2 PMADC 2009 PM, SPM & PPM Certification Training Requirements Introduction The PMADC is responsible for ensuring that training requirements for PM, SPM, and PPM certification are relevant to and supportive of PB s goals and employee development. To that end, the training requirements are being revised beginning with the 2009 certification cycle. There will be a two-year transition for those candidates who have partially completed the previous requirements.

3 PM Certification Training Requirements The table below lists the topics/competencies identified as important areas of mastery for PMs, and training modules approved for each topic/competency. Training requirements are as follows: Candidates must complete eight (8) of the training modules, one from each topic/ competency. While candidates may choose to take multiple modules from one topic where available, only one of those will count toward certification. There will be a two-year transition plan for 2009 and During this time candidates may apply no more than four (4) of any of the previously approved modules that they have already completed to the training requirements will be the first year when only the new modules listed in the table below will meet the certification training requirements. 5 PPM Certification Training Requirements The table below lists the topics/competencies identified as important areas of mastery for PPM, and training modules approved for each topic/competency. For 2009, the SPM and PPM training modules are similar, in subsequent years the PPM requirements will be revised significantly to offer training opportunities specific to the PPM level of experience. Training requirements are as follows: Candidates must complete seven (7) of the training modules, one from each topic/competency with the HMM-06 Strategy Execution course mandatory for certification at the PPM level. While candidates may choose to take multiple modules from one topic where available, only one of those will count toward certification. There will be a one-year transition plan for During this time candidates may apply no more than four (4) of any of the previously approved modules that they have already completed to the training requirements. For the 2010 certification year, the requirements will include the courses listed below if not already taken for previous SPM certification. Significant revisions will be made and additional training courses suitable for PPMs advanced skills will be added to the list. There is only one transition year because the new curriculum for PPM includes more advanced modules that build on the basic PM modules. After 2009, PPM candidates should be educated with the advanced modules designed for their skills. 6 PM Certification Evaluation Guidelines Evaluation Criteria Project Manager Senior Project Manager Principal Project Manager Size or type of Project and Responsibility PM on a Typical Project Deputy PM or Task Manager on Large Project of Complex Project. PM on Large Project or Deputy PM on Very Large Project. Project can also be a Complex Project or a project with multiple disciplines. PM on Very Large Project. Size or Type of Project Definitions: - Typical Project: Projects typical for the office and/or business unit in which the applicant works. - Large Project: >US $1 million PB Contract Value or multiple simultaneous projects >US $500,000 in revenue per year. - Very Large Project: >US $5 million PB Contract Value or multiple simultaneous projects >US $2.5 million in revenue per year. - Complex Project: Projects of strategic value to the company, high profile and political, difficult projects, high-risk projects, and complex organization and structure may be considered in determining project size criteria for exceptional cases. Applicant must demonstrate through narrative descriptions the complexity of the project(s) and thoroughly document the rationale for invoking the exceptional case situation. * For applicants from Europe, years of experience will not be considered in determining certification. Project performance, number of projects and other requested information will be used to determine certification.

Next steps Complete the PM E-Learning Registration form and have your manager submit it to pbu@pbworld.com. For the 2009 certification cycle, no more than four (4) of the previously approved modules may be applied to the PM, SPM or PPM training requirements. Determine the number of courses you have taken. Follow the steps in the scenario above to access the e- learning courses needed to complete your training requirements.
