1 Thank you for your interest in the Distracted Driving Program! The Distracted Driving Program is a subsidiary of the National Save A Life Tour. The Save A Life Tour has presented the dangers of drinking and driving to students and military personnel across the country as well as overseas since However, over the years, nationally and internationally, there has been a growing trend of new driving dangers. Distracted driving, including texting and driving has become a serious problem on our roadways. In 2011, the Distracted Driving Program began spreading awareness of these dangers to students at hundreds of high schools, colleges and universities and corporate events across the country. Unfortunately unsafe driving practices and choices are an ongoing concern for all individuals that operate a motor vehicle including all individuals that work to protect our country by serving in the military. In a combined effort, the Save a Life Tour along with the United States Armed Forces has worked towards reducing the number of unsafe driving incidents involving military personnel. The Save A Life Tour has visited the Pentagon and has traveled to over 150 different Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force throughout the world. Some notable military installations we have presented our program at include: The United States Pentagon Marine Corps Headquarters in Quantico, VA Navy Headquarters in Norfolk, VA US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD Installations all over the United States including Alaska and Hawaii Navy ships including the USS Stennis, the USS Truman and the USS Lincoln We have adapted the Distracted Driving Program to fit the needs of colleges and universities nationwide. 2 Prior to program A. 48 hours prior to the scheduled play date, the tour manager that will be on site at your location will contact you via phone. They will introduce themselves, let you know what to expect and confirm their time of arrival. SAMPLE PROGRAM OUTLINE- College B. 2 hours prior to the time you want us to be up and running, our crew will arrive at your school. Please be sure someone is on hand to let them into the building and direct them where to set up. (Most often colleges have us arrive at 8 am and the program is available 10 am- 4 pm) Program Begins- Participant Interaction with Simulators A. At colleges the Distracted Driving Program is generally set up as a pass-through program. a. We will set up in a high traffic area of your choosing. b. The program is most effective set up in a student center, cafeteria or lounge. B. As the students walk up they will be greeted by our presenters who will explain a little about our program and the simulators. C. Participants will be cycled through the simulators. The presenters will point out different effects to the participants as they occur. (Ex. Swerving, tunnel vision, speeding) D. The presenters will quote national and state statistics from recognized sources to illustrate how serious the problem of distracted driving is. E. The presenters will not only talk about the perils of unsafe driving and quote statistics; they will also act as a passenger in the car as the student is testing the simulator. F. The tour facilitators will engage the students by discussing with each participant that tests the simulators what happened and reinforce their experience until he or she thoroughly understands how they were affected and why. G. These simulators address the very real and often fatal consequences of poor choices, and should not be confused with a video game in any way A 50 Minute sit down lecture and video presentation is available upon request 2

3 Program Features Two (2) immersive single screen, state of the art TEXTING AND DRIVING SIMULATORS with IPHONE. A 8 X 10 projection screen that shows the audience what the drivers of each simulator are experiencing. Also two (2) 50 inch monitors will be running different INFORMATIONAL VIDEO PRESENTATIONS including an ongoing PRESENTATION OF MEMORIALS TO VICTIMS who have lost their lives in a driving related incident. Several 3 X 8 thought provoking BANNER DISPLAYS Pick-up truck and 20 trailer with full-color graphics serving as a MOBILE BILLBOARD parked at the event location We contact local newspaper, radio and television for MEDIA COVERAGE OF YOUR EVENT. Program facilitators will wear attire that is neat, but current fashion styles. This establishes a peer relationship with the audience, as opposed to an authority figure. 3

4 Additional Features and Benefits Full color posters sent to your location in advance to help promote the Distracted Driving Program. Take-a-ways: Wristbands will be given to students who attend. We adapt our presentation to suit your needs! This program is fully insured with a $1,000,000 insurance policy for your event. 4

5 Technical Requirements A) Three (3) 110 volt, 20 amp circuit available within 200 of performance area. (Circuits are not outlets). Separate circuits are defined as each outlet being on a dedicated breaker. B) A 25 by 45 performance area with 12 6 ceiling height is optimal for preferred set-up. While we can frequently accommodate less favorable locations, we need to know in advance. Also please note- any deviation from the preferred dimensions, could result in a reduction of equipment that is set up. If you believe you will fall short of the preferred dimensions, please contact me to discuss. C) One (1) person to act as a host and assist the Distracted Driving Program crew at your location. Note regarding equipment we will be bringing. -All equipment is professionally handled. -All equipment is designed to fit through a standard doorway. -All equipment is portable and designed to roll to a designated location in a way that will protect your facility. -Once equipment is in place and set up- it is stationary and will not move from that place on the floor. -When equipment is set up cords are secured and covered for safety purposes.
