1 Rationale Program Change, Course Proposal, and Course Change Fall 2014 Art Education is proposing a new course A-E 300 to replace A-S 201 (1 cr), ART 191 (1 cr), and ART 191 (1cr) to better focus on art education pedagogical experiences that are required by the Educational Professional Standards Board (EPSB). These pedagogical experiences that are required by EPSB better meet the mandate of Senate Bill 1 and the needs of future art teachers for the 21 st Century. EDC 317 is a duplication of technology experiences that is required by the initial teacher certification that is currently being met by A-S 200. Based on the recent mandate from Senate Bill 1 that requires students to have 200 hours of field experience prior to student teaching and the fact that students may not meet the 200 hour requirement in one semester A-E 362 must be a 1 3 variable credit hour course and repeatable for a total of 6 credit hours. In addition, the Art Education Area would like to remove the statement from the bulletin - NOTE: Students majoring in Art Education may use no more than six credit hours of courses within the School of Art and Visual Studies to fulfill UK Core.
