4 Stronger U.S. Manufacturing Manufacturing supports an estimated 17.6 million jobs in the U.S. Manufacturers contributed $2.09 trillion to the economy. This figure has steadily risen since Since Chrysler and GM emerged from bankruptcy in mid-2009, the auto industry has added over 500,000 jobs - industry s strongest growth on record. 4

7 Stronger U.S. Manufacturing The President has launched manufacturing initiatives: Invested nearly $1 billion to upgrade community colleges to train workers. Expanded investments in applied research for emerging, cross-cutting technologies. Launched a new initiative to deploy the talent of returning veterans to indemand jobs including advanced manufacturing. TRAINING OUR VETERANS - The SBA s Boots to Business Program has trained more than 25,000 transitioning veterans on starting a business. 7

This has been a core part of SBA s mission since SBIC was the second program enacted into law after SBA was formed, right after the main 7(a) loan vehicle. Today, we have about 300 licensed SBICs. The SBIC program is a true public-private partnership. Our government invests in our investors, and that gives us a leg up in the global economy. Last year, the SBA shattered our record for export finance, supporting $3.1 billion in export sales. In FY 2014 SBA loans to exporters increased 12.6%. 14

16 Exports -- more business, more jobs TRANS PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP 11 Asia- Pacific countries: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam Will open markets that comprise 40% of global GDP 570 million middle-class consumers in the Asia-Pacific right now. That number is expected to grow to 2.7 billion over the next 15 years. 16
