Our buildings also provide purpose-built, industry-standard studios, workshops and galleries, all equipped with the very latest technology. The School is involved in many national arts events and festivals, including NottDance, GameCity, the Now festival, Showroom, EXPO and the Live Art Archive. We have our own Bonington Gallery and also collaborate with arts providers like Nottingham Playhouse, the New Art Exchange, the Broadway Media Centre and regional art centre, Nottingham Contemporary. All of our final-year students have the opportunity to showcase their work to the public across an impressive selection of degree show exhibitions in Nottingham. In addition, many course areas offer possibilities to show work at prestigious London design exhibitions such as New Designers, Free Range, D&AD and Graduate Fashion Week, and overseas exhibitions such as SPINEXPO. Programme Overview BA (Hons) Fashion Design is a dynamic year-long top-up degree programme based on project and studio work, with exceptional links to the fashion industry. It has an established international reputation for shaping creative, talented designers, capable of producing innovative, directional designs demanded by today s fast-paced fashion world. Students are required to conduct research and to negotiate design briefs, which involve producing a collection or product range around a theme of their choice. This programme also involves an exciting and unique project which is shared between students in the UK and Hong Kong, known as Fashionmap. This project documents street fashion in both countries and allows students to produce a presentation in relation to future fashion trends. Programme Structure The programme structure is as follows: Semester 1 & 2 Entry Requirements Module Negotiated Fashion Design: Portfolio & Research Projects (CEF Code: 22Z ) A Higher Diploma in Fashion Design or related discipline. Evidence of design skills in portfolio. Evidence of good pattern cutting and manufacturing skills. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview to determine their abilities to undertake the programme. Many of the graduates of this programme have gone to work for renowned brands like Esprit, G2000, Levi Strauss, Ynot, Li & Fung, Evisu, Crystal Group, and Cocktail select shop, I.T., Anteprima, etc. Some students have also decided to go into teaching or work in the media, and some have taken a postgraduate course abroad. Our recent graduates have gone on to study Masters degrees at well-known international universities. 2 Design English Proficiency Requirement An overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS, with no subtest score of less than 5.5; or A score of at least 550 in TOEFL (213 for computer-based test). (Graduates of VTC Higher Diploma are exempted from the requirement.) This consists of a registration fee of HK$3,200 and a tuition fee of HK$87,200. The tuition fee is payable by 2 instalments (1 st instalment: HK$42,000; 2 nd instalment: HK$45,200) and will be collected 1 month before the commencement of the semester. 2. If you accept the offer, you should pay the registration fee and the 1 st instalment of the tuition fee in full before the deadline stated in the offer letter to complete the registration procedures. 3. All fees paid less application fee will be refunded if the programme is withdrawn or not offered. 4. On premature cessation of the programme, all fees and charges that have been collected in respect of any part of the programme failing to be conducted on or after the date of the cessation will be refunded within 1 month of the premature cessation.
