NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services including; an emergency department, critical care unit, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and specialised aged care, community rehabilitation, and inpatient, community, aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services. There is also a broad range of community health services and NHW auspices a number of other regional services in post acute care, palliative care and infection control. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Essential A current National Police Check (renewed every 3 years) A current Working with Children Check (renewed every 5 years) Statutory Declaration for applicable workers who have lived overseas Ability to comply with the Behavioural Outcomes for this role A University recognized degree in Speech Pathology Eligible for membership to Speech Pathology Australia Possess a sound knowledge of Speech Pathology theory and intervention strategies within a sub-acute ambulatory care setting An understanding of the differences and similarities between Speech Pathology practice across adult Acute, Sub-Acute and Community programs Demonstrated experience working as a Speech Pathologist within one or all of the different clinical areas across Acute, Sub-Acute and Community programs Knowledge of client and family-centered care Proven commitment to professional development and evidence based practice Ability to be self directed and work independently Sound organizational, problem solving and decision making skills Experience in student supervision and/or staff supervision/training Experience in health promotion, quality improvement and/or service development activities Desirable Experience working as a Speech Pathologist within a community sub-acute ambulatory care setting Demonstrated leadership skills ROLE STATEMENT The primary role of the Grade 2 Speech Pathologist is to: Provide high quality Speech Pathology services including assessment and intervention of adult patients across the organisation. Be familiar with best practice guidelines in Speech Pathology. Works in collaboration with clients, their families and staff, both across the organisation and with external service providers. Collaboratively plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of Speech Pathology services across the organisation. Provide supervision and support to Grade 1 Speech Pathologist, Allied Health Assistants and Students (as required). Actively participate in health promotion and/or quality improvement activities. Strategic Priorities Clinical Services Please note that some of the clinical duties will differ according to program area and the role of Speech Pathology within these.
