3 Beginners Courses No entry requirements. e-cert / MY IT - Level 1 This training is for people who have little or no experience with using computers or the Internet. Courses within the introduction include MY IT and e-cert My IT! - This course starts with the basics and guides you through the fundamentals of using the internet. Anyone can learn the first few steps, regardless of age or prior knowledge hours e-cert This course starts with the basics and also looks at Microsoft Word, File Management, Internet and Accessories. The course is open to everyone hours Course Length - 20hrs. Benef IT4 - Level 1 The training focuses on the digital skills people need - like how to use , how to do an internet search, how to use services like Skype, conduct simple on-line transactions like book a ticket, pay a bill, reserve a book, as well as optional training relating to digital photographs, banking on-line, safety and security online, use of social networking, use of Apps, or using the internet to assist with your own areas of interest. Course Length - 8 hrs. Page 3

4 Level 2 This programme is targeted at individuals who have some basic ICT skills and in particular are familiar with using the internet and have a working account. The course is divided into 4 Units over 20hrs. 1. Identity & Security Online - 2hrs. 2. Shopping, Selling and Travel Planning Online - 6 hrs. 3. Socialising Online - 4hrs. 4. Internet for Everyday Life - 6hrs. This programme will mainly be delivered in the classroom while also giving learners the opportunity to participate in self-directed learning. Microsoft Digital Literacy - Level 2 Whether you are new to computing or have some experience, Digital Literacy will help you to develop a fundamental understanding of computers. The course is divided into 5 Units over 20hrs. 5 Intermediate Courses ECDL Entry requirements at back of Booklet. The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the world s most successful IT skills certification programme. To date, 10 million people have undertaken the ECDL programme in more than 60 countries worldwide. Outside of Europe the programme is known as the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL); meaning an ECDL certificate is recognised world-wide. The ECDL establishes a standard for everyone who uses a computer in either a professional or personal capacity. It is a certificate that verifies competence in computer use, making the holder readily mobile within Ireland and internationally. Employers and job seekers all agree on the importance of this standard definition of practical competence in Information Technology. From September 2014, the four recommended modules will be offered by CLiC to include Computer Essentials, Online Essentials, Word Processing and Spreadsheets. Certificates can be requested after the completion of 4 modules if required. However if additional modules are completed after this and an additional cert is required a charge of ( 40) will apply. A fee of 40 is taken at the beginning of the course. This covers the cost of a skills card, 4 exams and 4 diagnostics. Candidates are required to cover the costs of repeats and additional diagnostics. Additional modules may be offered to registered students and candidates who undertake these are required to cover the costs associated with them. Each module involves 20hrs.training. Page 5

6 ECDL MODULES Computer Essentials This module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to the use of devices, file creation and management, networks and data security. Online Essentials This module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to web browsing, effective information search, online communication and . Word Processing Learn how to use word processing software to accomplish everyday tasks. Discover how to create and format letters and short documents, work with different page sizes, control font and other settings, and insert images in a document. Spreadsheets Discover how to develop, modify and use a spreadsheet for typical data management and analysis tasks. Learn how to use formulas and functions for performing calculations, and create graphs and charts based on spreadsheet data. Using Databases Gain the knowledge and skills to create and modify tables, queries, forms and reports. Learn how to relate tables, and how to retrieve and manipulate information from a database by using query and sort tools. Presentation Learn how to create, format, modify and prepare presentations for display and printed distribution. Discover how to create presentation templates, control fonts and background settings, and insert tables, images and charts. Page 66

7 Online Collaboration Learn the skills relating to the setup and use of online collaboration tools such as storage, productivity applications, calendars, social media, web meetings, learning environments, and mobile technology. Image Editing Get the concepts and skills to create, capture and enhance images, apply a range of visual effects, prepare images for printing and publishing and generally get the most out of image editing software applications. Web Editing Gain an understanding of key web publishing concepts and learn the core skills required to design, create and maintain a website. You will also learn a range of web design skills from HTML to cascading style sheets (CSS). Advanced Courses TRAIN THE TRAINER - FETAC Level 6 Entry requirements at back of Booklet. This course is designed to qualify you as a professionally recognised Trainer, and to provide you with an overview of the core Training Design and Delivery skills that will enhance your training ability on a professional and practical level. It will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to design, deliver, assess and evaluate training programmes. Length of Course - 5 full days. Page 7

8 CLiC Community aims to engage, enhance self-esteem, build confidence and motivation, and empower individuals, families and local communities to fulfill their potential via ICT training. A range of courses are offered to communities culminating with the opportunities to acquire professionally recognised accredited ICT qualifications. Opportunities also exist for individuals to engage with non-accredited training as a stepping stone to building the necessary skills for further learning such as increased confidence and prerequisite skills such as self management and gaining a positive experience of learning. Entry Requirements Intermediate Courses In order to register for ECDL you must have completed at least The Microsoft Digital Literacy Course or equivalent from another agency. Advanced Courses For The Train the Trainer Course candidates will need to have completed the 4 recommended ECDL Modules or FETAC 4 equivalent ICT modules.
