Independent Multidisciplinary Injury & Vocational Rehabilitation Life Improving Solutions

Life Improving Solutions About Us Medicess is a nationwide Injury & Vocational Rehabilitation Company. We help patients to recover and return to work from simple, complex and catastrophic injuries, disease and psychological illness. Independence Our business is wholly independent and privately owned, with no associations or affiliations with any other organisation. Independence is an essential requirement for the delivery of impartial and ethical services to injured persons and any parties involved in the litigation environment. Flexibility Our services have been designed to provide coordinated and cost-effective programmes that enable patients to achieve optimal recovery, quality of life and to return to work in the shortest possible timeframe. Proactive We believe that rehabilitation has to make a difference. Medicess is proactive in delivering clinical and vocational solutions. We augment and accelerate recovery through developing and delivering robust programmes, integrating private and NHS services. Our services are available across the UK to Employers, Insurers, Solicitors and Public Organisations.

Success Stories Medicess has successfully provided rehabilitation to thousands of patients and helped them to recover from illness and injury, return to work and improve levels of their independence and quality of life. On each individual case we record the benefits of our interventions in terms of advanced recovery times achieved, justifying the benefits of our practices. Here are just a few examples of how Medicess has helped its patients: Absent employee with multiple needs returned to work within 12 weeks A 36-year-old gentleman struck by a falling pallet sustained injuries to his left wrist, lower back and shoulder in a workplace incident. His symptoms caused significant depression due to loss of personal independence and physical function. Medicess developed a multidisciplinary rehabilitation programme consisting of Psychological therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Vocational Rehabilitation. A worksite assessment in the early stages facilitated a return to work on suitable duties that complimented rehabilitation goals. This enabled the patient to return to the work environment whilst being actively treated, and he was subsequently able to return to his pre-injury duties within just 12 weeks. Teenager with facial burns achieved optimal recovery within 3 months Medicess was recently highly praised for enabling a 17 year-old man to return to work following an explosion of paint stripper which caused facial burns and psychological symptoms relating to body image. Following a comprehensive assessment, the multidisciplinary team coordinated cognitive behavioural therapy and therapeutic scar management, alongside a graded return-to-work programme. The patient s psychological symptoms resolved and his social confidence returned, and he was able to return to full pre-injury hours and duties at work. The case was closed within 3 months of Medicess instruction. Seamless care delivered to the benefit of a head injury patient A 35 year old Polish lady was trapped in her car after being hit by a speeding HGV and sustained a severe head injury resulting in cognitive, psychological, orthopaedic and neurological problems. Medicess organised private therapy aids and equipment trials (such as communication aids, environmental control systems, specialist wheelchairs and a Polish buddy for translation) which successfully reduced the demands upon family members and facilitated engagement in therapy tasks, as well as enabling access to social and religious activities. Medicess also utilised treatments which supported and complemented the NHS care both while the patient was an inpatient and following discharge. The Medicess clinical team that worked on this case were selected on the basis of their hands-on experience and clinical expertise in acquired brain injury. The team was able to work side-by-side with the NHS to provide resources that would optimise the outcome of rehabilitation.

Scope of Practice - Our Approach to Rehabilitation Medicess is pioneering injury management through multidisciplinary teams tailored to the needs of the patient. Our teams consist of Doctors, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Specialists and Vocational Consultants. We combine the clinical and vocational skills of our teams to develop patientcentred programmes that proactively intervene on both recent and long established injuries. Regulation & Standards All of our clinicians work within their scope of practice, they are regulated and ethically bound by statute bodies i.e. the General Medical Council (GMC), Health Professional Council (HPC) etc. Our regulation guarantees the highest ethical and clinical standards. They ensure that our clinicians are independently accountable and that a system of recourse is available for patients and stakeholders. No other rehabilitation provider can give you such assurances A Close Working Relationship - Catering for All Your Needs Our flexible and versatile service allows us to run rehabilitation shoulder-to-shoulder with you. We recognise the importance of a close working relationship not only in terms of reporting but also in terms of clinical and vocational delivery. We believe that effective patient-centred rehabilitation requires open communication and reporting with all parties. Our processes naturally support the Rehabilitation Code and we are happy to be formally appointed under it. All of our cases are supported by sophisticated management software that allows on-line access to cases and of course, we are always available to talk through recommendations and treatments with you at any time. Tailored Solutions Our services are tailored to the needs of the patient to ensure the highest level of support and intervention is provided. Our services extend from simple treatment delivery to multidisciplinary injury and vocational management. Consequently, Medicess provides a flexible, nationwide rehabilitation service that is tailored to suit individual s needs. This can include any number of the following assessments, reports and interventions: Telephone Injury / Absence Screening Bespoke Rehabilitation Proposal Work Status Report Telephone Triage Physical Examination (INA) Vocational Rehabilitation / Support Programmes Vocational Assessment Work Site Assessment Direct Treatment & Investigation Referrals Psychological Well-being Screening Complex Needs Assessment Functional Capacity Assessment All of our assessments and interventions are provided nationwide by qualified clinical staff. Our services are delivered both face-to-face and by telephone depending on patient need. By operating a comprehensive bespoke service we achieve rapid outcomes for our clients and patients.

Clinical Interventions The first step in effective rehabilitation is to stabilise and improve the clinical condition of the patient. Once our clinical teams have assessed treatment requirements we can arrange any of the following interventions: Vocational Rehabilitation A well-timed return to work is essential in assisting physical recovery and the emotional well-being of the patient. We assess vocational needs at the very outset to direct treatment goals and allow an early return to work alongside active clinical intervention. Consultant Referrals As a GP led company, our doctors can refer patients to consultants on appropriate cases using comprehensive databases for private consultant referrals. Therapeutic Treatment We arrange therapeutic treatment through our networks of treatment providers. All treating clinicians are clinically vetted and all treatment is monitored by our clinical teams. Clinical Investigations We can arrange clinical investigations, including MRI, X-ray, CT Scans and ultra-sound. We do not provide treatment ourselves. This allows us to remain impartial and ensures the most appropriate treatment is sourced and delivered at all times. We have a unique nationwide network of trained vocational rehabilitation specialists who work with employers to assist in successfully returning patients to the workplace. Occupational Support Programmes We develop occupational support programmes and recommendations to aid patients re-introduction to the workplace. This includes everything from assessing the suitability of the patient s working practice to educating the employer on the practical management of any residual disabilities. Vocational Rehabilitation Programmes We provide a number of services tailored to help individuals secure new employment. These include vocational assessments, transferable skills analysis, local labour market analysis, CV preparation and job counselling.
