9 Befre Yu Begin On a server running Windws Server 2003, befre yu install DcAve Manager using the Built-in database, Windws Installer 4.5 must be installed first. Dwnlad and install Windws Installer 4.5 prir t installing DcAve 6 Manager. The 32-bit perating systems are nt supprted t use the built-in database when installing DcAve. If yu want t use the DcAve functins in SharePint Online 2013, yu must install.net Framewrk 4.5 r the later versins n at least ne f the Agent servers in the Agent Grup used t perfrm the crrespnding jb. Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl The Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl is a light-weight sftware package designed t help users diagnse and slve ptential installatin prblems specifically related t prerequisite cnnectin, permissin, and prt cnfiguratins befre a DcAve installatin. Prir t an installatin, the Health Analyzer Tl, in cnjunctin with the Health Analyzer Cnnectin Tl, can be used t check the cnnectins frm the Manager r Agent service server where it is hsted t the server where yu are abut t install an Agent service, Manager service, Media service, and/r Reprt service. The Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl can als be used befre an installatin t check the requirements f the Agent accunt fr selected mdules and the permissins f the applicatin pl accunt. T use the Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl, fllw the steps belw: 1. Activate the Health Analyzer Cnnectin Tl n the servers that will be targeted by the Health Analyzer Tl. See Using the Health Analyzer Cnnectr Tl fr mre infrmatin. 2. Run the Health Analyzer Tl frm the Manager r Agent service server. See Using the Stand- Alne Health Analyzer Tl fr mre infrmatin. Dwnlad a cpy f the Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl here: Using the Health Analyzer Cnnectr Tl The Health Analyzer Cnnectin Tl is used t emulate the prt f the server where yu are abut t install an Agent service, Manager service, Media service, and/r Reprt service, in rder t help the Health Analyzer Tl check server cnnectins. Once the tl package has been laded nt the server where yu are abut t install an Agent service, Manager service, Media service, and/r Reprt service, fllw the directins belw t run the tl: 1. Unzip the tl package and duble-click the Health Analyzer Cnnectin Tl in flder Health Analyzer. DcAve 6 Installatin Guide 9

10 2. Enter the prt number f the server where yu are abut t install an Agent service, Manager service, Media service, and/r Reprt service. Fr mre infrmatin n the prt numbers used, see Prts Used by DcAve Click Start. 4. Once the prt has been emulated, g t [insert link] and fllw the instructins there t check the server cnnectins. Using the Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl The Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl is used t check if the Agent and/r Manager requirements are met n the server. Additinally, the Health Analyzer Tl can be used t check the hsting server s cnnectin t ther servers where yu are abut t install r have installed an Agent service, Manager service, Media service and/r Reprt service. The Health Analyzer Tl runs scans n the indicated servers using the inputted criteria and selected rules, lking fr errrs. After the scan is cmplete, a reprt appears detailing the results f the scan. T run a scan: 1. Dwnlad the tl package nt the server and unzip it. Duble-click the Health Analyzer Tl if yu are a member f the lcal Administratrs grup r right-click the tl and select Run as administratr t start this tl. 2. Cnfigure the fllwing three checkbxes n the interface. *Nte: Each type f check detailed belw can be run independently r simultaneusly. Check Agent requirements n this server Cnfigure the fllwing settings t check the requirements f the Agent accunt fr the selected mdules. Username Enter the user name f the Agent accunt. Passwrd Enter the passwrd f the Agent accunt. Mdule Select the mdules that need t be checked frm the drp-dwn list. *Nte: By selecting this checkbx, the Stand-Alne Health Analyzer Tl will check the requirements f the Agent accunt fr the current server. Check Manager requirements n this server Cnfigure the fllwing setting t check the permissins f the applicatin pl accunt. Username Enter the user name f the applicatin pl accunt. Check the cnnectin n this server t ther servers Cnfigure the fllwing settings t check the cnnectin status frm this server t ther servers where yu are abut t install r have installed an Agent service, Manager service, Media service, and/r Reprt service. 11 Server Prt Enter the prt number f the server where yu are abut t install r have installed an Agent service, Manager service, Media service, and/r Reprt service. Click Add t add this infrmatin int the table belw. Mre than ne set f server infrmatin can be added. Alternatively, click Imprt Cnnectins t select a previusly cnfigured CSV file, and then click Open t imprt the server infrmatin in bulk. Fr mre infrmatin n cnfiguring the CSV file, refer t Cnfiguring the CSV File fr Imprting the Server Infrmatin in Bulk. Click t delete a set f infrmatin frm the table. 