What will you need to pay the University? The University will charge tuition fees There may be costs associated with placements There may be costs if you need to repeat a module There is a fee to register with the NMC on completion..but..
Sources of finance and eligibility..to be eligible for an NHS funded course you need to be eligible for an NHS Bursary award On the 1st day of your 1st academic year you must: - have been ordinarily resident in UK & Islands throughout the 3 years preceding - and have settled status in UK within meaning of S33(2A) of Immigration Act and be ordinarily resident in any UK country If you do not meet all of the above criteria, you maystill be eligible for funding The only definitive information is at:
Sources of finance and eligibility An individual assessment is made: If you are eligible, you could anticipate: Tuition fees paid in full by NHS Bursary award may be paid, varies depending on means testing / where you live / course length e.g. for 2015/16 studying + living outside of London, course is 45 weeks / year receive up to 4491 pa Definitive information is at:
Sources of finance and eligibility An individual assessment is made: If you are an EU national not meeting resident in the UK criteria you are likely to be eligible to receive a fees only award. This means that you will not be entitled to a means tested bursary or a non means tested grant. You will only be entitled to tuition fees. At present time all nurse and midwifery training in the UK is NHS funded; there is no known course availability for international (non EEA) fee paying students. Definitive information is at:
Sources of finance and eligibility Others sources may include: Student loan (repayable) ( Dependents allowance Parents learning allowance Childcare allowance Disabled students allowance Practice placement expenses Council tax exemption or discount Secondment from a current NHS employer Definitive information is at:
Applying for NHS finance You can complete an assessment calculator at any time: to estimate what you might receive Application is after you have been offered a place on your University nursing or midwifery course Apply only at Ensure you apply in good time..no funding = no course Ensure you submit all supporting evidence Don t forget cover sheet and student reference number Separate application for student loan or secondment
Repaying NHS finance For Nursing and Midwifery courses at University you do not need to repay the financial support received in respect of tuition fees, bursary or other allowances. Any money received from the optional student loan does need to be repaid in accordance with government guidelines. Funding is normally for the fixed length of your course; if you need to extend a course financial support is not always certain
Thank you for listening We wish you every success as you complete your Access course and make University applications Any questions?
