2 Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) 12 Month The Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) is a 12 month program designed for professionals who are seeking to advance their careers in a shorter period of study. The program will prepare students to become technology managers, chief information or technology officers and to lead enterprises in innovative ways through a world-class, practical, IT and management curriculum which includes 78 units of electives that can be tailored to meet education and career goals. MSIT 12 month students can enrol in an optional 24 unit Information Systems Project designed to take students beyond theory and into the practical application of skills through the opportunity to work with public and private companies and government agencies on real-world projects. Independent Study Independent study allows students to undertake an elective course through one-on-one interaction with a professor rather than in a class format and counts for up to 12 units towards the degree. Independent study gives students the flexibility to direct their own coursework and align this coursework with their interests, career and research goals. Career Outcomes MSIT graduates work for some of the top employers and organisations in the information technology industry. While some graduates go on to lead projects in software engineering or security consulting, others build upon their business and policy acumen to take executive, leadership and entrepreneurial roles in the IT and complimentary industries. Roles include: Chief Information Office, Chief Technology Officer, Solutions Analyst, Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, IT Manager, Software/ Application Developer, Workforce Development Manager and IT Consultant. As analytical problem solvers, intelligent in their application of technology, students can provide value for organisations by understanding how technology interacts with business processes, strategy, and policy.
