapsulating way. I was hoping to have a thought-provoking and educational week, it exceeded my expectations. Quite simply the best course I have been on. Hugely relevant to my role. Changed my thinking enormously. Also feeling a lot more confident. Extremely professional and thought provoking and very practical! Definitely helped me to identify my goals and development needs. Surprised by my ability to get really involved in the more emotional second module in a committed way. One item my coach highlighted set the lights on and got me thinking. Most illuminating item on the course and probably the last four years. The Discovery Day was outstanding, humbling but inspirational too. I will use this as a leader. The Discovery Day was one of the most insightful days of my career.
