6 Install and Integrate LAN Infrastructure Goal: Install and integrate infrastructure easily Challenges: LAN cabling is miswired or patched incorrectly Solution: Measure twisted pair cable length, verify wiremap, or place a locating tone on a cable. Identify nearest switch, slot and port. Things to consider: How do you test the physical layer? Are speed/duplex mismatches common? Has PoE been deployed? Have you employed VLANs to segregate network traffic? Do neighboring APs share the same channels as your APs? VLAN membership is improperly assigned Solution: Check VLAN settings by actively identifying VLAN membership by switch port and device.
