The SARC contains information about the condition and performance of each California public school. Under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) all local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to prepare a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which describes how they intend to meet annual school-specific goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities. Additionally, data reported in an LCAP is to be consistent with data reported in the SARC. 2 School Description and Mission Statement (Most Recent Year) Bassett High School is located in the San Gabriel Valley, fifteen miles east of Los Angeles, in the northeast corner of Los Angeles County. Bassett Unified School District attendance areas include unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County (Valinda and Bassett) and portions of the cities of La Puente, Baldwin Park, and City of Industry. Bassett Unified School District has one comprehensive high school and in addition provides the following: one continuation high school Nueva Vista, one adult school Bassett Adult School, one Independent Study program, a Regional Services Orthopedically Impaired program, a Special Education program, and an English Learners program. These services address the diverse needs of the secondary school student in the district. There is one middle school, one K 8 Academy and three elementary schools. Bassett High School s feeder schools are Torch Middle School and Edgewood Academy. Bassett High School opened its doors in September 1965, serving the surrounding community for 48 years. Enrollment has continually declined since 2007 when enrollment was Enrollment has dropped 19.4% in the past six years and is currently The school population has two significant subgroups: Hispanic/Latino and socio-economically disadvantaged. The school s ethnic diversity has remained stable. 5 School Facility Conditions and Planned Improvements (Most Recent Year) All buildings and facilities have been found to be in good condition by the William's case facility inspection. We received an overall rating of "Good." Solar Panels have been installed to one of our parking lots and part of a filed area to support the conservation of energy and to save on electricity cost. Our library is currently being remodeled and we will be putting in four computer labs throughout the campus within the next year to support the technology need for the common core state standards. Career Technical Education Programs (School Year ) We currently have a Health Academy that is funded by the Local Education Agency (LEA) through the California Partnership Academy Grant and the La Puente Valley Regional Occupational Program (ROP) to support Career Technical Education (CTE). Because of this Health Academy we have a partnership with Kaiser Permanente so our seniors in the program do interns at the Baldwin Park Hospital. Engagement State Priority: Parental Involvement The SARC provides the following information relevant to the Parental Involvement State Priority (Priority 3): Efforts the school district makes to seek parent input in making decisions for the school district and each schoolsite. Opportunities for Parental Involvement (Most Recent Year) Advanced Most of the parents in this community are working-class. They are very supportive of the educational programs at Bassett High School. Parents continue to participate in an advisory capacity to facilitate school decision-making and advocacy, primarily through the following organizations and programs: Bassett Boosters is a group of parents, current and retired teachers, district representatives, and alumni that support many programs at Bassett High School. They o Supports the football program by planning and working with the staff to acquire the necessary support and resources to enhance the program. The Band Club raises funds and physically assists in the logistics and preparation necessary for the functions that the band participates in each year SARC - Bassett Senior High Parent-Teacher-Student Association, with approximately 35 members, is active in providing a Reflections Arts Display program in addition to granting student scholarships School Accountability Report Card for Bassett Senior High School Page 9 of 13

10 School Site Council (SSC) is a valuable school resource, addressing compliance issues, school functions, and activities. It is also an important source for parent participation in designating revenue to a variety of school groups for educational enhancements. English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) works with the English Language Development (ELD) Coordinator on issues regarding English Learners (EL). Meetings are held on a regular monthly basis with agenda items addressing parental rights and compliance issues. Gifted and talented (GATE) program has a small parent group. School Safety Plan (Most Recent Year) Bassett High School creates a safe and secure environment for students and staff in a variety of ways. We have 12 full-day campus monitors who are supervised by an administrator. We have a progressive discipline program. In addition, we have a school safety plan that is updated annually and lays out the roles and procedures in case of major disasters. Lastly, we have frequent drills to prepare us for fires, armed intruders, earthquakes and other disasters. D. Types of Services Funded (Fiscal Year ) The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), and tutoring are funded by categorical monies. Mental health services are provided by private funded agencies such as CLARO and Pacific Clinics for our medical students as well as the general population students. These programs are very successful for our at risk students. We also have in our master schedule intervention classes for the California High School Exit Exam as w ell as targeted tutoring sessions for 10th grade students who are close to being proficient in math and English. Professional Development There are 30 scheduled after school meetings and 10 minimum days dedicated to professional development (PD). At these PD sessions, academic departments meet twice a month to collaborate on lessons and assessment development based on local and state data. In addition, certificated staff meetings occur once a month to discuss curriculum and instruction. One meeting a month focuses on professional development for strategies to help our English Language Learners succeed.
