ASSET INSPECTOR / TECHNICAL SERVICES ASSISTANT The Asset Inspector / Technical Services Assistant is responsible for providing asset inspection and condition assessment data and assisting with the operation of the Technical Services Department including but not limited to engineering surveys, data input and para-technical support services. The Position The key responsibilities include: The Person Apply requirements of asset management administration in a local government environment Undertake inspections of all classes of assets Provide asset condition data for assets to the Manager Technical Services and other senior and subordinate Council officers in accordance with adopted procedures Assist Manager Technical Services and Manager Operations with a variety of civil design and construction projects Assist Design Office Manager with engineering surveys The successful applicant will possess the following attributes at a minimum: Demonstrated knowledge of civil construction materials and processes Demonstrated knowledge of infrastructure assets including roads, water and sewerage systems, stormwater systems and buildings Demonstrated experience in construction, inspection and assessment of infrastructure assets Demonstrated experience in Asset Management Demonstrated written and oral communication skills The applicable salary is to a ceiling of Level 3 ($66,826pa) with the commencing salary dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful applicant. POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Asset Inspector/Technical Services Assistant POSITION NUMBER: 30015 AWARD: Queensland Local Government Officers Award - State CERTIFIED AGREEMENT: Burdekin Shire Council Enterprise Bargaining Agreement AWARD DESCRIPTOR LEVEL: Level 3 REPORTS TO: Asset Management Coordinator PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Based at Council Chambers, Young Street, Ayr POSITION OBJECTIVE Provide asset inspection and condition assessment data to the Asset Management Coordinator and Manager Technical Services. Assist the Manager Technical Services with the operation of the Technical Services Department including but not limited to engineering surveys, data input and paratechnical support services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The key responsibilities may be modified from time to time to ensure the expected outcomes are coordinated with Council s operational and corporate plans. Without limiting the above, the key responsibilities shall include: Apply requirements of asset management administration in a local government environment Undertake inspections of all classes of assets Provide asset condition data for assets to the Manager Technical Services and other senior and subordinate Council officers in accordance with adopted procedures. Knowledge POSITION REQUIREMENTS Sound knowledge of principles, standards and legislative requirements of asset management operations of local government Sound knowledge of computerised asset management systems and software Comprehensive knowledge of sections/departments functions and operation of Council structure Working knowledge of work activities performed within the Council structure Sound knowledge of civil construction materials and processes Sound knowledge of infrastructure assets including roads, water and sewerage systems, stormwater systems and buildings

This is a description of the job as it is at present constituted.
