NQF Ref 0675 Version 4 Page 1 of 5 National Diploma in Electricity Supply (Level 6) Level 6 Credits 120 Purpose This diploma is for people working in the electricity supply industry and provides the rules for the grouping of standards into a recognised and relevant qualification that recognises the higher technical, functional and theoretical skills required by the industry. Graduates of this diploma will possess a broad understanding of electricity supply fundamentals to the level required for employment. The qualification will provide a base from which further industry linked qualifications can be added, and could provide a pathway to higher qualifications in the industry eg degrees or professional certification. The qualification is flexible in that it enables candidates to structure the qualification to suit their chosen career path or an employer s requirements. There are two key elements to the qualification: the first contains standards specific to the roles and functions in the electricity supply industry, the second allows for the balance of credits required for the qualification to be obtained from a range of National Qualifications Framework subfields and domains. The qualification has a number of domain and standard selections that can be crosscredited to or from other qualifications. This will naturally encourage further learning and attainment, and provides a pathway into higher education and qualifications including degrees. This qualification builds on the National Certificates in Electricity Supply at Level 4 and the National Diploma in Electricity Supply (Level 5) [Ref: 0674]. Undertaking this diploma will enable the learner to: develop specialist higher level industry understanding and knowledge through the selection of higher level electricity supply unit standards; achieve formal industry recognition of achievement at an advanced level. Credit Range Elective Balance Level 5 credits 0-40 0-40 Level 6 or above credits 40-120 0-40 Minimum totals 80 40
