2 Eligibility Requirements for Children & Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans (CSDDV) Veteran CSDDV provides scholarships for dependent children and unremarried spouses of Florida veterans whose official military and residency status have been certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. The veteran will: Be a Florida resident for one year immediately preceding time of death, determination of 100% disability, or prisoner of war/missing in action classification, and either o Have died as a result of service-connected injuries, diseases, or disabilities sustained while on active duty, or o Have been certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs as having service-connected 100% permanent and total disabilities. o Have been classified as a prisoner of war or missing in action by the Armed Forces of the United States or as civilian personnel captured while serving with the consent or authorization of the United States Government during wartime service for a dependent child to receive scholarship funding (children only). Children The child will: Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Be a dependent child of a qualified veteran whose official military and Be between the ages of 16 and 22. Meet Florida s residency requirements for receipt of state student financial aid. A student s residency status is determined by the postsecondary institution. Receive educational opportunity until such a time as the parent classified as prisoner of war or missing in action is returned alive or is classified otherwise.

3 Spouses Eligibility Requirement(s) for Spouses of Deceased Veterans The spouse will: Be unremarried. Have been the spouse of a qualified veteran whose official military and Have been married to the veteran and a Florida resident for 1 year immediately preceding the veteran s death as certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. Apply for the scholarship within 5 years after the veteran s death as certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. Eligibility Requirement(s) for Spouses of Disabled Veterans The spouse will: Have been the spouse of a qualified veteran whose official military and Have been married to the disabled veteran for one or more years as certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. Have been married to the veteran and a Florida resident for 1 year immediately preceding the veteran s 100% disability as certified by the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. Accept scholarship funding only during the duration of the marriage and up to the point of termination of the marriage by dissolution or annulment. Scholarship Funding for Children and Spouses CSDDV provides funding for tuition and registration fees at an eligible Florida public postsecondary institution or an equivalent amount at an eligible Florida private postsecondary institution. To receive scholarship funding, the student will: Apply and meet the scholarship eligibility requirements. Enroll in an undergraduate degree or certificate program of study for a minimum of six credit hours. Not have previously received a baccalaureate degree. Visit for current year award amounts.

4 The Application Process The student will: Submit a fully completed (error free) Initial Student Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) by April 1. The FFAA is available at Select State Grants, Scholarships & Applications, then Apply Here from the menu bar. Ensure that the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs certifies the applicant s eligibility. Check the status of the application. Visit and select State Grants, Scholarships & Applications. From the menu bar, select Application Status & Award History, Initial Student Status, and then Application/Certification.
