2 Freeance Mobile for Cityworks Freeance Mobile for Cityworks is a mobile application for the following smartphones and tablets: iphone Android smartphones Newer models of BlackBerry smartphones ipad tablets The Freeance Mobile for Cityworks solution reads and writes in a live, connected mode directly to Cityworks Server work order and service request records. How Workers Can Use Freeance Mobile for Cityworks Here s an example of how workers in the field can use the Freeance Mobile for Cityworks mobile app. A field worker notices a broken sidewalk that needs to be fixed. The worker brings up the Freeance Mobile MapViewer app and zooms to their current location. Using Freeance Mobile software, the worker refers to a GIS map on a smartphone and identifies the sidewalk as being located within the public rightof-way. The GIS map can also be reviewed to see if there is a current Cityworks service request or work order for the broken sidewalk and to identify the property owner responsible for the sidewalk. Freeance Mobile will allow user to select a parcel polygon and view attribute data. Freeance Mobile will display any map features published in an ArcGIS Server map service including x,y and geocoded event mapping. A field worker then opens Freeance Mobile for Cityworks application and selects search for work order tool to see if there is an existing work order. The enduser can also tap on the map and field work order map features within a specified area. If there is no existing work order, the worker then opens up the create a work order function in Freeance Mobile software. The worker completes the Cityworks work order record, which can include custom fields, and then adds a GPS point and digital photos. The new work order record is then saved back to the Cityworks database. The GPS location coordinates are written back to the ArcSDE data layer. Once maintenance of the broken sidewalk is completed, a follow-up inspection allows a field worker to open up the Freeance Mobile for Cityworks application, search the GIS map for the work order or go into the work order search tool. The worker selects the correct existing work order, modifies existing fields, adds comments and then closes the work order.
