13 The OpenScape UC Application Clients Outline 1 The OpenScape UC Application Clients This document compiles and describes all client applications available for operating the communication functions provided by the OpenScape UC Application server. The client applications that have no manual of their own are explained in detail. For all other clients you find a short feature overview and a reference to the corresponding manual. 1.1 Outline Structure of this manual. The instructions on hand are divided into the following chapters: Chapter 1, "The OpenScape UC Application Clients" In this chapter you find general information on the OpenScape UC Application communication solution as well as information on the structure and the use of this manual. Chapter 2, "The Communications solution OpenScape UC Application" In this chapter you find an overview of the OpenScape UC Application communications solution. Chapter 3, "The Clients for OpenScape UC Application" In this chapter you find a short feature overview of the clients available for OpenScape UC Application as well as information about where to find the respective manual. Depending on the operating system, the browser used, the screen resolution, the configurations on your PC and your selection of the user interface style these dialogs may appear slightly different Reference Manuals This section informs you about additionally available user documentation on OpenScape UC Application. 17 The OpenScape UC Application Introduction 2 The OpenScape UC Application Overview of the OpenScape UC Application clients. 2.1 Introduction The OpenScape UC Application communications solution UC means Unified Communications here enables you to reach people fast and smoothly, or to access important information. When using the OpenScape UC Application in the Enterprise Edition it does not matter from where you set up the connection or retrieve information: in the office, at home or on the road. This software solution is provided on a server and can be used by multiple users at the same time. The Personal Edition provides mostly the functionality of a softphone without using the server of the Enterprise Edition Main Features Overview of the main features. The OpenScape UC Application simplifies your business communication by summarizing all access and operating elements in one application. 18 The OpenScape UC Application Introduction Feature Description Clients Presence-based contact management Enables you to view information on presence and availability in real time and provide it for your colleagues. Additionally, calls via the contact list are possible. Configurable user interface Enables the user to configure the user interface for compact and enhanced representation. Team functions Team functions increase efficient collaboration in the team. The following team functions are available: Monitoring the phones of your team partners. Calling your team partners. Accepting calls to your team partners. Accessing the journal entries under All Calls of a team partner. One-number service (ONS) You can issue a single telephone number via which you can be reached. You can make and take calls at a device different from your office phone (i. e. your preferred device). For outgoing calls, your office phone number is always transferred as caller number. Using routing rules Softphone CITRIX-compatibility 4 Information feature (Tell-me-when) You can define several private routing rules for your incoming calls and select one of them if required. Integrated SIP softphone with the feature of making local calls. Note: The feature SIP- Softphone is not available for terminal server clients. Allows sorting and grouping calls as well as initiating outgoing calls by clicking on a name or number. Native client support for instant messages based on extensible messaging and presence protocol (XMPP) allows using existing Enterprise instant-messaging platforms such as Openfire or Jabber XCPTM. Enables using several devices and device lists for incoming and outgoing calls via the one-number service. Enables naming a selected device list. The device list can be assigned to a status to attribute calls in a certain order or to certain devices. With the help of this control feature the name and phone number of a caller can be displayed. The name and number must be in your contact list. The server-based integration of Micosoft Office Communications Server enables access to your OCS contact list. You can search for OCS-based contacts and import them in the OpenScape contact list and communicate with your contacts/colleagues via instant messaging. Your OpenScape presence status is synchronized with the OCS presence status. The server-based integration of IBM Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange Server allows access to global and private contacts and address books as well as the inbox and the calendar (may vary depending on the client). Performing MeetNow! conferences via telephone. Easy-to-start application that provides the following features: Calling subscribers from any application via copying the phone number to the clipboard. Signaling of incoming calls and instant messages, even if the windows of OpenScape Web Client or of OpenScape Desktop Client are closed. Automatic logging on to the clients installed on your workstation through use of your local Windows account if you are already logged in at our workstation. Logging on to clients via Windows user account You can export and import your contact data as Microsoft Outlook-based contacts. X X TSP support enables direct calling from selected s or address book entries in Microsoft Outlook. The associated contacts need to have been assigned a phone number for this purpose. Installing the OpenScape Extensions for Microsoft Outlook/OpenScape Extensions for Lotus Notes provides functions in Microsoft Outlook/IBM Lotus Notes for scheduling conferences via a meeting request in the calendar of Microsoft Outlook/ IBM Lotus Notes. You can perform MeetNow! conferences via a special service access number. The conference room is specified by entering the same, freely selectable PIN. 21 The OpenScape UC Application Introduction Your status information - the basis for ideal communication OpenScape UC Application uses your status to determine how the communication is to take place. Your colleagues can always immediately see whether you are available, in a meeting or busy. NOTICE: Of course, you can specifically prohibit displaying your status information for individual subscribers. Always remember to define your status and to update it regularly. In a deployment with Micosoft Office Communications Server integration the presence status is exchanged between the systems and always corresponds to the status you have set last, no matter whether you have specified it in the OpenScape UC Application or in the Micosoft Office Communications Server. Your contacts - a list of colleagues, customers, family participants and friends. You can configure your contacts to gain a quick overview of your status and to facilitate selecting the most appropriate communications medium. This is particularly useful if your contacts are other OpenScape UC Application users, since you have then the best possible overview of your communications options. You can also configure contact persons as groupware contacts without OpenScape UC Application. Integrating people you contact frequently in your contact list simplifies your work significantly. Your devices - You determine them, theopenscape UC Application keeps track. You choose the devices via which you take calls and that you would like to use to make calls. The status of all your devices is tracked for every communication starting from your OpenScape UC Application clients and is used for the corresponding routing of incoming calls. Your office telephone status or your softphone status can also be tracked if you make calls directly from the telephone. Access to the effective features of the OpenScape UC Application The OpenScape Desktop Client (Personal Edition as well as OpenScape Desktop Client Enterprise Web Embedded Edition is your desktop application. It provides trouble-free communication and cooperation with others from your desk with each of your telephones, your integrated softphone included. You can use the OpenScape Desktop Client for easy access to the OpenScape UC Application via an internet browser. The OpenScape Mobile Clientenables access to the OpenScape UC Application via mobile phone. You can use the OpenScape Voice Portal to access the OpenScape UC Application via keypad (Dual Tone Multi Frequency - DTMF) Microsoft Groupware and Office Integration Collaboration with Microsoft Groupware and Microsoft Office. 22 The OpenScape UC Application Introduction The OpenScape UC Application supports copying Outlook contacts so that you can use your contacts from the OpenScape UC Application clients. This must be configured by your system administrator. If your system administrator does not configure copying your Outlook contacts as OpenScape UC Application contacts, the Outlook and OpenScape UC Application contacts are managed on the respective servers separately. However, you may copy Outlook contacts to your OpenScape UC Application contact list. The Microsoft Office integration with the OpenScape UC Application enables you to: Integrate any of your Outlook contacts in your OpenScape UC Application contact list. Add contacts from the global Microsoft Exchange address book (global address list, GAL). Call a contact directly from Outlook. Send an to a person of your OpenScape UC Application contact list by clicking on the icon next to the desired entry. Receive your voic directly in your inbox. Administer your inbox, your calendar and your voic s by telephone IBM Lotus Groupware Integration Collaboration with IBM Lotus Groupware. Your Lotus Notes contacts are separated from your OpenScape UC Application contacts, since they can only be maintained in the third-party system.
