1 PSTN SPEECH DIALLER EN Grade 2 PD6662 Grade 2 Environmental Class 2 CT 1000 TECHNICAL MANUAL ENGLISH DESCRIPTION CT 1000 is a PSTN speech dialler that is able to send SPEECH and CONTACT-ID digital protocol. The device can be completely remote controlled by voice prompt that guides the user step by step throughout all the operation to be done. The system can be programmed through the integrated keypad or by PC software. Further the normal PSTN speech dialler functions, it s possible to use it like vocal memorandum, alarm clock, or like answering service. It s provided by a multiuser menù that allows to arm and disarm the device, visualize all the events, reset the call cycle, change all the telephone numbers, listen and record local or remote messages, activate and deactivate controls through some codes., besides being a dialler, can be used like a small alarm control unit. It can manage: - 8 user codes, - snapshot and delayed inputs, - 24 hours inputs, - programmable as sirens outputs, - complete events menu, - speech and CONTACT ID digital protocol. The main features are: 4 lines programmable as inputs or outputs, 8 programmable telephone numbers for vocal notification, 8 programmable telephone numbers for Contact ID notification, 1 status input used to check a remote device s state, 1 input programmable as call local reset.

8 COVER OPENING AND FIXING Open the keypad housing pushing the flap in the lower part with a screwdriver by keeping the keypad door open (fig.1 point1). Take the posterior part of the keypad and fix it to the wall (the electronic board remains fixed to the anterior part). During the fixation pay attention to the tearing element; if you want to have an anti-tearing protection it is necessary to fix it to the wall with a screw, so as to keep the keypad tamper switch closed. If you don t want to use the anti-tearing protection you have to bend the switch flap, so as to keep it pressed when the housing is closed. Close the case by leaning the anterior part onto the clips of the posterior part. Then push the anterior part of the housing until it clicks and fits together with the posterior part

Press CANC key and keep it pressed when giving the power to the system (from 12Vdc to MAX 14Vdc). Wait until the three leds (red - yellow - green) stop blinking at the same time. The dialler is resetted and ready to use. Otherwise it s possible to reset the dialler in the following way: once the dialler is switched on, enter the DEFAULT TECHNICAL CODE (000000) and, whit the vertical arrows, select the Parameters reset menu. Confirm with the return key and repeat the confirmation. After the initialization process the device is ready to be programmed. LED FUNCTIONS The system features 3 LEDs beacons: RED LED = if it s turn on steady it indicates a persistent anomaly, if it blinks it indicates that there is a new event in the menu events, if it s turn off there aren t any problems. YELLOW LED = if it s turn on steady it indicates that there is a new local message, if it blinks slow it indicates that there is a new remote message, if it blinks fast it indicates that there are both local and remote messages. GREEN LED = it indicates the PSTN line status. Led turn on steady = the dialler is keeping busy the telephone line, led turn off = the dialler isn t keeping busy the telephone line, led blinked = it indicates that the dialler is armed. 6

10 DIALLER DESCRIPTION ENTER PROGRAMMING AND FUNCTIONS KEYS Besides the normal PSTN dialler function, the can be used like an answering service, like a vocal memorandum or like an alarm clock. Moreover, with the 8 user codes, it can be used to activate any electric or electronic device connected to it. Actually, for each code, it s possible to link an OC output; this output can be activated and deactivated, both in local and in remote, knowing the device status by audio support. can send Ademco CONTACT ID digital protocols, that can be setted up for any input and for any event; can be used like a small control unit. In fact, every input can be snapshot, delayed or 24 hours. It s possible to link an output to the inputs for use it for a siren. The dialler has 2 menu: the first, for the user, is accessible with the user code (default ); the second is the technical menu (default ). The user menu allows: - Arm and disarm the dialler, - read the event menu, - listen, record or erase a vocal memorandum, - listen, record or erase a message in the answering service, - enable and disable the answering service, - modify the telephone-book, - set the alarm clock, - set the clock, - adjust the intensity and the contrast of the display. With the technical menu it s possible to carry out quit the device programmation. ENTER PROGRAMMING AND LOGIN IN THE MENU Key in the technical code ( default); system is in the technical menu. Use up and down arrows keys to move to the programming steps and modify the parameters values. Press RETURN to modify the menu. Use the alphanumeric keypad to key in alphanumeric strings. Use the CANCEL key to exit the menu or to move to the upper level. Use the # or right arrow to move right in a parameter. Use the or left arrow to erase a value in a menu. Use the vertical arrow keys to increase or decrease a value in a menu. To set the menu default value it s possible to use the following keys: 1 = Minimum value 2 = Default value 3 = Maximum value 7

