7 Don t forget. Bring your medications with you when you come to see your doctor. Bring all your medications with you to your doctors visit. It is important for your doctor to see all of the medicines that you are taking. Bring also, the over-the-counter medicines and vitamins that you take as these may interact with your regular medication.

15 Medicines at an affordable cost. Out-patient Pharmacy LSU Out-patient Pharmacy offers a variety of brand and generic medications at affordable rates to our patients. Other services to benefit our patients include: A Call Back system which notifies patients that their prescriptions are ready for pick up. Medicare Part D (only the CCRX plan) is accepted. Registration is fast and easy with our new KIOSK. Patients can drop off prescriptions and return at a future time if they chose not to wait for their prescriptions. Don t get caught short. For your routine medications, those that you take regularly, please call us 2 weeks before your medication runs out. They will determine is you qualify for Medicaid. 19 The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) We will work to determine if you are eligible for Medicaid. For information call: The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) screens all inpatient admissions to the Interim LSU Public Hospital to determine Medicaid eligibility. MAP can also assist you in applying for GNOCHC, a Medicaid program designed to assist low-income residents of Orleans, St. Bernard, Jefferson, or Plaquemines parish. 20 Our Free Care Program Who can apply? Patient must be: 1) a Louisiana resident and can provide evidence of intent to remain indefinitely. 2) a qualified alien; U.S. citizenship is not required. Who is a Qualified Alien? One who has authorized entry and may continue to stay in this country. What makes up a Family Unit? Individuals who are related by marriage, adoption, or residents whose income can be legally applied to patients medical bills. Not be counted as a part of the family unit. Eighteen (18) years old, not in school, or emancipated minors and children living under the care of individuals not legally responsible for their support shall not be counted as a part of the family unit.
21 Free Care If you are approved for Free Care: You & your family unit, will receive free care for all medical services for 183 days, (approximately 6 months). You will also be able to use the hospital outpatient pharmacy to get many of your medications at a reduced cost. Renew your application for Free Care before the end of 183 days. Special Note: New patients, or their family member, have 10 working days from the date of discharge (if hospitalized) or the date of their clinic visit, to apply for free care. NOTE: Patients with commercial insurance plans are not eligible for medically indigent determination due to health plan and legal requirements.
22 Applying for Free Care? Patients applying for Free Care need to provide the following items. Eligibility will be determined only after a review of the required documents below.
