16 S T A T E O F T H E C T I M A R I N E E N V I R O N M E N T Turtles and marine mammals are endangered and rare species. MARINE FAUNA Threats: Hunted down as food, egg exploitation, loss of nesting habitats, marine pollution, and ecotourism malpractices. 18
