2 In order to implement addiction prevention successfully, it is necessary to sensitize the public to this topic and to reach as many people as possible through multipliers. This is the reason we work in a network-based manner and collaborate with specialists from child daycare facilities, schools, youth welfare services, training institutions, and vocational schools. Addiction prevention is primarily geared toward children, adolescents, and parents. Our area of responsibility also includes addiction prevention at the job and addiction prevention in seniors. The central areas of our work are: To offer continuing education and consulting services for professionals and teams (multipliers) To organize symposiums and informational events To plan, assist with, and support projects for different target groups To foster public relations and to coordinate addiction-preventive initiatives To provide specialized work materials (fliers, literature, specific methodology toolboxes ) The Center for Addiction Prevention is part of the Addiction Prevention for North Rhine-Westphalia and is based on the overall framework concept. 3 The Center for Youth Addiction Counseling serves adolescents and young Adults up to the age of 21 who would like to take a look at their substance abuse, their use of media, and their personal circumstances. We will consider your needs and expectations and together we will determine how to proceed. Of course, we also offer support to family members and other persons who are important in our clients lives. Our services include: Information and one-on-one counseling Groups such as an early intervention group for first-time drug users or the risk check HaLT (Hart am Limit) [Close to the Limit] for adolescents who have drawn attention to themselves by abusing alcohol or illegal drugs Counseling services for parents, friends, partners, and other persons that are important in our clients lives Support during crisis situations Referral to other institutions for detox, therapy, youth support measures, and others Feel free to just walk in or call us. We have one Counseling Center in the city center of Duisburg and one in Marxloh.
