11 Opti-Moly: challenge and aims Challenge: Molybdenum exclusively produced as a by- product in copper production. Besides Cu and Au, Mo is 3 rd most important metal resource in Chile Mo production as a by-product is inefficient Aims of the project: 1) Identification of the reason for low recoveries of Mo 2) Develop a method in lab scale to optimize recovery of molybdenite, taking the economically dominating copper production into account 3) Assess the possibility of recovering Mo from slags Opti-Moly: challenge and aims Seite 11

12 Opti-Moly results Primary controls on molybdenite losses: degree of liberation, grain shape and size, as well as residence time: potential for optimization of these factors to improve recovery evidence from large scale flotation plants, as well as time resolved evidence from lab scale testwork Increased molybdenite recovery, Cu recovery remains unchanged evidence on lab scale testwork Quantitative statement for Mo deportment in slags Opti-Moly: results and success of the project Seite 12