11 MENU TELEPHONE NUMBERS SET UP THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS This section explains how to define the 8 telephone numbers available for the vocal calls. It s possible to define the telephone number, the name, and the options for each number. - Telephone number: it s the number that will be called for a specific event. - Name: it s the name of the person that will be called. - Options: they are relating only to the selected telephone number. A B C answer confirmation direct access to user menu automatic call cycle reset the system shall receive a DTMF tone # to define a call as successful; if this does not happen the system will call again the same telephone number for a maximum of times equal to the set number of call attempts. the user with this option doesn t dial own user code to enter the user menu. if the call to the telephone number with this option is successful, the entire call cycle will be cancelled. 12 MENU VOCAL CALLS In this menu there are all the vocal calls setup parameters; messages recordings, telephone numbers linking, number of call attempts, etc. MENU PLAY/RECORD M01:Header 0:Play 1:Rec 2:Erase M12:input 4 0:Play 1:Rec 2:Erase - To select the event use the vertical arrows. - To work to the selected event use the return key. - Press 0 to listen, 1 to record, 2 to erase. LINK PHONE NRS. In this menu it s possible to link the telephone numbers to the events. M02:Tamper 0:PLAY M12:input 4 0:PLAY - Use the vertical arrows to select the event. - To link the telephone numbers press return and check the blinked cursor position; then, with the # key, move to the desired number and, with the vertical arrow keys, link the number. - Press 0 to listen the selected event message. = disable telephone number = able telephone number CALL MEANTIME This parameter is the time (in seconds) that elapses between consecutive calls of the same call cycle (minimum value 005 sec., maximum value 600sec.). To modify the values press return and check that the cursor blinks. Use the vertical arrows to modify. SECONDS BEFORE ANSWER This parameter is the time (in seconds) that the system wait until the call is answered. EX: 30 means that, the telephone called by the dialler, will ring only for 30 seconds. After which the dialler will close the call and it will call the followed number (minimum value 005 sec., maximum value 120 sec.). To modify the values press return and check that the cursor blinks. Use the vertical arrows to modify. ATTEMPTS NUMBER This parameter indicates the number of call attempts to a telephone number when it cannot be reached (minimum value 001, maximum value 008). To modify the values press return and check that the cursor blinks. Use the vertical arrows to modify. 9

