Placing Orders SHOW & SELL: Unit orders are due online in the Trail s End website, or in paper version no later than Monday Aug 24. While we prefer that units place their orders online through the Trail s End website, units that are not submitting their order online may drop off the paper version at whichever service center is most convenient for them. Show & Sell orders should be placed in full cases, no individual containers may be ordered. How do you place a great Show & Sell order?! a. Create a unit budget b. Think big and make a plan! c. Set your Scouts sales goals based on the budget. d. Communicate goals to families to gain your families buy in and support, and focus on the savings to family because of the popcorn sale! Keep on communicating progress to families through out the sale! e. Your unit s prior years order and sales information is available on the Trail s End website to help Kernels plan this year s orders. f. Need more info and help? Contact your District Kernel or District Executive. g. BEST TIP OF THE DAY! Use the handy easy to use 2015 Show & Sell Order Calculator to calculate a well balanced Show & Sell order! Plug in the amount of sales your unit is aiming for and the form will calculate how many cases of each product you might want to consider ordering to achieve your goal. The 2015 Show & Sell Order Calculator can be found at Please note that all unit Show & Sell orders are reviewed before the final council Show & Sell Order is placed to ensure your unit has the best possible product mix to support your sales goals! Someone from the Popcorn Team may contact you regarding your order to recommend order adjustments. TAKE ORDER: Unit orders are due online in the Trail s End website, or in paper version no later than Saturday October 24, Note that your prize order and the Unit Roster of Selling Scouts are also due Saturday October 24! Take Order ordering TIP! Consider setting your own unit s return date on or before October 19 so you can have plenty of time to collect all the Scout s order forms, compile your unit order, and still have time to double check your order. Units should use the remaining balance of their Show & Sell order to fill their Take Order, thereby reducing the amount needed to order for Take Order. Example: You have 1 case of popping corn left from Show & Sell and need 2 cases for Take Order. Order only 1 case of popping corn when you place your Take Order order and use the 1 case leftover from Show & Sell. 5
Using the Trail s End System: Ordering Popcorn Ordering online using the Trail s End system is very easy and quick! a. Go to the Trail s End website at end.com and click on Scouts Leaders Councils in the top right corner. b. Click on Popcorn System c. Enter your username and password 6

If you would like 36 bags of popping corn for your Show & Sell site sales, place a 3 in the case column on the Trails End website. You would receive 432 bags of popping corn if you put 36 in the CASE column! For Take Order: You do not need to enter all of your Scouts and their individual orders into the Trail s End system. You should compile all of your Scouts order sheets outside of the system and place one order for your whole unit. Please order exactly the amount of product you need starting with full cases and then additional containers. Tip! Want to know how many cases you have ordered before pressing the buy button? 13 How Does Your Unit Pay Council For Popcorn? We understand the importance of the annual popcorn sale to your unit, it takes money to provide a quality program! We are happy to provide the opportunity for your unit to sell popcorn with no up front cost for all Show & Sell orders! We do ask however, that you pay for your popcorn in a timely manner, and follow the payment schedule and policies outlined below. All checks should be made out to Boy Scouts of America. Early payment will be accepted and is appreciated. Paying for your Show & Sell order (payment is due on or before October 24): Payment for your Show & Sell order is due at the Return Day on Saturday, October 24. Please submit one (1) check for your Show & Sell payment, made out to Boy Scouts of America. If you do not have a return to make, you may submit your payment directly to your community service center as long as it is received by 10/24. You will pay for any unreturned popcorn minus the 30% base commission. All bonus commissions will be calculated after the Take Orders are placed. If you have product to return, please bring it to the return day on Saturday, October 24 where the product you are returning will be processed and you will receive a new total reflecting the return. At this time, you must submit payment in full for any popcorn you did not return. Units that do not pay for their Show & Sell order by October 24 will not qualify for the 4% On Time Payment bonus commission. Show & Sell payments are due on or before October 24! Paying for your Take Order order (due on or before December 4): After the October 24 th Take Order deadline, your Unit Kernel will receive an invoice that reflects the total owed for Take Order less your 30% commission and any bonus commissions you may have earned. Payment for your Take Order order is due to your council/community office no later than 12:00pm Noon on Friday, December 4. Please submit one (1) check for your Take Order payment, made out to Boy Scouts of America. Take Order payments are due on or before December 4! 13
