2 Responsible for teaching coursework including Discrimination, Oppression, and Diversity; Violence and Trauma: An Aspect of Social Work; Practicum Seminar Class Provides practicum coordination/field supervision for foundation and advanced practicum students to ensure university standards and ethics are adhered to in the practicum site Develops curriculum Facilitate the support efforts for Students of Color Course Work: Instructor for Discrimination, Oppression and Diversity class This course explores theoretical and historical perspectives on racism, sexism, ageism, heterosexism, ableism, and other forms of discrimination. Culturally competent social work practice and strategies for change are examined. The curriculum is also designed to help students enhance their interpersonal skills and prepares them for effective culturally competent practice. I have taught this course annually since 2002 Fall Fall 2007 Practicum Coordinator/Field Supervisor As Practicum Coordinator I serve as a liaison between the School of Social Work and the community-based practicum site. I ensure that all parties adhere to university standards and ethical guidelines and ensure students are engaged in a master s level practicum experience. I assist with establishing learning goals and objectives for the student and am a advocate on his/her behalf. I supervise both Foundation and Advanced practicum students throughout the year, averaging 5 to 12 students per semester. Fall 2000 Present Instructor for Trauma and Violence, An Aspect of Social Work class: This class examines the impact that violence has on our society. Students explore the role of the social worker as it pertains to the social justice issues particularly those that intersect with violence. Spring 2000 and the Spring 2002 Advanced Family-Centered Practicum Seminar Instructor: This seminar is designed to help students apply the academic, theoretical, and research principles to the practicum experience. July Present Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence Leadership Institute of Tomorrow (LIFT) Advisory Board Member This board offers over site of the programming. It also provides leadership education and preparation for African American women aspiring to become directors of programs that serve victims of violent crime. May Present Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault Board of Directors member This board provides guidance and oversees rules and regulations pertaining to the coalitions responsibilities to member agency. It is also responsible to oversees legislative issues that affect victims of sexual abuse. August Present Iowa Attorney General Crime Victim Compensation Board member Appointed position by the Iowa Attorney General This board offers guidance and advises to the Executive Director and conducts appeal hearings for victims receiving compensation and VOCA grant funded agencies. May Governor s Appointed Position: Iowa Council for Interstate Compact for Adult Offenders This commission oversees guideline, rules, and regulations for offenders and assists correctional institutions provide services according to the rules of the compact.