13 MESSAGE REPETITION NUMBER This parameter indicates the number of times the message is repeated when a telephone number has been reached (minimum value 001, maximum value 010). To modify the values press return and check that the cursor blinks. Use the vertical arrows to modify. MESSAGE CONFIRM TIME This parameter indicates the time (in seconds) to confirm the reception of a vocal message, when the confirm parameter is enabled. The calculation starts at the same time of the message repetition. (minimum value 015, maximum value 120). To modify the values press return and check that the cursor blinks. 14 MENU ZONES/OUTPUTS In this menu there are all the paremeters concerning the dialler s lines. The lines are the INPUTS - OUTPU- TS terminals. Each line can be setted like an input or like an OC output. On end there is the parameters complete list. LINE TYPE It s possible to program 3 different types of inputs or set OC output: C = normally closed O = normally open B = single EOL resistor U = open collector output To set the parameter press return till the wanted line will blink, and, with the vertical arrow, select the type. Use and # or the horizontal arrows to move from a line to another. INPUT TYPE It s possible to programme an input with several possible functions: A = instantaneous alarm (it works only when the system is armed). D = delayed alarm (it works only when the system is armed). S = 24 hours input, unregarding the status (armed/disarmed) of the system. R = reset of alarm call cycle function. I = system ON / OFF function. To set the parameter press return till the wanted line will blink, and, with the vertical arrow, select the type. 15 STATUS INPUT The status input is used to check the state of a remote device connected to the dialler (ex. control units, airconditioning, etc.). This input is able to do a vocal or digital call quite personalized, according to its state (open or closed). Moreover, in case of remote connection, it s possible to question the dialler, and get a personalized message about the state of the status input and, consequently, the state of the device connected to the dialler. INPUT TEST With this parameter it s possible to check the state (open/close) of the all dialler inputs. Input Test - OUTPUT TYPE = input open = input close - = input not programmed It s possible to programme several output functions: - = output that can be linked to user codes. A = alarm (siren). M = memory (red LED keypad). V = no power supply (it refer to the SUPPLY terminal). S = system status. T = tamper. P = PSTN line absence To set the parameter press return till the wanted line will blink, and, with the vertical arrow, select the type. Use and # or the horizontal arrows to move from a line to another. OUTPUT TEST With this parameter it s possible to check the state (activated/deactivated) of the dialler outputs. Output Test - PULS TIME OUTPUTS = activated output = deactivated output - = output not programmed This parameter sets the duration in seconds of the activation of a pulsed output. The setting can vary from 1 sec. to 255 sec. To modify the parameter press return. The value that you have to modify blinks; use the vertical arrows to set the new OUTPUT PULSE This parameter sets how many times a pulsed output has to activate in case of activation (EX. in case of output programed as siren there are the siren cycle numbers). To modify the parameter press return. The value that you have to modify blinks; use the vertical arrows to set the new PULSE REPETITION This parameter sets the time between two activation cycles of a pulsed output. This time is in seconds and the maximum time is 24h. To modify the parameter press return. The value that you have to modify blinks; use the vertical arrows to set the new Using the 4 key the value is increased with 60, using the 5 key the value is increased with 3600 (1 hour). 12

16 MENU CODES HANDLING In this menu there are all the parameters relative to the use of the all codes available to the dialler (technician code, users codes, reset codes, users settings up). TECHNICIAN CODE The technician code allows to modify all the dialler parameters, so it s advisable the use by qualified people. The default is , and, contrary to the users codes, it isn t possible to reduce the digits number. To modify the parameter press return; when the cursor blinks use the numeric keypad to set up the code. Press CANC to erase. CALL RESET The call reset code is used to stop the call cycle of an alarm. After receiving a call, the user has to press the # key, digit the call reset code, and press again the # key; the call cycle will be resetted. To modify the parameter press return; when the cursor blinks use the numeric keypad to set up the code. Press CANC to erase. USER CODE The dialler can manages at most 8 different codes. The code length can vary from 1 to 6 digits. NOTE: if the code is compound by 6 digits, when the code has been digited the system automatically entry the user menu. If the code is less than 6 digits, after the user digits it, he has to confirm with the return key on the keypad, or with the # key in remote. To modify the parameter press return; when the cursor blinks use the numeric keypad to set up the code. Press CANC to erase. USER MODE This parameter define the code function: M = master. It allows to entry the complete user code (see USER MENU) = input-output linking function. If the output has a time, it will be activated for this time in pulsed mode. If the time is 0, the output is stable (code = activation --> code = deactivation). Note: when an output is activated with a code, the activation is reported on the display. 13

17 MENU PARAMETERS INPUT TIME With this parameter is possible to modify the reaction time of the all inputs programmed with the delayed alarm function (see INPUT TYPE). value (minimum time 000sec., maximum time 255sec.). OUTPUT TIME This delay sets the time between code entering and system arming. If the is used without any control unit, this parameter is used to allow to leave the protected place after the dialler activation (minimum time 000sec., maximum time 255sec.). ACTIVATE TAMPER This parameter enables the anti-opening tamper switch. LIFE TEST DELAY This parameter sets how often the system has to notify a life test signal. The value can vary from 000 hours to 240 hours. ANSWER RINGS NUMBER This parameter sets the number of rings that the system waits before answer. REMOTE MESSAGE ENABLED With this parameter it s possible to enable the answering service (see USER MENU). ENABLE RING SKIP The ring skip is used when the dialler is installed on a telephone line shared with answering services, FAX devices, etc.. Example: the connected fax device answers after 4 rings, the dialler is setted with 8 answer rings. To communicate with the dialler you have to do 2 rings, close the call, wait for 5-10 sec. and recall. This time the dialler precede the fax answer. The ENABLE RING SKIP define how many rings you have to do to activate this function. 14