Commission Structure Show & Sell and Take Order Commission: Every unit will receive a 30% Base Commission on all sales. Earn an additional 4% bonus commission when a unit meets all of the following criteria: 1. Attend a Unit Kernel Popcorn Training/Kickoff 2. Earn On Time Unit status by meeting all required deadlines including placing orders, picking up orders, returning forms and making payments. PLUS your unit could earn a 50% Bonus Commission! For example: If your 2014 sales were $10,000 and 2015 sales are $12,000 + you ve earned the 4% bonus commission for attending training and meeting all deadlines, your commission would be as follows: Base Commission 30% of $10,000 = $3,000 Bonus Commission 4% of $10,000 = $400 Above & Beyond Commission 50% of $2,000 (growth) = $1,000 TOTAL COMMISSION = $4,400 Didn t sell last year? No problem! Ask your district kernel or district executive how to qualify! Online Sales Commission: Online sales between August 1 st and October 23 rd at 11:59:59pm will count towards your bonus commission and prize sales levels and the amount of commission you earn on these online sales will be the same as what you earn on other sales. Beginning October 24 online commission will be 30% and will not be included in calculating bonus commission or prize levels. 14
Unit Prize Program Options Units can choose one of the three following Prize Program options, and it will apply for all Scouts in the unit: Council sponsored prize program through Keller OR 5% Bonus Commission on top of other commission earned OR 15% Camp Cash to be used at a council owned or run camp (including day camp) or council sponsored trip to a BSA camp (i.e. Philmont contingent). Basically, any camping experience where you pay your fees to the council. PRIZES Scouts may choose 1 (one) prize from the level they sold OR prizes from lower levels that equal, but do not exceed, the level they sold. Prizes are offered through Keller Marketing and have a great selection of Scout theme prizes, gift card and awesome toys! Example: A Scout who sold $1,000 of popcorn may choose 1 prize at the $1,000 level OR 1 prize from the $300 and 1 prize from the $600 level. See the Wings of Exploration prize flyer to see all of the fabulous prizes available! 5% BONUS COMMISSION If your unit chooses not to take prizes or camp cash, you may elect to receive a bonus 5% commission. Units may choose this option to provide their own prize program, fund a unit event that that the Scouts have chosen or off set the yearly participation costs in Scouting for Scouts and their families. The key to a successful sale using this option is to have the choice made by the Scouts and their families. Their buy in is critical in your unit s success! Units may select this option under Orders and then Unit Commission on the Trails End website and the commission will be reflected on all invoices. If you do not select this option ahead of time, we can do so for you and the commission will be calculated and deducted from your final bill total. 15% CAMP CASH Units that choose not to take prizes or the 5% bonus commission can elect to receive 15% in camp cash. Can be used to pay the camper or adult leader fees for a council owned or run camp (including Cub Scout Day Camp), or a council sponsored trip to a BSA camp such as Philmont or Jamboree. The unit will receive one certificate that must be used all at once. If the unit wants to use the certificate for more than one camp or give credit to certain Scouts they will need to apply the appropriate credits internally and collect the remaining fees. The unit must use the certificate during the next camping season. After that, the value will expire. Certificates will be mailed to the Unit Kernel in early The Unit Kernel will need to indicate their unit s prize option choice on the Unit Roster of Selling Scouts and on the Prize Order form. This prize choice will apply for the entire unit. 15
Placing your Unit s Prize/Patch Order All Unit Kernels will need to submit a prize order for their patches, $700 bonus prizes, and Choose Your Own Adventure recognition program order forms, even if they are not utilizing the council sponsored prize program. Kernels can place the unit s prize order by returning the 2015 Unit Master Prize Order Form on or before Saturday October 24 to any of the council service centers or through a direct link from the Trail s End website: 1. On the Trail s End website, click on Orders and the Unit Prize Orders to be directed to Keller s prize ordering website. Please note: When you log in to order your prizes you will find Keller s standard 2015 prize program theme: Building Character. While this looks different than the Wings of Exploration theme used for the Pathway to Adventure Council s prize flyer, the prizes will match our prize flyer and you will not have any issues ordering the prizes listed on our flyer. 2. The page to the right will open. You should already be logged in and ready to place your order (tab in upper right corner reads LOGOUT). If you do not see the screen to the right, click on the Quick Order Tab at the top of the page. a. Confirm District Unit Type, Unit Number, Total $ and Scouts Selling. b.
