His primary focus is in the construction industry. He has an extensive background in assurance and accounting with emphasis in real estate and construction contractors. In order to deliver cutting edge solutions to his clients, Dave draws upon an arsenal of knowledge, experience and educational certifications. Dave is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants (NSCPA), and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA). Michael was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan area and is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Michael worked for various CPA firms in Michigan before joining Weber O Brien. As the result of working with various CPA firms, Michael has gained extensive training, knowledge and experience in a variety of tax, accounting and consulting services. Michael serves as a director on the board of BeInstrumental Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization public charity dedicated to harnessing the power of the arts by providing aspiring musician s programs with educational opportunities, mentoring and the financial resources to pursue their music ambitions. 16 Small Business Health Care Tax Credit Applies for Small Employers : Fewer than 25 full-time equivalent employees Average wage of less than $50,000/year (excludes owners) Pay at least 50% of employee health insurance premiums Maximum credit is 35% of premiums paid for 2013 and 50% in Credit is refundable! 16
17 Individual Health Insurance Mandate Starting in 2014, all applicable individuals that do not have health insurance coverage will be penalized until they acquire the necessary coverage. The penalty is the greater amount of either a flat rate or a calculation based on a percentage of household income. The flat rates are $95 in 2014, $325 in 2015 and $695 in Per uninsured household member Household member under age 18, the penalty is cut in half Household max is 3 times the flat dollar amount 17
18 Individual Health Insurance Mandate The percentage used to figure the penalty are 1% in 2014, 2% in 2015 and 2.5% in The penalty cannot exceed the annual premiums that a bronze level insurance plan in the health exchange would offer. The penalty is calculated on a monthly basis. The penalty is paid on 2014 tax return. The penalty can be taken out of a tax refund If you owe there is no consequence for not paying the penalty. 18