18 DTMF DURATION With this parameter it s possible to modify the length of the telephone number composition tone (DTMF). The default value is that used for normal installation. If the dialler has to be installed on telephone lines that can have problems on the DTMF reception, it s possible to extend the length of each number during the composition. (default value = 80msec., maximum value 120msec.). DTMF INTERVAL This parameter fix the pause between a DTMF tone and the following. In case of problems it s possible to slow down or increase the composition speed. (default value = 80ms, maximum value 120ms). LINE TONE TEST It s possible to enable or disable the line tone control (440Hz). In case of problems it s possible to disable the tone control and leave active the line presence control (see the following parameter). LINE PRESENCE TEST The line presence test carry out only the line voltage control on the dialler terminals. In case of problems it s possible to disable it. Note: if you disable the line presence test the dialler doesn t notify the telephone line failure DISPLAY INTENSITY AND CONTRAST It s possible to set up the display intensity and contrast relatively to the installation site. TIMER CORRECTION If the clock isn t precise, it s possible to correct it with this parameter. The correction has to be done taking into consideration the error that the clock has in a month. For example, if the clock is 25 fast in a month, it s possible to deduct them setting up in this parameter the value -25. MONITOR ENABLED It s possible to enable the internal dialler loudspeaker so as to have the vocal support of the user operations (system activation and deactivation, outputs activation and deactivation, etc.). The possible values are 3: 0 = monitor disabled, 1 = system and outputs activation and deactivation messages, 2 = complete monitor activation. (It s possible to hear the telephone numbers composition and the messages reproduction). Note: the value 2 is useful to diagnose telephone lines problems. 15

19 SUMMER TIME ENABLED It s possible to enable the automatic change to the summer time (last March sunday and last October sunday). BEEP ENABLED It s possible to enable or disable the keys sound. ACTIVATION BUZZER TIME When this parameter is enabled, if the system is armed, it emits a cadenced bip. The time, in this parameter, is the interval between a bip and another. The value can vary from 0 (disabled) and 300 (maximum). 16

20 MENU CONTACT ID The dialler is able to send CONTACT ID digital protocols. This protocols are completely changeable and programmable, both the events and all the inputs. MENU IDC EVENTS The IDC events are the codes that the system sends; those already definite are default. It s possible to freely modify any codes. Default codes list: Tamper = 133 Main power ON / OFF = 301 PSTN error = 351 Life test = 602 Status ON / OFF = 401 Inputs = 000 Contact ID partition = 00 MENU IDC NUMBERS In this menu it s possible to set up the 8 available numbers, the system identification code and assign the numbers to the events, with other characteristics. IDC TEL NUMBERS It s possible to set up 8 telephone numbers with 8 different ID. Idc Numbers Idc Tel Number 1 Idc Tel Number 8 Use the keypad to insert the number and the ID. Use the horizontal arrow keys or the and # keys to move left and right. Use the CANC key to erase a parameter. MAX TRIALS NUMBER ADEMCO ID: Tel. number: This parameter indicates the call attempts number in case of receiver unreachable (minimum value 001, maximum value 008). 17

21 INPUT RESTORE NOTIFICATION It s possible to send the inputs restore notification. LINK TELEPHONE NUMBERS With the following menu it s possible to link the telephone numbers with the events. M02:Tamper 0: PLAY M12:input 4 0: PLAY - Use the vertical arrows keys to select the event. - To link the number press return; when the cursor blinks, use the # and keys to move to the wanted number, and, with the vertical arrows keys, link the number. - Press 0 to listen the recording of the select event. 18

