Welcome Thank you for your interest in joining the team at Cornwall Air Ambulance. About the Charity The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee. Incorporated in 2009, the charity carries out the activities of its predecessor, the First Air Ambulance Service Trust. The Charity has a turnover close to 4m pa, employs 24 people and is supported by over 250 volunteers. We are an independent charity largely dependent on the support of the local community and business. Cornwall Air Ambulance was the first charity established to provide an air ambulance helicopter in the UK. The service has been flying for over 28 years and has attended over 27,000 incidents across the county. The helicopter is on scene within an average of 12 minutes of a 999 call being made. Patients are flown to hospitals across the region. Although we are an essential part of the emergency services, the charity is independent and largely dependent on the support of the local community and business. Cornwall Air Ambulance is a growing charity with a high profile and an innovative and hardworking team culture. Our people and our values are very important in everything that we do, reflected in being winners of the Best Employer Award 2015 at Cornwall Business Awards. We contract an experienced Helicopter Operator for the provision of air ambulance, and for management of all of the associated regulatory complexities. We hold a Service Level Agreement with the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for the provision of Paramedic Aircrew and clinical governance elements of the service. We deliver a life-saving service using MD902 Helicopters, supplemented by Rapid Response Vehicles (RRV) from our operation headquarters on the outskirts of Newquay Airport. Our 5 year strategic plan is focussed on improving our service delivery to the beneficiaries of the charity, and within this period includes supporting our Paramedics through a Masters Degree in Pre-Hospital Care and Retrieval, and enhancing the range of clinical interventions they can offer patients at scene. We have an exciting opportunity for Educational Support Physician placements as we embark on establishing the educational and critical care elements of our Enhanced Clinical Development programme. The ESP s will benefit from a purpose built working environment, which includes the new addition of space dedicated to the training and development of clinical aircrew. The physician placements will facilitate, observe and mentor the clinical practice, both during operational flying shifts, and through governance review processes. The successful applicants will also, as part of the team, be able to contribute to the other service focussed elements of the Charity strategic plan, and our vision to provide a Third Generation helicopter platform for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