3. Click Next t g t the next page. The Rules Selectin interface appears. 4. Select the rules that yu want t scan by selecting the crrespnding checkbxes and click Scan n the ribbn. 5. The results f the scan will shw n the interface. Click the rule name, the Rule Details windw will appear and shw the explanatin f the rule, the results, as well as the status and slutin fr the errr. Click Exprt Reprt n the ribbn, select a desired strage lcatin and click Save t exprt a Health Analyzer reprt t yur lcal system. Cnfiguring the CSV File fr Imprting the Server Infrmatin in Bulk There is a template used t cnfigure the server infrmatin fr checking the cnnectin status in the Health Analyzer tl package. Use the fllwing steps t cnfigure the CSV file: 1. Find the template file in the tl package. 2. Open the file, and enter the crrespnding values under the Server IP/Hstname clumn and the Server Prt clumn. 3. Save the changes t the file. SharePint Agent Accunt Permissins Ensure the SharePint Agent accunt specified fr DcAve 6 Agent has the fllwing permissins: 4. Lcal System Permissins: The specified Agent Accunt will be granted Full Cntrl permissin t the fllwing grups and flders during DcAve Agent installatin: IIS_WPG (fr IIS 6) r IIS_IUSRS (fr IIS 7 and IIS 8) Perfrmance Mnitr Users DcAve Users (the grup is created by DcAve autmatically and it has the fllwing permissins): Full Cntrl t the Registry f HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AvePint\DcAve6. 13 Reasns fr Agent Accunt Permissins The DcAve 6 Agent Accunt permissins can be divided int three parts: Lcal, SQL, and SharePint. Lcal Permissins The Agent Accunt shuld be added t the fllwing three grups: DcAve Users DcAve requires particular permissins spread acrss the whle system, s DcAve creates the lcal grup DcAve Users t accunt fr these permissins. Then, admins can simply add users t this grup t acquire the required permissin. Detailed Permissins fr DcAve Users: Lcal Machine\Sftware\AvePint\DcAve6 is created by DcAve installatin. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentCntrlSet\Services\EventLg: Permissin t this registry is needed fr writing t the event lg. Lg n as a batch jb permissin is used when DcAve starts a new prcess under the Agent accunt. DcAve uses batch lg n and impersnate t create the new prcess. Full Cntrl Permissin t the Temprary Buffer is required when validating the Agent accunt s permissin t the Temprary Buffer when changing the Agent accunt. IIS_IUSRS (fr IIS7 r 8) / IIS_WPG (fr IIS6) DcAve uses the WCF prt sharing service; these grups have permissins t use prt sharing. Backup Operatrs VSS backup needs this permissin, but it can be ignred if yu are nt using Platfrm Backup & Restre. Perfrmance Mnitr Users DcAve uses.net perfrmance cunter API, and SharePint API als uses it internally. This permissin is required by.net API. SQL Permissins The Agent Accunt is required t act as the db_wner in all databases related t SharePint, including Cntent Database, Cnfig Database and Central Admin Database. This is because the SharePint API perates these databases internally and therefre requires these permissins. SharePint Permissins The Agent Accunt is required t be the SharePint Farm Administratr. This is because DcAve need permissin t brwse Web applicatins, access farm services, etc. DcAve 6 Installatin Guide 13

14 The Agent Accunt is granted Full Cntrl Permissin t all znes f all Web applicatins via User Plicy fr Web Applicatins. DcAve needs this permissin t access all site cllectins with the Agent Accunt. With Full Cntrl Permissin, the user is able t retrieve data such as Web template schema, field schema, and feature definitin frm 14 Hive via SharePint API (even if UAC is enabled). *Nte: Fr SharePint 2013, the Agent Accunt is granted the Full cntrl and accunt perates as system accunt t all znes f all Web applicatins via User Plicy fr Web Applicatins. Accunt perates as system accunt is needed t create the Micrfeed list. User Prfile Service 2010 Use Persnal Features DcAve needs this permissin t access user prfile and user prfile prperties. Create Persnal Site DcAve needs this permissin t create persnal site if needed. Use Scial Features, which is related t Dcument Tagging, Scial Cmment (Dcument Ntes) User Prfile Service 2013 DcAve needs this permissin t access and create scial cmpnents, such as tags. Create Persnal Site DcAve requires this fr persnal strage, newsfeed, and fllwed cntent. Fllw Peple and Edit Prfile Use Tags and Ntes Managed Metadata Service Term Stre Administratr DcAve needs this permissin t access and create term r keywrds. Business Data Cnnectivity Service Search Service Full Cntrl This allws DcAve t get the schema f external cntent type. 15 Adding DcAve 6 t Yur Anti-Virus Exclusin List In sme cases, yur anti-virus sftware may negatively impact the perfrmance f certain DcAve jbs. If yu ntice slw data transfer rates, r if yu simply want t remve yur anti-virus sftware frm the jb perfrmance equatin altgether, add the \AvePint\DcAve6 directry t yur anti-virus sftware s exclusin list.