22 DATE & TIME To set date and time: - press return and, when the cursor blinks, use the vertical arrows keys to modify the parameter. - use and # keys or the horizontal arrows keys to move horizontally. MENU EVENTS The dialler is supply with about 250 events memory. To visualize it select menu events and press return. With the vertical arrows keys you can choose one of them and, pressing return, visualize its details. PARAMETERS RESET See FIRST ACTIVATION AND DEFAULT RESET paragraph. CALLS AND MANAGEMENT WITH THE VOCAL MENU RECEPTION OF A VOCAL CALL While receiving a vocal call from the dialler it s possible to perform several operations, depending on the programming (options) linked to the call number: NUMBER WITHOUT ANY OPTIONS: once the call has been answered, the dispatch is considered successful, therefore the dialler will call the following number. In case the user wants to enter the user menu, enter #, dial the personal call, and then press # again. STOP A CALL WITH THE RESET CODE: once a call has been answered, PRESS # TO STOP THE MESSAGE AND DIAL THE RESET CODE (example #123#); the system will respond with the message call cycle stopped. NUMBER WITH OPTION A (ANSWER CONFIRMATION): in order to make the call to the number successful it s necessary to press #; if this is not done the system will call immediately the same number. In case the user wants to enter user menu, he/she has to enter # and then dial the personal code. NUMBER WITH OPTION B (DIRECT ACCESS TO USER MENU): when the call is answered, after the message repetition, the system switches immediately to the user menu without asking the personal code. By pressing # the access will be anticipated. NUMBER WITH OPTION C (RESET OF THE CALL CYCLE): when the call is considered successful, the system will reset automatically the remaining calls. Important: when this option is activated, it s useful to activate option A as well, to be sure that the entire call cycle can be reset only by pressing #. NOTE: the above mentioned options can be entered for each telephone number; at each telephone number several options can be assigned. 19

23 USER MENU SYSTEM ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION In the inputs programming it s possible to select the instantaneous alarm function (type A), or 24 hours input function (type S) for each input. Using this type of inputs, it s possible to arm or disarm the dialler like an alarm control unit. When the dialler is disarm, only the calls relative to the inputs programmed with the S function will be done. In this case will not be done the calls relative to the input programmed with the A function. This kind of calls will be done only when the dialler is armed. To arm the dialler is necessary to dial a code of a user with M function (master); on the keypad display will immedialtely appear the written System activation. Press return to confirm the activation. If there are opened inputs, the system notifies them. In this case it s possible to exclude them or enable the system and close this inputs during the output time. To disarm, dial the user code. NOTE: if the monitor is enabled, the dialler provides the system status with the vocal support. OUTPUT STOP This parameter is used to stop all the outputs that are steady and permanent activated and that haven t a deactivated event (ex. output programed with infinite cycles activation). ANSWERING SERVICE The dialler is supplied with a local and a remote answering service. The local answering service is an audio memorandum that can be recorded in the dialler with a master code. The dialler will indicate the presence of a message with the yellow led lighting. To listen the message dial the user code and, with the vertical arrows keys, select Local message ( 0 = listening, 1 = recording, 2 = message erasing). The remote message is a traditional answering service. To record a message with a remote telephone it s necessary to listen the vocal guide that will invite to press key to record the message. The user can listen the message in remote or in local. To listen the message in remote the user has to refer to the dialler vocal guide. In local, instead, when there is a message in the answering service, the yellow led of the keypad blinks. The user can listen the message dialling the user code and selecting, with the vertical arrows keys, REMOTE MESSAGE ( 0 = listening, 1 = recording, 2 = message erasing). ALARM CLOCK The dialler is also supplied with an alarm clock. In the user menu select the alarm clock menu, press return and, with the vertical and horizontal arrows keys, set all the parameters for the activation of the alarm clock (see the following figure). Note: if there is no message recorded, the system will use a BIP to signal the alarm clock. alarm clock activation alarm clock setting up repetition of the alarm clock signalling (in minutes) AUTOMATIC INPUT EXCLUSION With this parameter it s possible to exclude all the opened inputs in case of remote armed (by telephone or by ON - OFF input). CALL TO THE DIALLER If the answer is enabled, after the set number of rings, the system will accept the incoming call asking the user code. After this code introduction, if the code is correct, the user will be introduced to the user vocal menu.
