The Nurse Unit Manager acts as a role model, mentor and advocate for nursing staff. The role will oversee the management of Maternity, Home and Community Care and Ambulatory Care services and would be advantageous to have skills in both areas. Leadership of the Maternity Services team in conjunction with Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) to achieve unit and Hospital and Health Service strategic goals, promoting performance accountability and professional integrity from all members of the team Lead and manage a team that recognise and prioritise the complex health care requirements of clients within the TCHHS, by monitoring patient referrals for timely access and review by specialist medical and allied health services incorporating telehealth as available. In conjunction with Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) and AO5 Outpatients - maintain Performance Appraisals for all staff bi-annually and ensure all Human Resources procedures are followed for performance issues. Lead and support clinical nurse portfolio work, aimed at the integration of nursing research, theory and practice into supporting excellence in clinical practice. Provide a high quality, coordinated service to ensure cohesive and supported client journey through the Maternity and Outpatient Services. Maintain high safe standards of clinical practice, by ensuring staff maintain clinical competencies and work within their individual scope of practice. Mandatory qualifications/professional registration/other requirements Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Current registration or eligibility to register as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia / Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
