Mentis Assist assists people to recognise their values, strengths and goals, with an emphasis on improving health and wellbeing, independence, social participation and enhancing meaningful relationships with significant others. Mentis Assist was established in 1987 and has evolved significantly to become a leader in the areas of delivering flexible support packages tailored to the individual using strengths-based, recovery-orientated practice, quality and evidenced based service provision. Position Overview In the Mentis Assist organisational structure, the Service Manager oversees and leads a cluster of programs. The nature and scope of these programs will change from time to time in response to funding and other operational issues. It is expected that the Service Manager will have up to 7 direct reports, usually from Senior Practice Leaders and Program Managers, in addition to administrative support staff. The Service Manager is responsible for ensuring a high standard of service delivery to clients consistent with the Organisation s values and guidelines documented in the Service Model. The Service Manager provides leadership and manages all accountability aspects of their allocated programs. The incumbent will be accountable to ensure the achievement of service performance and budget targets in line with documented policies, procedures and guidelines. The Service Manager is charged with ensuring their program staff are provided with continuous professional development opportunities. Multi-skilled Practitioners are required to maintain an up-to-date knowledge on an eclectic range of therapeutic interventions including person-centred practice, recovery-orientated practice (Coleman), trauma-informed care, family-sensitive practice, care co-ordination, suicide intervention, cultural competence, and the Mentis Assist Personal Recovery Outcome Measurement Tool (PROMT). The Service Manager will establish and maintain strong working partnerships with Clinical Mental Health teams, South-East Primary Care Partnerships (SE-PHN) and other community service and health providers and partner organisations. Service Delivery In collaboration with Program Managers and Senior Practice Leaders review service delivery and case work to ensure high standard are maintained and in accordance with policies, procedures and the Service Model. Actively participate in service/program reviews and evaluations in collaboration with the Quality Coordinator Oversee Program Managers and Senior Practice Leaders to maintain client paper and electronic files to ensure they meet quality standards outlined in our policies, procedures and guidelines Promote the sharing of knowledge throughout the various teams and structural levels Facilitate opportunities to promote Mentis Assist and programs Facilitate presentations as required, using a variety of medium i.e. power-point, skype. Finance and Performance Ensure all service expenditure has approval in line with the Delegation Schedule, policy and procedures Ensure all accounting and documentation processes are accurate and within budget. Routinely review financial and brokerage reports to ensure accuracy Through Program Managers and Senior Practice Leaders, ensure performance targets and data submissions and program reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner and meets or succeeds targets assigned Ensure effective staffing levels are maintained and locum staff are utilised as per budget allocation. Practice Knowledge Good knowledge of mental health diagnoses and symptoms, treatments, interventions, regional mental health and general health providers Sound understanding of the causes of stigma and barriers faced by those with mental ill health Broad knowledge of Developmental and Attachment theories Experience in providing; early intervention, recovery-orientated, strengths-based, person-centred, familysensitive, trauma-informed practices Good understanding of HR practices i.e. performance management, recruitment and cessation of staff. Highly skilled management and leadership abilities with a good understanding of change management theories. Professional Development Participate in fortnightly supervision with the Director of Services Undertake annual performance appraisals with the Director of Services and develop and implement own professional development plans Actively take part in training and skill building opportunities. Administration Ensure electronic reporting compliance i.e. Quarterly Data Collection (QDC) Minimum Set Data (MDS) Ensure program written reporting is completed to the highest standard and lodged within set timeframes Record accurate case notes as required Ensure HR Performance Management recording is up-to-date and reflects a clear and accurate overview of situation and/or meetings. Ensure HR policies and procedures are adhered to Ensure adherence to Critical Incident Reporting and responsibilities Through Program Managers and Senior Practice Leaders, monitor to ensure all HR processes are met within set timeframes i.e. timesheets, personal and annual leave forms, 50/52 requests Adhere to program and performance reporting within set timeframes and to a high standard Possess excellent written and verbal communication and IT skills. Key Selection Criteria 1. Excellent knowledge and skills; and demonstrated experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health issues along with complex and multiple care needs (poor functioning/living skills/physical health, substance abuse, dual disability, personality disorders, history of homelessness and deep set trauma). Possess a strong knowledge of risk assessment, therapeutic interventions and service evaluation, particularly as it pertains to individuals who can, at times display difficult and aggressive behaviours. 2. Well-developed skills and experience in providing clinical supervision (individual and group) and providing inhouse training and/or leading people in times of change. 3. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and effective teams and a positive work ethic and culture. 4. Demonstrated ability to effectively performance manage staff and have courageous conversations with others (i.e. to address poor performance or to resolve a grievance) which highlights high level skills in problem solving and conflict resolution. 5. Ability to be adaptable in a fluid work environment i.e. within organisational, legislative and practice frameworks, without the need for close monitoring and high levels of direction. 6. Have a thorough knowledge of, and sound experience in, program reviews and evaluations. 7. Possesses an ability to work in a flexible and adaptable manner i.e.; works well both independently and collaboratively; has good problem solving and conflict resolutions skills; capability to organise and prioritise a competing workloads; confident to make decisions and calculated mistakes; can remain calm during times of high stress. 8. Well skilled in managing program reporting requirements (written and electronic) including budgets, brokerages, grant funding expenditure as well as meeting/exceeding program targets. 9. Highly effective interpersonal people and communication (written and verbal) skills. 10. Advanced administration skills including IT systems such as client databases, computer literacy, Microsoft packages (Word, Outlook and Excel) and search engines.
