BAR MEMBERSHIP Florida (1976); Massachusetts (1979) PROFESSIONAL AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE Associate Justice, The Superior Court October September 2008 Commonwealth of Massachusetts For sixteen years, presided over approximately three hundred jury trials, over one hundred jury-waived trials, hundreds of motions for suppression of evidence, dismissal, and summary judgment, review of final administrative agency decisions, issued hundreds of written decisions. These included complex civil rights, wrongful death, products liability, personal injury, medical malpractice and commercial disputes, as well as charges of murder, rape, robbery and other serious criminal matters. Served on several committees of the Superior Court and participated in training programs. January 2000 until June 2002, was Regional Administrative Justice, Essex County Superior Court, supervising dozens of staff; carried out administrative responsibilities in addition to judicial duties.

2 Associate Justice, Lawrence District Court November October 1992 Lawrence, Massachusetts As judge in one of the State s busiest courts, handled both jury and jury-waived trials in civil and criminal cases. Presided over approximately seventy jury trials, most involving criminal charges. Heard hundreds of jury-waived trials on civil, criminal, and family issues, and ruled on civil and criminal dispositive motions. Apart from adult criminal and civil cases, administered and responsible for cases involving juvenile justice, domestic violence, abuse and neglect petitions, and related family law matters. Supervised law clerks, legal interns, and court staff. Lecturer In Law, Northeastern University School of Law September 1985 present Responsible for courses such as: Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Torts, Evidence, Advanced Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law, Civil and Criminal Trial Practice. Evaluations of teaching and supervision have been consistently excellent. Selected by the graduating classes of 1992, 1998 and 2000 as their faculty speaker, the only times a part-time Lecturer in Law has been chosen to deliver the faculty address at commencement. Adjunct Professor, Suffolk Law School Spring present Responsible for two courses: Constitutional Law/Criminal Procedure, covering the law of the 4 th, 5 th and 6 th amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and related state and federal law; Evidence, with an emphasis on the Federal Rules of Evidence. Teaching evaluations by students have been consistently excellent. In May 2012 and 2007, awarded by the graduating classes, the Cornelius J. Moynihan Award for Excellence in Teaching, the only times an Adjunct Professor has received this honor. Adjunct Professor, Boston University School of Law Spring 2013 Responsible for teaching course on Professional Responsibility, using the Mass. Code, the ABA Model Rules, textbook, videos, and guest speakers. Adjunct Professor, Boston College Law School Spring 2003 Newton, Massachusetts Taught evidence, focusing on the Federal Rules of Evidence. Visiting Professor of Law, Northeastern University School of Law August 1998 May ` 1999 During the academic year, while on sabbatical from the Superior Court, was a full-time member of the faculty. Taught Torts and Criminal Law to first-year students. Advised 2

Associate Professor of Law (Assistant Professor 1984 to 1985; Visiting Assistant Professor 1983 to 1984), New England School of Law September December 1986 As a full-time, tenure-track professor, taught courses in the areas of criminal law and criminal procedure. Served on faculty committees and advised students on academic and professional issues. Also supervised students in criminal law field placement settings. Evaluations of teaching were consistently excellent. Resigned upon appointment as Judge of the Lawrence District Court. Lecturer in Law, Northeastern University School of Law, Staff Attorney and Clinical Instructor, Harvard Law School at the Legal Services Institute Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts May July 1982 As full-time attorney, clinical supervisor and instructor, represented low-income clients while teaching and supervising law students in an innovative clinical legal services program run through Harvard Law School. Students caseloads included landlord-tenant disputes, immigration, benefits, care and protection and related juvenile matters.
