Summary of the broad purpose of the position in relation to the organisation's goals (its expected outcome and how it is achieved). The Occupational Therapist AHP1 as part of a multidisciplinary team is accountable for the provision of standard inpatient and/or outpatient services resulting in quality of care and improved outcomes for clients within Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the Royal Adelaide Hospital or CALHN programs or community. The Occupational Therapist AHP1, works under direct clinical supervision and demonstrates at least a competent level of professional knowledge and skill. With increasing experience will independently undertake standard professional tasks. May be required to provide professional/clinical supervision to Allied Health Assistants, undergraduate or postgraduate Occupational Therapy students on observational placements, and work experience students. 2. Reporting/Working Relationships (to whom the person reports, staff for whom the person is responsible, and other significant connections and working relationships within the organisation). Is accountable to the Senior Manager Occupational Therapy and Director of Occupational Therapy, CALHN. The Occupational Therapist will report to and receive clinical advice, guidance and supervision from the delegated Senior Occupational Therapist. Works within a multi-disciplinary team framework, in collaboration with other health professionals, service providers and the community. Participates in meetings and committees/sub committees as required. Page 3

Statement of Key Outcomes and Associated Activities. 4.1 Contribute to the clinical management of patients across CALHN by: Using a competent level of professional knowledge and skill to provide Occupational Therapy assessments, make interpretations of assessment findings, and formulate and implement Occupational Therapy intervention plans in collaboration with patients, carers and relevant other clinicians. Recording timely information regarding assessments and interventions in patients' medical records. Attending and actively participating in multidisciplinary activities such as ward rounds and clinical meetings. Delegating appropriate tasks to Occupational Therapy assistants and ensuring that delegated tasks are performed safely and effectively. Incorporating relevant evidence and/or accepted best practice in the selection and application of Occupational Therapy methods and techniques. Providing an educational service regarding the Occupational Therapy management for other staff members, students and outside enquirers, (e.g. country hospitals, Domiciliary Care). Using a competent level of professional knowledge and skill to provide Occupational Therapy assessments, make interpretations of assessment findings, and formulate and implement Occupational Therapy intervention plans in collaboration with patients, carers and relevant other clinicians. 4.2 Contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the occupational therapy service by: Using sound self-organisation, communication and team skills to help deliver a consistent and reliable standard of service.
