Brown, PA-C, holds a Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Florida State University.

Minimally invasive procedures. 6 back and spine center Shorter hospital stays. Faster healing. Fewer complications. Quicker recovery times. These are the advantages of minimally invasive surgical procedures at the Back and Spine Center. Assisted by sophisticated computers, our neurosurgeons can reconstruct spinal columns, insert artificial discs, repair fractures and relieve pinched nerves with tiny incisions and often on an outpatient basis. One example, known as XLIF, allows us to perform spinal fusions that offer shorter hospital stays, less scarring and less post-operative discomfort. The procedure is less traumatic to abdominal organs, muscle tissues and blood vessels, because it goes through the side of the body instead of through the front. The lateral muscles are gently separated along the fibers to avoid cutting and tearing; no major organs are disturbed. At the Back and Spine Center, our goal is to offer our patients the latest in minimally invasive procedures to get you back to life faster.

Non-surgical alternatives. Neurosurgery isn t always the only answer for back and spine patients. That s why we also offer a wide range of non-surgical treatment options. 9 We have a dedicated physical therapist who can develop a customized treatment plan that you can implement at any of six Martin Memorial rehabilitation facilities in Martin and St. Lucie counties. Through partnerships with Martin Memorial Health Systems, we can develop a holistic approach for you that includes proper nutrition, exercise, weight management, acupuncture and therapeutic massage. back and spine center We can also partner with pain management and chiropractic specialists to help you relieve and control discomfort. Whatever is best for you is what we do at the Back and Spine Center.

Brain surgery and procedures. 10 back and spine center The Back and Spine Center is the premier neurosurgery center on the Treasure Coast that can perform the delicate procedures that address such a wide variety of cranial issues, including tumors, head trauma, fluid build up and vascular malformations. Tumors of the brain and spinal column can be treated with surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and stereotactic surgery computer-guided beams that aggressively attack the tumor while preserving the healthy tissue around it. Head trauma a build up of blood on the surface of, or inside the brain caused by head injuries and falls can be relieved with surgery. Hydrocephalus or water on the brain is a build up of fluid surrounding the brain that can be relieved by surgically implanting a shunt to drain off the excess fluid. Arteriovenous malformations and other vascular malformations are abnormal collections of blood vessels that can cause bleeding within the brain. Treatments include surgical resection, radiation and embolization using a catheter to block the flow of blood through the vessels.

Streamlined diagnostics. 12 back and spine center The key to relieving your pain faster is diagnosing its cause faster. Your diagnosis will be coordinated through one of Martin Memorial s five convenient Imaging Centers. Each center has state-of-the-art MRIs, PET/CT scanners, bone densitometry and X-rays. That s why you can usually get an appointment with a neurosurgeon at the Back and Spine Center within 24 to 48 hours of your tests. You can even see a physician assistant the same day. Coordinating your diagnostic tests through Martin Memorial allows us to schedule your appointment immediately and begin your treatment plan sooner.

Our affiliation with Martin Memorial makes the Back and Spine Center the premier neurosurgery center on the Treasure Coast. In addition to the five Imaging Centers, Martin Memorial has a Health and Healing Department and a Health and Fitness Department to complete your treatment plan. In fact, with two hospitals, six rehabilitation facilities and numerous outpatient centers, Martin Memorial is the area s leader in health care. The Martin Memorial network of physicians makes it easier to coordinate care. That s why we re pleased to be a part of it.
