3 Setting Prices Using an average of 30% capacity houses over your season is a good guide when working out what box office you need to recoup in order to break even with your projected income. The average ticket prices at the 2014 Sydney Fringe Festival were around $22 Full and $16 Concession. Usually Group and Preview ticket prices are similar to Concession tickets. **Please ensure that your ticket prices take into account the inside charge on each ticket sold collected by the Sydney Fringe (discussed below in Charges and who pays them Section) Estimating Ticket Revenue For many independent arts events, ticket revenue is the largest source of income. Accurately estimating ticketing revenue is important in order to see if expenses will be covered or to see how much funding you will need to raise from other sources. As a general guide, ticketing revenue before ticketing charges are deducted is estimated as: Number of x Venue x Expected x Average = Estimated Performances Capacity Attendance Ticket Revenue (%) Price 6 (e.g.) x 90 x 30% x $19 (e.g.) = $3078 * As a general rule in the Independent Arts, Expected Audience is budgeted at 30% per session time ** Average Ticket price can be calculated as the adult and concession prices (in the example above: $22 and $16) being added together and divided by two. Please note: If you or your presenting company are NOT registered for GST, you will need to deduct GST in your take-home revenue calculation as your venue will need to keep it and pay it to the government.

4 Charges and who pays them The information you enter into the registration system will be converted into your event page on sydneyfringe.com. When tickets go on sale, customers can view the program and purchase tickets. Sydney Fringe has exclusive ticketing rights to all Fringe events and this is a condition of your registration and participation. What do you (the artist) pay? 1. Artist Inside Charge Sydney Fringe charges a fee per ticket to the artist (you) for any tickets sold online and at the door. This fee is known as the artist inside charge. In 2015, the Sydney Fringe will charge $1.98 (incl. GST) on every ticket sold. 2. Complimentary Tickets charge All comp tickets incur a $0.50c fee payable by you the artist (Complimentary tickets are detailed further later in this guide) What do customers pay? 1. Customer Booking Fee All tickets Sydney Fringe sells through sydneyfringe.com are subject to a $2.20 customer booking fee (incl. GST) per ticket sold. This fee ispayable by the customer at the point of sale. Please note that the Customer Booking Fee and any relevant credit card charges for bookings are passed on to the customer and not incurred by the artist. 2

5 Ticket on sale Dates 15 July 2015 For gift voucher sales online and selected sponsors 1 August 2015 For general public ticket sales Ticket Categories The Sydney Fringe has set 5 ticket categories that you will be able to select when inputting ticket prices in the registration system. Please note that your event does not need to include all price categories. Preview Discounted tickets for any sessions prior to the official opening of your season. Ticket price should be set lower than the normal adult ticket and be the only price available for the performance. Please note: media complimentary tickets will not be issued by Fringe to any preview sessions. Concession Priced lower than a standard adult ticket, and applicable for holders of concession cards (Pensioner, Senior, Student, Unemployed). Adult A standard ticket price category that should be applied to all sessions except previews. Child For children 12 years and under who will occupy a seat. Children 2 years and under are free on lap. Groups 6+ A discount for groups booking more than 6 tickets, set lower than an Adult ticket price. Tickets must be purchased in one transaction for discount to apply. 3

6 Rushtix For last minute bums on seats consider offering a limited number of seats on sale at half price. Rushtix will be available for purchase from 11am on the day of the performance only. For Rushtix to be entered in our system, you will need to our Box Office Coordinator by Close of Business, 5pm, the day before the performance for which you would like Rushtix activated. You are able to activate Rushtix in advance, for example for all of your performances, but they will only appear from 11am on the day of each session. To activate Rushtix, our Box Office Coordinator at boxoffice@sydneyfringe.com from 15 th August 2015 Complimentary tickets All complimentary tickets incur a $0.50c fee per ticket payable by you the artist. The Sydney Fringe will allow each presenter to allocate up to 8% of their venue capacity, per performance, free of charge. After 8% has been reached, the presenter will incur the $0.50c fee per ticket for any additional complimentary tickets For Complimentary tickets to be entered in our system, you will need to our Box Office Coordinator by Close of Business, 5pm, the day before the performance for which you would like complimentary tickets. Please note that all complimentary tickets, under or over the 8% allocation, need to be entered into the ticketing system. To allocate complimentary tickets, our Box Office Coordinator at boxoffice@sydneyfringe.com from 15 th August

7 How do I find out how many tickets have been sold? Once tickets go on sale (1 August), you are able to login and view sales reports from the Fringe website sydneyfringe.com using your username and password log in. You can view details of tickets sold, as well as a range of other reports. You will also be able to view your door lists. How do I make changes to my event after tickets go on sale? You will need to contact the Box Office who will update the change as soon as practicable. Settlement Settlement of your sales will be paid within four (4) weeks after your last session/ performance, provided all required paperwork has been returned quickly following the production. In many cases, settlement may occur earlier. You will receive via a summary of your total ticket sales, minus applicable charges, and the money will be deposited straight into the bank account you entered into the registration system. Please note that the Sydney Fringe can only settle box office once the artist has provided all relevant information and forms required from them in correspondence during the settlement process. Failure to produce any outstanding documentation by 30 th November 2015 will result in the artist forfeiting their ticket revenue. 5
