1 Jin Shin Jyutsu Hands On Help for You, Your Family, & Your Patients What is Jin Shin Jyutsu? A way of using your hands to help yourself and others heal. 1
2 What is a Safety Energy Lock (SEL)? Left Parietal Frontal bone Right Parietal Occipital bone Sagittal suture To relieve stress & fatigue, place fingertips closely on sides of the sagittal suture at the crown of the head and pull. Remember to breathe! 2
3 To increase mental clarity, gently hold your sit bones (ischial tuberosities) with same side hands To aid memory, place right hand/fingertips on top center of head & left fingertips on the center of the forehead ~ This can be used as a daily practice, when reading material you wish to retain, or when recalling information 3

5 36 Conscious Breaths Place feet flat on floor, drop shoulders, smile Exhale, then inhale = 1 breath Breathe normally, no need to change anything. Just give your breath your complete attention for 36complete conscious breaths. During 36 Breaths, you may also: Visualize the breath, like a river, flowing up the back and down the front of the body place your fingertips on the opposite anterior cruciate ligament just distal to the elbow place your fingertips on each side of the mid-forehead above the eyes (right hand to right side, left to left) gently hold any finger or palm centers or apply any other Jin Shin Jyutsu connection Jin Shin Jyutsu ~ Helping Attitudes with Fingers Thumb: Worry Preoccupation Depression Digestion Stress nerves Tension in head, shoulders, lungs Grounding Calming Insomnia & back-of-the-head headaches, hold more toward the base of the thumb Cradle each finger completely with the same tenderness you would hold a newborn child ~ firmly, but gently For insomnia & back of the head headaches 5

Give yourself a lift by Holding your thumbs Holding the area just below the middle of both clavicles at the same time Holding the area below the middle of the clavicle on one side and the opposite side back base of the ribs Holding the upper arm with the opposite inner thigh a hand s length above the knee helps open the SELs below the clavicle 8
9 Pain Relief For self and others, gently place RIGHT hand immediately below the medial ankle bone and LEFT hand immediately below the lateral ankle bone on the same side of the body. Right hand is always placed medially and left hand is always placed laterally for this purpose. In addition to the previous pain relieving connection, this connection relieves the pain of TMJ projects: The hand opposite the side of the TMJ pain covers the affected jaw area; lay the fingertips of the other hand below the lateral (outer) ankle bone on the side opposite the TMJ project. 9
10 Breathing difficulties? Asthma? Hold the base of the left front rib cage with your left hand and the back base of the rib cage with your right hand Seizures Use this connection to assist in keeping the SEL on the bottom of the big toes open Left hand to left groin & right hand to crest of right hip. Then right hand to right groin & left hand to crest of left hip. Also assists with relieving headaches Acute Hold big toes tightly 10
11 Our body s thermostat knobs are found at and just below the head of the fibula just around the corner created by the hamstring tendon when the knee is bent. Gently lay the fingertips onto the calf just below these corners, on the left to lower the body s temperature and on the right to raise the temperature. Connect both at the same time to let your body s wisdom balance the temperature. This is most easily done on yourself when seated. Helps relieve hot flashes The left side will also assist with relieving constipation and the right side with relieving diarrhea. To aid the body s immune system and help relieve o Fevers o Colds o Sore throats Also relieves tension in the pelvic girdle Right hand to left upper medial scapula & left hand to right upper medial scapula OR Right hand to left upper medial scapula & left hand to left mid upper thigh. Then reverse to complete flow: Left hand to right upper medial scapula & right hand to right upper thigh. 11
12 To relieve a variety of skin projects such as acne, rashes, scars, and even serious burns Palm both Calves Manchurian Belly Massage Aids in relieving constipation Not actually a massage, this energy pattern is traced very lightly with the palm side of the fingers, continually inwards from the periphery, then outwards from the navel, for no more than 10 minutes. The pattern must follow the direction of the large intestine up the right side, from the right side of the abdomen to the left at the base of the ribs, down the left side, and across to the base of the right side again; end the final round at bottom center. 12
13 Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers Generally, hold each position for 2 3 minutes. Alternatively, you may spend more time with a finger position that seems to need more attention. #1 ~ Hold palm side of left middle finger lightly with right thumb. Place rest of right fingers on back of left middle finger. Reverse for the right middle finger. Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #2 ~ Hold back of left middle finger lightly with the right thumb. Place rest of right fingers on palm side of left middle finger. Reverse for right middle finger. 13
14 Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #3 ~ Hold palm side of left little and ring fingers with right thumb. Place rest of right fingers on back of left little and ring fingers. Reverse for the right hand. Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #4 ~ Hold back of left thumb, index and middle fingers with right thumb. Place rest of right fingers on palm side of left thumb, index, and middle fingers. Reverse for the right hand. 14
15 Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #5 ~ Make circle with right middle finger and thumb (palm side of thumb on middle fingernail). Next slip left thumb between circle of right thumb and middle finger (left thumb palm touching right middle fingernail). Reverse for the right hand. Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #6 ~ Touch right ring fingernail with palm side of right thumb. Reverse for the right hand or use this hand position with both hands at the same time. 15
16 Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #7 ~ Touch palms of left and right middle fingers in folded hands position. Daily Balancing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Fingers #8 ~ Touch left and right middle fingernails together. 16
17 The Main Central Vertical Flow is the source of our life energy in the body. This energy flows down the center of the front of the body and up the center of the back. Harmonizing the Main Central Vertical regularly centers you and ensures that you have plenty of energy. Depending on need, some people will find this flow calming and prefer to apply it at bedtime; others may be energized by it and prefer to apply it first thing in the morning. Jin Shin Jyutsu ~ Main Central Vertical Flow The right hand remains on the top of the head while the left hand moves down the body until the final step when the right hand moves to the coccyx (tailbone). Umbilicus optional Step 1: Place the fingers of the right hand on the top of the head (where they will remain until step 6). Place the fingers of the left hand on your forehead above and between your eyebrows. Step 2: Now move the left fingertips to the tip of the nose. Step 3: Move the left fingertips to your sternum (center of your chest between your breasts). Step 4: Move your fingers to the base of your sternum (center of where your ribs start, above the stomach). Step 5: Move your fingers to the top of your pubic bone (above the genitals, center). Step 6: Keep your left fingertips in place and move your right fingertips to cover your coccyx 17
