3 Why Set? Harvard MBA program, 1979 A study was conducted on students in the 1979 Harvard MBA program. The students were asked, "Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?" Only three percent of the graduates had written goals and plans. 13 percent had goals, but they were not in writing. 84 percent had no specific goals at all.

4 Why Set? Ten years later, the members of the class were interviewed again, and these were the findings: The 13 percent of the class who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals at all. And the three percent who had clear, written goals They were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97 percent put together.

5 What Mean for a Salesman In the United States only 10% of Sales People properly set goals. Those 10% account for 73% of the Sales Volume and 78% of the Commissions Paid. 97% report that they are highly satisfied with their life. The 90% that don t set goals properly account for only 27% of the Sales and 22% of the Commissions.

9 Who Doesn t Set? 97% of the world, thats who! And 99% of the world don t write them down and review them regularly Setting goals motivates, clarifies, and ensures success No Set a goal to become a millionaire, not for the money, but for the type of person you would have to become to get there Unwritten Written -Jim Rohn

10 Why Should You Set? Because you want more out of life than you have now. Because setting goals is your single biggest advantage in success and excellence. Because you are joining the most highly successful people in the world in doing what got them there. Because if you don t plan your life, someone else will.

11 How to Set a Goal It must be reasonable but what isn t? It must be measurable. It must be written down, in the present tense It must be reviewed often. You must know the reasons for wanting to achieve it. You must celebrate when you reach it.

12 How Much Time Does it Take? One day a year 4 hours a month 1 hour a week 10 minutes a day -If it sounds like too much effort, you can always be average. That s what most people do, so you ll have plenty of company. If it doesn t, then you can have the extraordinary.

13 Where Did you Last Vacation? How much time did you spend planning for it? How long did it last? How much time do you spend planning your life? How long does it last?
