1 MEMO ISSUE DATE: FROM: TO: SUBJECT: Warren Birmingham, Hockey NSW Coaching Director Affiliated NSW Association Executives Further information on the Regional Coaching Coordinator Network Regional Coaching Coordinator and Hockey NSW strategic plan The RCC network impacts directly on the Hockey NSW strategic objectives in the following areas: Game Development Increases recruitment at the grass roots level evenly throughout NSW Ensures Hockey becomes part of NSW School system Ensures implementation of Hockey Australia programs throughout all regions Develops the officials throughout the regions Provides a systematic approach to the development of under 12 players throughout NSW Provides ongoing support to the Hockey NSW associations Focuses on developing the volunteer base throughout the regions Player Development Increase participation and reduces cost of developing players in the regions Provides a regional high performance coaching structure to reduce costs to the athlete Ensures the Regional Academies are congruent with the Hockey NSW pathway and program Allows Hockey NSW to develop high performance athletes between Improves the level of transparency in regards to state team selection Player Development 35% Retention: Clinics & HP Game Development 65% Recruitment & Retention
2 Regional Coaching Coordinator Network It is possible to have more than one RCC in a region. This will depend on the Association contribution and number of Associations committed to the RCC network within the region.

5 Advantages of this model Gives control of hockey in NSW back to Hockey NSW community Ensures all HA programs are administered throughout the regions Increases the player development at regional level and significantly reduces costs of clinics to parents Increases the Recruitment of hockey throughout NSW Streamlines the Regional Academy Programs within Hockey NSW Creates a coordinated method of selecting state players Creates a greater presence of Hockey NSW at ground level throughout NSW Creates a Coaching Web to ensure the coaching methodologies are being delivered and fostered within the communities throughout the entire NSW Region Ensures proper allocation of resources to meet service delivery expectations. Actively maintains and develops a network of influential stakeholders and volunteers. RCC Role & KPI Responsibilities
6 RCC KPI s Regional Academies Design training programs and to assist in facilitating of coaching days in the region for the Regional Academy year old Development Program To coach and manage the regionally based athletes in this program and to ensure the program is being implemented effectively with the regionally based athletes in the program. This program is focused on the state s high performance athletes (approximately 20 per region) Regional Carnivals /State Championships To run coaching programs and assist selections at State Championships Development Days for Under 12 s To coach and manage the under 12 Development days approximately 5 per region Regional Hockey Recruitment To implement Hockey Ed programs School Enhancement Program RCCs to link in with State PSSA/CHS Carnivals: Conduct a Development sessions at PSSA State Carnival and be an Advisory Selector*. Conduct a HPC style program at the CHS State Carnival and IGGSA equivalent and be an Advisory Selector*. *Advisory Selector is a position that other selectors can consult with for input. The position provides Hockey NSW with the opportunity to build an understanding with the schools sector what the organisation is looking to achieve and the attributes they are looking for in players and systems to further NSW hockey. Coach the Association Game Development Officer (GDO) & Association Rep Coach Program To facilitate, coordinate and manage the development program across the region through establishing a satellite coaching structure in associations to facilitate programs for the association Umpire /Official Development To develop umpires and officials throughout the participating regional associations
7 RCC and the Association Game Liaison Officer (GLO) Association GLO Roles and Responsibilities (volunteer position) The RCC will be responsible for developing the relationship with the Association GLO to ensure the Association is being effectively serviced by Hockey NSW programs This role is one of coordination with the RCC, not a hands on Game development role. The primary responsibility of the Association GLO is to direct the RCC in implementing RCC KPI s at the Association level e.g. Promote Development Clinics Develop School Programs HA Programs implementation Association Rep Coach Development, Umpire and Official Development To conduct satellite training for Hockey NSW programs RCC Profile Qualifications/Experience Current Level 2 Coach Accreditation Minimum Standard Endeavouring to obtain level 3 accreditation Currently engaged in Coaching at a State team level Distinguished coaching/playing career Strong positive standing within the Australian Hockey community Excellent communication, presentation and conflict management skills Excellent organisational skills Strong background of implementing strategic solutions in the sporting or business environment
